Flossish · 27/08/2008 21:30

aww, good luck aitch. I hope it all goes well if the section goes ahead tomorrow. Don't stress, your in good hands I'm sure. xx

madmouse · 27/08/2008 21:48

oh aitch, I am sorry, that is so hard and stressful. Here's hoping that she will be bigger than they think.

I have a mate who had both hers out around the same time as she was very ill. You would never believe it looking at these huge teenage boys.

hang in there, when my lo was in scbu (he was the only full sized one in nicu) i saw tiny premmies fighting so hard and being so tough it is truly amazing.

will be thinking of you.

TrinityRhino · 27/08/2008 21:51

more positive vibes coming from this way

hugs and love

ShinyPinkEELSwithShoesOn · 27/08/2008 21:56

Ok I have hesitating before posting this as I have to admit that when you said section I thought you meant the other kind of sectioning

Anyway. Now that's out of the way I am so sorry to hear this- what a shock this must have been.

To reassure you though, my twin nephews were born at 31 weeks and did very well, very quickly.

Will be thinking of you and praying for everything to go smoothly x

StealthPolarBear · 27/08/2008 21:58

I haven't talked to you Aitch, but it could have been me posting your op 5 years ago.

My DS was born at 34 weeks. I was admitted at 33weeks with PE and DS had IUGR. I had two lots of steriods then c-section, he was 2lbs 10oz spent 3 weeks in scbu putting on weight and came home weighing 3lb 12oz. He is now nearly 5 and starting school this September and people are always shocked when they find out how small he started off as he has totally caught up.

I managed expressing whilst he was in scbu and then 3 weeks of 'proper' bf. If I'd had MN then I'm positive I would have been able to bf longer.

Sorry that was off tangent, will be thinking of you and baby Aitch tomorrow. x

ChirpyGirl · 28/08/2008 00:41

Sending vibes from here too, hope it is all going well, x

Hi Aitch, I hope you see this. As you know Callum was a 33 weeker last year and was taken to SCBU. When your LO is born, they may let you have a quick glimpes of her, before they take her to SCBU. They will give her o2 and put her into an incubtor. Your DH will be able to go with her. They will weigh her and she may need C-PAP for a few days ( depends on the baby) They will tell you to start expressing asap, but unfortunely they will give her formula until your milk comes in. They will give her tube feeds until she is strong enough to start BF. The nurses may say that a premature baby will not start BF till 35-36 weeks but that is rubbish, it depends on the baby.
Ask about Kanagroo care. Express every 2 hours, and get a very good hospital grade pump (I have an Amela that I can post to you if you wish to borrow it) Do not let the nurses and doctors bully you into 'giving a bottle, because she is rooting' they say that to make their nights a bit easier.

Email me at mieow79 (at) hotmail (dot) com and I will sort out some bits for you, and I am sure Lisad has some tiny girlie bits too.
Hope it all goes well

Aitch, just seen this, oh oh oh, I wish you lots of strength and I hope for little teeny to stay and tarry a while inside.

And I hope you can take courage from the good people who have posted positive stories of their tinys who arrived early and have thrived and grown and grown.

Wrt to bfing lulu has said good things as ever, and establishing bfing after first disruption is possible too. Hang on in there mate and good luck - thinking of you both.

x
