dan - I'm soo jealous you found a posh frock you can get excited about. I have a ball coming up and don't think any of the old dresses will fit - but at 14 weeks (by then, God willing) - it doesn't feel right to be dressing in a maternity frock. I hate with a passion my old maternity clothes - they have got to be the saddest frumpiest collection of clothes ever. But I think I will struggle to look like a sex kitten no matter what I wear!!!!!

Hello there herb

looby - ouch ouchity ouch! I wish there was a manual with fabulous responses to all those silly pregnant comments.

daisy - I love Finlay - I had that at the top of my short list but dp isn't keen alas. At secondary school I used to stare out the window and swoon over a boy named Finlay who lived over the road. He was dark haired and brooding. Gorgeous.

scotlass - thanks - nice to get past 8+5. Now I've just to get past 12+4 when I had a threatened miscarriage with dd. If I reach 14 weeks - I will kick my heels up and open champagne

roque thinking of you.

kate2179 · 03/11/2008 13:34

Daisy* that's such fantastic news! I can't believe how quickly your pg seems to have gone! Can't wait for photos and gory details!

Herby congratulations to you too, you probably won't remember me, but I'm pretty sure I remember you from here and the avengers from about this time last year? I'm so sorry to hear what you've been through, I really hope this is the lucky one for you. I hope you don't mind me asking, but do you know which trisomies your babies had? We lost our little boy due to triploidy last April. I'm hoping there are happier times ahead for all of us.

herbaceous · 03/11/2008 13:53

I remember you! It was a great bunch of ladies on that thread. I really wanted to come to the pregnancy boards with you, but I'm about nine months too late!

As for trisomies, my MC at 13 weeks, sept 06, was trisomy 18, or Edwards Syndrome. The one last March, lost at 11 weeks, was trisomy 13, or Patau's syndrome. The two before weren't tested, as 'it was only 2'.

According to various experts, all the trisomies have been just down to bad luck, with a pinch of old age thrown in. But natch I'm paranoid that all my eggs are bad, and this one will die too.

cece · 03/11/2008 14:22

Hello kate and hello herb!

All well here. Got 12 week scan this Weds. Getting nervous as hell. DH being very casual about the whole thing. I asked him if he was still OK for Weds and he asked me why?!

Appointment is at 2 pm. Wondering what to do about school run if they are running late at the hospital. Don't really want to tell anyone yet but will need to rope someone in incase I don't turn up...

scotlass · 03/11/2008 14:42

Herbie you?ve been through such a lot it?s natural to be paranoid and worried sick. I really really hope that this one doesn?t have a trisomy. Will they do a CVS as a matter of course? The first trimester will seem like an eternity to you. Feel free to come on here to voice your concerns, this thread kept me sane when no one in RL knew and even now they do. I think there?s a few of us on here who would be classed as ?older mums?. I?m still a spring chicken of 36 so not quite ready for over 40?s thread

Roquefort have you been checked out yet? They hopefully have taken your bloods at the very least so there is something to go on. Is your spotting still bad? I hope you are OK, I?ve been thinking about you. Xx

lizzie and maz welcome, I hope you both have a long uneventful stay.
Lizzie That must?ve been a terrible time for you and your DP losing your twins. I agree with ses an early scan really helped me deal with this pg after 3 mc?s. Lesley Regans book recognises the importance of TLC the first trimester for women who have miscarried so find out what provision there is for you in your area (it seems to vary depending where you live)
Maz it does get easier I promise but you never get over the paranoia!

Looby congrats on your nuchal result ? that?s great news.

