funny how it's great for some and not for others, it was the diamorphine that made me puke the lucozade that i wasn't supposed to have and took on the sly!! the midwife saw the funny side!! if you get a midwife called Linda on labour ward she is bloody great, really nice person and funny! also had another midwive (who i cannot for the life of me remember her name) she was older, greying hair. at first i thought she was a little harsh cause she told me to calm down as i had a long way till baby born and my breathing was all wrong! anyway she was just great too, very encouraging! wishing you all the best.

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:30

i'm going to LOL if anyone tells me to 'calm down' when i'm there for high BP after hypnobirthing like mad.

shhhhyouhaventseenSQUONK · 02/11/2008 16:33

pah! d'ye know, you sneak on mumsnet when all the family are busy doing something else, you sneakily namechange so you can't be found (just in case) and you start a simple "have they had their baby yet" thread... only to find they're all still bloody pregnant!!!!

come on MamaG, Expat, Lackadaisycal.... (and anyone else )

I want birth stories next time I get five minutes to mumsnet

MamaG · 02/11/2008 16:36

I have an announcement to make.

I'm still pg just been shopping with DH and DC.

Good luck tomorrow expat, hopefully you haven't got too much longer now

lol, mamag.

getting intermittent contractions here.

which suck because they're not getting more regular and yet they knock the wind out of me.

wtf?

yeah, 'calm down'.

um, look, if 3-2-1 relax doesn't do it (direct quote from hypnobirthing CD), nothing will.

shhhhyouhaventseenSQUONK · 02/11/2008 16:39

I know that now, MamaG!!!

come on woman! I need a good birth story to keep me going in my mumsnet drought!

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:40

been having fucking intermittent contractions here for how long now?

they woke me up in the middle of the night last night.

oh, and no more show or discharge, either, since sweep.

MamaG · 02/11/2008 16:41

Its really shit isn't it

OP posts:
expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:42

midwife said, 'this will either kick this off or it won't.'

erm, okay.

but if it doesn't.

i'm going epidural and that's that.

Lib76 · 02/11/2008 16:44

Tonight expat, i have a feeling!! that wee fella will get moving soon!!! keep up with the counting!!!!

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:46

i wait till the sun goes down, light candles, then heat up my wheat bag with lavender oil and do the CD.

it does help with the contractions.

not as well as morphine, though , which has the added benefit of usually lowering my BP.

i remember it spiked up before some surgery and the anaesthetist setting up the canula then saying, hey, watch this! watch the BP monitor! and pushing in some fenatnyl.

the BP went BAM!

guyFAwkesreQuiem · 02/11/2008 16:47

G&A made me sick with DS2 (didn't try it with DS1 as he was a CS with no labour) - LOVED it with DS3 - 17 months on I still wish Boots would stock it so you can buy to have at home

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:49

tried it twice and hurled with it every time, FAQ.

it even made me sick at the dentist's!

Lib76 · 02/11/2008 16:51

yeh bring on the morphine indeed, it bloody good. although DS didn't like it made the contractions slow, i felt fab though!!!

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:53

bet i'll be up all night with these fucking intermittent contractions that go fucking nowhere but are too painful to sleep through.

DH having the snip before he gets any sex at all again.

sorry, but being pregnant and givign birth just fucking SUX and since i can't take progesten-based contraception (or combined due to BF and high blood pressure) and i don't see abortion as an option i'd ever exercise, i'm not taking the chance of ever getting pregnant again after this.

i'm nearly 38 years old and this is about my limit.

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:54

i don't do pain well.

i really don't.

gimme the morphine and if that doesn't work find the anaesthetist.

i've put in my plan that if i wind up on a drip i want the epi asap.

Lib76 · 02/11/2008 16:55

LOL expat!! i can't believe you are thinking of SEX when you having intermittent contractions!!!! The snip sounds like a plan indeed!

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:57

he's got the appointment.

not.doing.this.anymore.ever.

just not.

forceps delivery with DD1. no drugs with DD2 as got there too late. missed m/c with ERPC. contractions for days and days with nowt with this one.

fuck this for a game of soldiers.

Lib76 · 02/11/2008 16:57

i would have taken epidural if i could have (couldn't cause of platelets! having baby back to back hurt like fuck!!

NorthernLurker · 02/11/2008 16:58

Take heart expat - the intermittent contractions will be doing something (aside from keeping you awake) and that puts you well ahead of Mamag - she's going to be sitting on that birthing ball for days yet

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:58

dd1 was back to back and had her right hand cupping her head up over her ear.

consultant got in and she said, 'oh, dear. your wee handy shouldn't be up there!'

no shit!

expatinscotland · 02/11/2008 16:59

she'll be rested, NL.

i won't and i can tell you from experiences that will raise my bp

NorthernLurker · 02/11/2008 16:59

at consultant - could she have been any less reassuring???
