Wishing you lots of love and fingers crossed for you.
I am 34 weeks myself so I know a little of the worry you face. At least you are being taken care of and hospital are ready for you and miniAitch.

Gingerbear · 27/08/2008 10:56

Thinking of you aitch. I hope your blood pressure falls, the section is postponed and your baby has more time to grow. I am sending positive thoughts your way xx

Can I just Second what Mars said about colostrum into the syringe, this is exactly what we did when dd4 was born and continued to do this until my milk came in.

wats, no, but I printed off this thread this morning and stuck it in the post to her at the hosp - so she'll get everyone's good wishes in the morning, with luck.

Aitch, my friend's ds survived at 26 weeks. She too had pre-eclampsia. Was touch and go but they all got through. (Yorkhill is a great hospital). He is now 22 months and is catching up with his peers and is a funny gorgeous little boy.

So it CAN be OK.

Thinking of you all xx

MummyAnnabella · 27/08/2008 12:49

havent had time to read whole thread but i had ds last summer at 33+1 and he ended up being 4lb13.

he was tube feed my expressed breast milk for 10 days and then he caught on to B/F and we never looked back. by 3 months he was average size and has meet all normal milestones.

so long as you get your steroids the breathing thing should be okay. the b/f you just need to try every time baba looks awake enough and a few sucks usually tires them out but at least they learn the skill.

then one day they just take off - for me it was day 10 when he just started to suck strongly and to be honest i think b/f was easier for me as you have so many staff in neo natal to support you compared to on a ward. also they are smaller and feed in smaller amounts which made it easier.

big plus too is that they sleep more and you are really eased into parenting. honestly my whole experience was positive and i am sure yours will work out okay too.

katierocket · 27/08/2008 12:51

have been away from MN for a while but saw this and had to post - hope all is ok Aitch.

Aitch, no time to read thread properly or send proper post as at work, but lots of luck and good vibes. Hope lo can stay inside as long as possible.

I know how worried you must be about the bfing; we have commiserated over our bfing histories before...but although its not an ideal start you will still be able to do it...and you will know so much more now than you did the first time.

Thinking of you...
