Hey, sparky! What wondeful news! Great big hugs from this end.

Wish I had the same problem as you, maz (have been worried about lack of ms tbh). Mine's just really mild nausea, an undercurrent all day, so am stuffing myself as usual. Have aversion to tea, coffee and mince too, for some reason. Could eat Cheesy Wotsit sarnies non-stop, even though we have some lovely-looking Waitrose raised-on-velvet-cushions mince in the fridge. Hoping these are all good signs

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 06/11/2008 19:41

roque - really sorry to see your news. Take care of yourself and allow yourself time to come to terms with this and decide what to do from here on in. Give those 3 dc of yours big cuddles.

Wheelybug - good luck for tomorrow. What time is your scan booked for?

Sparky - congrats!

dan - have a good wkend away!

Right, dinner is just about ready!

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 06/11/2008 19:42

Ooh ladylush - sorry meant to ask you about your thyroid problem as I have an underactive thyroid. Shame your GP isn't much help. Mine's being v supportive and I've seen consultant to ensure my levels are ok. Anything I can help with?

ladylush · 06/11/2008 20:12

Hi Ses - I've got sub-clinical hypothyroidism but very symptomatic iyswim (great response to treatment). My G.P agreed to put me on Thyroxine when ttc. When I conceived I asked for an increase it was put up by 25mcg (to 125mcg)though I had to push for it. I went for a TFT for TSH and T4 but the lab didn't bother testing the T4 and the TSH was 2.19 My concern is that between now and 6 weeks time the TSH will rise and the 25mcg may not be enough to keep my levels below 2 (the optimum range in early pregnancy is 1-2). I was diagnosed in December but my TSH has never stabilised in the lower range. It often climbs to 3.8, then I need to get the thyroxine increased. I wrote a letter to the G.P outlining these concerns and asked her to check with an endocrinologist if she is wary of increasing the dose. No response yet. I am wondering whether I should go private. What action did your G.P take?

daisy5 · 06/11/2008 22:09

roque - I am so sorry to hear your news

daisyj - I hope the baby gymnastics are on again today . It's so nice to feel lots of activity. Thank you for your advice and thoughts, especially the bit about twisting the truth a 'little' although it sounds like you came across a really lovely midwife - what a nice thing she did for you . I actually found some kind of peace last night when I realised that if anything goes wrong with this pregnancy that we will probably stop trying for my (our) own sanity....so I may as well relax and enjoy the next three weeks of what is my last pregnancy, no matter what the outcome. Does that sound a bit odd? It's the only way I could find some calm. Sorry to be so emotional - this will be my last depressing post - from now on I shall be upbeat.

dan - ah to be lying on a beach in Barbados heavily sedated - what a dreamy thought.

littlesarah - hope all good with you.

scotlass - yes I think a glass of champagne at all significant pregnancy events is an excellent idea. I wonder what they would say if I went into the nuchal armed with bottle and glass!

ses - that is amazing price on the doppler - would love to hear how it goes.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 07/11/2008 07:40

Morning

ladylush - your diagnosis is v similar to mine. I had to spend 2 years going to and fro GP and then see a locum GP before anyone would take me seriously about my symptoms. In the end the lovely locum I saw acknowledged that different people need different amounts of thyroxine and agreed to try me out on 25mcg. Basically then my TSH levels continued to go up as my body was still wanting more but my T4 didn't go up accordingly so by the time I got pg in February, I was on 75mcg.
My usual GP automatically increased it at that point to 100mcg and referred me to the endocrine consultant at the ante natal clinic who - after blood test - increased it again to 150mcg.
After mmc, my GP suggested I stayed on 150mcg if I was going to continue ttc.
This time round, I got referred again to consultant who I saw for first time on Tuesday. He's concerned about my levels and if the blood test he did comes back today with a TSH of >2, he wants me to go up to 200mcg. I then have another blood test booked for 16th Dec and have to go see consultants again on 30th Dec!

Sorry everyone else - that must have been v boring but I hope ladylush found it vaguely useful!

SparkyMalarky · 07/11/2008 12:40

Wheely - any news?

nettynoodle · 07/11/2008 13:15

Hi, I am 14wks pregnant and i have an under active thyroide. My gp upped my tablets from 75mg to 100mg as soon as i said i was pregnant. I saw a consultant last week who said my levels were fine and kept me on the same dose and will see me in 6wks.
I have had 3 previous miscarriages, and i am still so nervous. My morning sickness has stopped and i just dont feel pregnant, which in a way is good cause i hated being sick twice a day n feeling sick all day.
Any advice to make me feel better?

ladylush · 07/11/2008 14:19

Thanks Ses - yes very helpful info. What was your TSH at the point that the endocrinologist decided to up it by 50mcg? I'm quite worried about my TSH being higher than 2 at this stage in my pregnancy and am wondering whether I should up it myself or see a private endo. I've been referred to one but apparently it takes ages to be seen. This is frustrating because it's the most critical stage in the pregnancy. Anyway, glad you are getting the support you need

ladylush · 07/11/2008 14:21

netty, morning sickness often disappears after the first trimester so until you feel your baby move, there may not be many other symptoms. Easier said than done, but try not to worry. Have you seen midwife yet?