Dan, I laughed and laughed at your ballet story! My DD unfortunatelyloves dancing and has been going for past 5yrs. Now wait till you have to sit through 3hr amateur shows, sew sequins on bloody everything, make a costume out of a bit of material the size of a belt, sit in a dressing room full of hyper 5yr olds and do it all over again every year!! Maybe your girl will be a tom boy! I never for one minute envisaged the time / effort put in to supporting DD?s dancing when I was pg. It does mean I get 6hrs of peace on a Saturday now though and DD absolutely loves going.
I?m glad you got a dress too ? I?ve a xmas ball to go to beginning of Dec and am hoping to squeeze into a frock I?ve got which was quite roomy. I?ll be about 21wks by then so I may be in cloud cuckoo land and be last minute shopping!

Looby I am having the same problem with maternity trousers ? I have to put a belt on loosely to stop me mooning at everyone! I?ve finally admitted defeat and there?s no way my normal jeans will fit now!!

daisy I look forward to the champagne

Well my update, I phoned comm. MW this morning and she sent me to day care. Heard FH via Doppler ? yay, thank god cue more tears! I had blood in my urine (probably due to the bleeding??) but they sent a urine sample and have put me on antibiotics in case it is a UTI. I also had an examination and he diagnosed cervical erosion which is causing the brown staining. Apparently the cells at the neck of the cervix have came out a bit due to the pregnancy and bleed slightly which mixed in with normal discharge make it look worse ? sorry not very medical termed but basically he says nothing to worry about.

kate2179 · 03/11/2008 14:43

Golly this is just like old times!

scotlass · 03/11/2008 14:45

Hi cece. Good luck for Wednesday. I'd definately make an excuse for someone to cover your school run - we were at hospital 3hrs for 12 wk scan.

roquefortlover · 03/11/2008 15:14

Hello everyone and welcome to new people/returners!

cece i can't believe you are 12 weeks, that's fantastic. I would def. arrange for school run cover - I often cover for ds's friends' mums in this sort of situation and never really ask why they need me to, so any excuse from doctor's appt to work meeting should do!

scotlass am so glad you are OK, that's great news.

dan your dress sounds swish! Am rather envious of you going to posh occasion, the last one I was invited to - nearly 2 years ago - I had to miss as I had flu! Sod's Law again you see.

Thanks everyone for supportive thoughts - I am still being rubbish and have not been to get checked out . BUT I plan to see my GP tomorrow - have to ring in the morning for an appt due to weird surgery booking system. We shall see. I'm still spotting on and off but it hasn't got any worse and I feel really awful otherwise - headache, nausea etc.

Will keep you posted!

SparkyMalarky · 03/11/2008 16:15

3 hours really? With DS1 I had almost no wait at all, but have my 12 wk scan on thursday - late morning - so plenty of time for them to be delayed!

Am feeling so much better that am v v worried about it all....even though I currently have a strange piece of elastic holding up my jeans which fit 2 months ago! (and with the zip coming down, I have to keep pulling my t-shirt over the top. Very attractive )

enough about me...Roque - tiny slap of hand for not calling GP today, but you have enough to worry about. Hope you get seen/get referral to your EPU and thinking of you in the meantime.

Scotlass - glad all is ok

Helllllooooo all new joiners and congratulations on the BFPs. It's such a worrying time but this thread is a great place to share all your concerns. I feel like I can fully indulge my mad as snakes side here and be fully supported

cece · 03/11/2008 17:23

Roque - hope you get an appointment soon.

scotlass - good news about your spotting, such a relief.

School run now sorted. My neighbour is a SAHD and he is going to collect them if we are delayed. Luckily he has a 7 seater car so can fit mine in as well if he needs to.

ladylush · 03/11/2008 17:35

Roque glad the spotting isn't worse. Still got fingers crossed for you.
I am only 5 weeks tomorrow. My milestone is 9 weeks as the last one died just after 8 week scan. It will be a long 4 weeks.

