Just seen this. Hopefully baby will stay inside for a bit longer but if not then I am sure she will be well looked after. SCBU can be initimidating and their main focus will be your baby, not you. Hope you are able to breasfteed ok.

Not all births go according to plan but you have to adapt the plans as best you can.

sister's baby was 1lb 11 oz and she's fine, bloody gorgeous, and born at 27 or 28 weeks. Don't worry, you'll be fine.

Oh and my sister had pre eclampsia too and baby hadn't grown since 25 weeks. My thought are with you Aitch, but I'm sure all will be fine.

I've recently met a lovely woman at my baby bistro who gave birth at 32 weeks by CS. They'd worried about growth etc, but the little one came out at around 4lbs. She was able to go home only 2.5 weeks after birth and is still (at 10 weeks) breastfeeding successfully. Its heartwrenching in a wonderful way to watch that georgeous tiny baby breastfeeding. Of course her mum's finding it hard with the constant feeding demands, but she's doing it, and I hope you'll be able to too, as from what I've read that's what you really want.

I had my ds at 33 weeks weighing 2lb 15oz - he is going to be 7 next week and had no problems with him
He came out needing to just feed and grow

My dd was born at 32+4. Had to be tube fed expressed milk but then took to BF well and is now 21 months and a fine chubby little thing.

if they need to get baby out then it's for the best and 33 weeks really isn't in scary territory anymore.

pre eclampsia is very dangerous (deadly if you stay preg) so it really will be for the best if they get baby out.

breastfeeding is entirely possible, make sure they don't try and bully you into giving ff to top her up when your expressing colustrum, just pump as much of it as you can bear so that when your milk comes in you'll have a good supply. the hospital will probably have electric pumps that you can use. get baby onto your chast as much as possibe if they're well enough and express some milk for him/her to lick.

don't worry, being a premmie doesn't mean you'll definitely end up ff again, you might choose to if things get on top of you but if you feel up to expressing and feeding it should be entirey possible.

Please, everyone, good vibes, thoughts and prayers for Aitch and wee one that wee one can stay inside her mummy for as long as possible but if not that things go well.

I've not heard from her since this morning and hope she is getting some rest.

I don't think Aitch had mentioned to MN wide that she was pregnant, she seemed to sneak it out when she was talking about her builders, I think she had been keeping it a secret.