ladylush · 07/11/2008 14:58

Ooh exciting news (sorry to bore all non-underactive thyroid ladies)....my doctor just rang. She read my letter and rang the endocrinologist who said I can take an extra 25mcg daily. VERY HAPPY This particular doctor has been so helpful throughout but because it's a group practice it's not always possible to get an appointment with the doctor you want - unless you're prepared to wait. She also said that the endocrinologist will see me within 2 weeks and wants me to have TFT (inc. T4 and T3)on Monday. I am on cloud 9 now. It has made me feel more optimistic about the pregnancy I can't prove it, but I think I may have lost the others because my thryoid was malfunctioning.

Swaliswan · 07/11/2008 20:14

Roquefort so sorry to hear your news. Take care of yourself and maybe we'll see you back here in the new year.

I'm feeling a bit unsure of myself today. My mini-bump is changing shape and now I feel like just look fat rather than pg. I'm in that horrible stage when you don't get morning sickness but you don't get reassuring thumps and kicks either or an impressive bump that gets you sympathy in long queues. I just don't feel that pg at the moment.

Wheelybug · 07/11/2008 20:56

Hi All - sorry not been in. Have been dashing between mine and DH's hospital appointments and firework displays etc. Still need to get dd to bed so just to quick one to update on the scan - All fine so far !! Was particularly worried about growth as dd's growth issues showed up at this stage. Abdominals/head circumference were bang on 50th centile (dd was on 3rd at this stage !) and legs were much higher (DH has long legs and it appears our children seem to inherit it which is lucky for them as I have titchy legs) so was v. happy. Sobbed all the way through it though - firstly from worry and then relief. The sonographer must have thought I was insane but was so lovely.

Blood pressure was also lower than its ever been so was all quite happily boringly normal !

Will be back later to check up on everyone else.

Wheelybug · 07/11/2008 22:22

Ladylush - glad you've kicked your gp into touch. Here's hoping it does the trick.

Swalis - sorry you're having a wobbly time. I still have them and guess we're all going to until the babes are born. I saw a good friend today who is 14 weeks pregnant with twins and saying how she feels so much more relaxed in this pregnancy to her first - isn't worrying at all. That must be sooo nice !! I know she's started sorting through all her previous stuff too which I still won't do.

Herby - hope you're doing ok still - just thought. My scan today is another part of the 'small at 7 weeks' story. It was bang on or a bit bigger for dates today whereas at 13 weeks was only a day or two behind. So really does go to show early scanning is not an exact science.

Right am off to bed shortly - not sleeping well because of really sore hips again and this morning I thought I was going to be sick (yes my m/s which passed at 20 weeks came back yesterday for a, hopefully, brief appearance) and tried to get out of bed and could barely get all my limbs working properly. Thankfully wasn't sick but then had to get on hands and knees and rock my hips to get rid of sciatica type pain. Aaahhh isn't pregnancy glamourous ( but I wouldn't swap it for the world)

sussexoldspot · 08/11/2008 10:14

Really happy your scan went well, wheely and hoping this current crappy stage is just a blip!

Can't really offer you any advice netty, but wishing you lots of luck and really sorry to hear about your awful pg history. You say you just don't feel pregnant - do you actually feel, deep down, that something is wrong? If so, I'd have a word with your GP/midwife. Have you had your 12 week scan?

Are you OK, herb?

Hugs to you, swali. Sorry to be so lazy and not go through the thread, but how far along are you?

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 08/11/2008 11:26

ladylush - that's great news! I'm really glad someone is listening

Swali - I'm doing everything I can to reassure myself and swing between having really positive enthusiastic moments and moments of pure disbelief. Hope you're having a better day today.

Wheely - great news on your scan

netty - I'm 14 weeks tomorrow and also don't really feel that pg. I keep being told to give it 3-4 weeks and the bump and movements will start to appear!

One thing that I thought might help is a doppler. The on I ordered arrived yesterday and after a few false starts (first couldn't find it and then just heard my own pulse!) I found it this morning! Racing away at about 161bpm!

herbaceous · 08/11/2008 11:56

Hello girls! Glad scan went well Wheely.

I'm still here. Ridiculously sore knockers, and a sense of smell that goes into bloodhound mode in the afternoon. Walked into the sitting room the other day and could tell that DP had been eating peanut butter, even though it was a while before. And can hardly stand the tube, with all those perfumes and armpits. Bleugh.