TMD · 03/11/2008 18:01

Hi ladies, Lovely to read all your threads so freindly and supportive of each other.
roquefortlover - be thinking of you keeping everything crossed.
Loubylou36 - fab news on test, I think prob asked you to take someone with you as appointments can run over hours and nothing worse than sitting on your own worrying that'll increase your blood pressure before you get in to see consultant! Take a snack and drink and good book or mag def helped me.
As for baby they start moving before 14wks so it might be possible for you to detect fluttering movements each preg different!
Hello to herbaceous Please stay positive healthy mind = healthy body = healthy spirit Hard I know when you feel everything against you but only you can turn it around...It took me a while to accept that myself but I did and after mc last month decided need ttc again.
Hi lizzie so sorry mmc I feel are harder to come to terms with as so oblivious to what happening so more of a shock ( well for me it was) I had one a year before my little one was born first time round too so took it hard. It does get easier but give yourself time. Sending you Happy stress free fairy dust hope it helps, try a distraction i've thrown myself into craft to keep me occupied try making your own xmas cards quite theraputic!!!

Can anyone help me out I'm not sure when to expect my next monthly after mc last month? If I take the day I bled as first day, this wed is 28 days but as it wasn't a norm period plus so heavy but only one half days.... arhhhh so confussed!!!!{blush]

scotlass · 03/11/2008 18:08

TMD my AF returned at different times after each of my mc's. I think anytime 4-6wks is kind of normal. Mine usually came then. My cycle seemed longer as well than my normal 28days, I think I was on 31days when I fell pg this time (2mths after mc).

dan39 · 03/11/2008 18:17

TMD I think it depends on your own body - some ple bleed after 4 weeks and some take six. I think it might be a waiting game for you again I am afraid! I don't necessarily think the bleed caused by the mmc can be counted as a menstrual bleed, so don't worry about the days of your cycle til you actually do have a menstrual bleed. But it seems that the female body is a clever little thing and it tends to get itself back on track arond 4 - 6 weeks later.

Scotlass congrats on your heartbeat and reasons for blood!!(IYSWIM...) well done for checking...

And as for you, Roque - > you make sure you go in the morning! You are feeling grotty so that's a good sign. So go see - fingers and toes crossed for you.

And for all of you in the funny falling down trousers stage - i will share my little desperation fashion secret - braces! They are brill for the in between bit! Only ones I could keep up were the ones with the big foldy over band, but with the band not folded over, and with a t shirt or top that was tight-ish over it to kind of anchor it. Now in the same ones but with them well folded under the bump and things deffo fall down less now. Mind you I don't exactly move far!!!

Dh been a sweetie today - who says men don't care? Dishwasher packed in last night and he sent me a text at 9.30 am today to say we have a new one coming next tue - romance isn't dead!!

Party frocks for the not quite huge among us - Monsoon have lots of nice ones with lots of gathers, might work? they are pricey of course...

dan39 · 03/11/2008 18:19

Oh and Hi Maz and welcome - it does get easier! Fingers crossed for you...

And Louby your dh is lovely!

daisyj · 03/11/2008 18:23

Hi everyone ? so much to catch up on!

Hello to herbaceous - fantastic news!!! Be as mad as you like lizzie - welcome ? all the best of luck for this pg ? it must have been horrible for you, but Ses is right, an early scan can be such a comfort. maz - congratulations ? pull up a chair and join the madhouse.

Congrats to lackadaisy - Finaly?s a lovely name

Hi to Kate - Good to ?see? you and looking forward to you joining us soon .

dan - your dress sounds FAB!

looby - hurrah for the great nuchal results

scotlass - so glad all OK ? you must have been frantic.

roque - hope all OK. Thinking of you and crossing fingers. Keep us posted

TMD - it does seem to vary but 4-5 weeks seems the norm. I had very light periods my first two after mc, which didn't seem like 'proper' periods - only really one day of proper bleeding, but I think it's usual for them to take a while to regulate, although that doesn't mean you can't get pg again quickly, as I and many others have proved .