Not too tired though, which is a bonus as work is crazy-mad.

scotlass · 08/11/2008 17:23

Hi everyone,

roque I?m so sorry to hear your news. I hope you are OK and I know exactly what you mean about feeling some relief. Sometimes it hits later though and I hope you know we are here for you if you need us.

dan hope you had a great week-end away. PMSL at you taking the pee out of me, 16wks has felt like bloody decades. However I did work out I?ve been pregnant for 41wks over the last year and a bit so that may be why!! It?s refreshing to be on 2nd trimester and not feeling quite as dreadful. Having serious cravings for wine though , not sure that?s supposed to happen.

sparky and wheely I?m so happy you both had good scans. I love the vibes that come through the pc when it?s been good, gives us all a wee lift!

ladylush that?s great they?re taking your thyroid problem seriously ? sending sticky baby dust your way!

swali we?re at the same stage (I?m due a few days ahead according to the list). I?ve no hope of fitting in my jeans but maternity ones fall down without a belt. I kind of wondered if the bump was pushing my normal padding out further (which makes me look like Buddha) and once the bump stretches it will stretch said padding out! I?ve been having some kick sensations (I think that?s what they are) but not often enough or blatantly obvious enough to take away paranoia. Just think though we?re sooo close to the halfway mark so that?s a good sign.

I?ve ordered a Doppler ? should be here Tuesday. I?m very excited .

dan39 · 08/11/2008 18:11

Just a quick hello from my weekend away - just been in the bath lacerating shaving legs - does one eventually just give up on this as its such a job?? Also cut my toenails which was hilarious too, might be the last time!!....then got in bath and tummy moved lots - I know this might be annoying to hear for those of you in the no-man's land between 12 week scan and movement, but the movements are REALLY hurting me! I feel stretched to bursting point and it really jabs at me, also I get pins and needles in one partic spot.

Was walking round Stirling today wanting to double over and cry. I think its going to just burst me open...its really uncomfy! i have to kind of double over and sqeeze myself to ease it...

And I just dunno what is normal - am I a wimp? Sorry to moan about this, I was dying to get to the stage of feeling something so I know its a bit crap to complain...

Anyway gotta get into posh frock and stockings (ooh er dh will think he is on a promise, won't tell him they are just easier to get into and off to the free champers (well a half a glass anyway) for me!!

Sorry will catch up with everyone's news later but well done wheely in the meantime!

scotlass · 08/11/2008 22:54

Hope you have the best time in Scotland! I'm about half an hour away from Stirling.

I remember walking round Darlington many times when pg with DD and having to stop cos of pains. bath times were also a fun football time for her. You're not a wimp, it's just baby bump, mention it to your MW next time though in case a physio appt is called for for an assessment.

Top tip for shaven legs in pg - get DH to do it! (men are used to shaving I figure and it's half his fault your in the predicament.

Toenails - treat yourself to a pedicure, they are the best thing in the world!

at your posh frock. I tried some dresses on today for xmas ball in 4wks and look like jabba the hut

Have a lovely sober night!

scotlass · 08/11/2008 22:57

oh and another thing

I walked up the wallace monument at 7mths pg - completely bonkers. Every time someone tried to pass I tried to breathe in and my belly just stayed jutting out. The American tourists thought I was off my head - I think they were right.

Gilly - so sorry things aren't progressing as you would wish. I can't imagine how frustrating it must be to have cycles cancelled because of overstimulating. I hope you hear soon re IVF - I have a number of friends who have been very successful (and quickly) using IVF - I know its no guarantee but it will at least give you a new focus. I am glad work is going well in the meantime although understand about it not being what you really want. I do think about you often and try and keep an eye out for you on the conception boards (if that doesn't sound too stalkerish) but never want to intrude on ttc boards as I know what its like. I really hope you're over here v. soon.

All being well I am due 13 March which in some ways seems ages away and in others like its coming up v. quickly. Am sure once the festive season gets going time is going to start flying (hopefully for us both !).

Take care !

Hello everyone else - hope you've all had boringly uneventful weekends in the nicest possible way (unless lotsof nice things have happened of course). Thanks for all the good wishes.

sussexoldspot · 09/11/2008 21:31

Hello everyone!

Just popping by to say that I have my 2nd reassurance scan tomorrow (two weeks ago, they were unable to see anything apart from 2 sacs and what they thought were yolks, even though I was pretty sure I was at 7 weeks). Am feeling really stressed and anxious and have been on the point of chickening out - am so worried that it might be another mmc. Really wish I was striding up the Wallace Monument right now in the wind and rain (bit of a trek from Eastbourne, though!).

Am off to do a bit of strenuous housework to take my mind off things!

All the very best to you Gilly - your job sounds wonderful. Hopefully you'll be here fretting with the rest very soon.

ladylush · 09/11/2008 21:45

Hope all goes well tomorrow Sussex - thinking of you.
Ses - yeah thanks, it was a relief.
Scotlass - thanks. Hope you feel a bit more reassured when you get the doppler If I get that far, I might hire one myself.
I am still not even 6 weeks yet. Been getting headaches and feeling slightly sick in the evenings so hopefully these are good signs.
Roque - hope you are getting some R&R
Wheely - great news about the scan You must feel so relieved.