All OK here. Lots of baby movements, and DH even got to feel a ?kick? the other day ? he was really excited and astonished ? it was very sweet. I?m 19+2 today and have been feeling quickening since 15+ weeks. I?m quite slim so DH could feel the movement on the outside even though I wouldn?t quite call it a kick I?m expecting one any day, though .

Hi and to everyone else. xx

LackaDAISYcal · 03/11/2008 22:56

a small annoouncement

quick hello to say i'm home and things are going well.

I'll catch up tomorrow and hope everyone is well.

dan39 · 03/11/2008 23:57

daisy just read your story and laughed and cried! What a great one - brilliant, you clever clever girl!

at daisy5 good to hear things well with you. The 'kick' word is a biig lie too - makes ple expect something other than what it is!! I just love the term 'quickening' as it describes it so well.I am now at the (26+6) stage where the movements are nothing short of vicious and in fact was watching Goldfrapp tonight (at a gig! get me with the young people!) and had to leave early as was so uncomfy....but of course I love it really!!

Made me think about the list (which I am moving up very rapidly, ulp) - anyone seen it recently? We could do with an update on it. I guess its a case of going back to find last one? Might give it a whirl tomoro - we will also need a new thread soon. Any clever volunteers??

Anyway gotta lie down..this really hurts - is it normal to feel real discomfort under ribs for such a long time - to the extent that I want to cry, and the skin feels sort of tingly and numb at the same time? It feels like suffocation from the inside? Been about two weeks...am I just a wimp with a very low pain threshold?

LoobyLou36 · 04/11/2008 07:09

Well Done LackaDAISYcal

LoobyLou36 · 04/11/2008 07:13

Brilliant story btw daisy

I still have trouble believing I'm still pg 14+2 and still checking I have a bump every morning when I wake up - I am a looney.

Does anyone know where I can find some maternity jeans that aren't enormous? I can no longer fit into any "normal" ones that I have and I've won some petite 14 over the bump ones from mothercare but they are huge (if my bum gets that wide I am sure that DH will divorce me) lol. I am new to all this - first baby. Would under the bump be better? I only have a 28" leg tho and I am trying not to spend too much money hence buying second hand, but feel I may have no choice as I don't want to look like a clown.

SesHashadafab12weekscan · 04/11/2008 07:38

Morning LoobyLou!

I'm with you on sometimes not believing I'm pg. I'm 13+2 and haven't got a huge bump yet to check!

I have an appointment with consultant today as my care is combined due to my underactive thyroid problems. Should all be ok but wondering if they'll try and listen to hb which would be reassuring.

Daisy - read your announcement and lovely story Really happy for you - congrats

LoobyLou36 · 04/11/2008 08:16

SesHashadafab12weekscan good luck with the consultant. I've got first appointment with mine next week due to existing high blood pressure.

roquefortlover · 04/11/2008 11:15

Good luck with the consultant ses. daisy what a fab birth story, really inspirational. Well done you !

Well, I have seen my GP at last (my delay not theirs ). She was really sympathetic and helpful. We talked about an EPU scan but in the end I felt it wouldn't really help me to have one before 6 weeks as it would be bound to be inconclusive (that is what happened with my last mc and I found it very stressful going for repeat scans etc).

So, she has made an appt for me to talk to her again next Weds and if I have not mc'ed by then then we will more than likely look at going to EPU. I will be nearly 7 wks then so scan is more likely to be conclusive.

Basically then, just keep going as I was for another week! Spotting is very stop/start but has never stopped completely IYSWIM.

sussex, are you still away? How are you doing?

Swaliswan · 04/11/2008 13:21

Afternoon, Ladies.

I've just remembered that I have a midwife appointment this afternoon and I don't have a urine speci bottle! I'm sat here twiddling my thumbs getting anxious about hearing the FHB. Can someone remind me when I'm supposed to start feeling this baby move? It's DC2 but I'm sure that I felt DD at about 16 weeks. I'm 15+3 today btw.

downbutnotout · 04/11/2008 13:27
