I agree Marina. Why isn't the test for toxoplasmosis standard? After all, if you are immune wouldn't that mean you could munch Parma Ham etc to your heart's content?.

NQWWW · 14/04/2003 13:02

Definitely agree on the tests thing - would prevent a whole lot of worry.

Thanks forest for the message re our NCT meet-up - she seemed able to talk about it a bit without getting too upset, and we did manage to keep off the topic of the ongoing pregnancies in the group.

ANGELMOTHER · 27/04/2003 12:43

Well how's everyone doing. Haven't been on for a while so thought I'd catch up also pass on my newly discovered weapon : Green Tea aids my indigestion and constipation simultaneously, some old hands may already know this but I'm pretty amazed by it....
My indigestion has proved quite extreme since all energy levels returned to normal so need all the help I can get.
Congrats on the Boy Bekki, funny how you can be convinced of the sex isn't it.
Right now there is no doubt in my mind that this time it's a boy (although dd is dying for a sister) but won't have my scan for another 3 weeks and am dying to find out.
Anyone else have any premonitions on the sex and been proven right or wrong yet?

Hello everyone, thought I would join this thread since I'm due 1st Oct. Was a bit slow to realise I'm pregnant (2nd time), found out 3 weeks ago, had a dating scan last week thinking I was about 8 weeks but I'm actually 17 weeks now! Since finding out I've suddenly grown and am feel quite a bit of fluttering. I've been very lucky to get through the 1st trimester without any pregnant side-effects and although it's a bit of a shock to find out that your EDD is a couple of months early than you expected, it's great to miss out on the first few months of uncertainty and secrecy. Hope everyone else is now enjoying the "blooming" stage.

ANGELMOTHER · 27/04/2003 13:24

Well done Woodge how wonderfull to completely bypass those weeks of nausea and tiredness.
I think the best thing about this stage is aside from "blooming" you actually start to look pregnant and not just fat

NQWWW · 28/04/2003 14:35

Congratulations Woodge - you are lucky not to have felt sick and tired.

Angelmother - I was wondering where you were! Yes, I've just been completely confounded at my 20-week scan, to find I'm almost certainly expecting a girl. I was convinced it was a boy, especially when my midwife listened to the heartbeat and said she thoght so too. Can't quite adjust to the news - partly cos I am expecting baby 2 to be exactly like ds1. I'm quite happy about it tho.

I've been made redundant (no sympathy please - I volunteered and am very happy about it) so have to go out this pm and look at home computers so I can get my regular mumsnet fix.

Ailsa · 30/04/2003 13:48

Add me to the list - having said never again after number 2, I am now somewhere between 22 and 24 weeks. By date I am 22 weeks but scan says 24 weeks!

Bekki · 30/04/2003 23:12

Seems like a big baby then! Congrats and welcome to the pregnancy thread.

ScummyMummy · 01/05/2003 06:55

Congratulations Ailsa! That's great news.

bells2 · 01/05/2003 08:08

Congratulations Ailsa!. How old are your other two now?

ANGELMOTHER · 01/05/2003 09:25

Congrats and welcome Ailsa.
NQWWW congrats on the girl, you can spend your newfound freedom shopping for pink things now

OP posts:
Marina · 01/05/2003 13:04

Congratulations Ailsa, you were very discreet about that! Hope you are keeping well.

Ailsa · 01/05/2003 13:21

Thanks everyone.

Bells - they'll be 9 & 6 when this one puts in an appearance. They're both really excited, ds wants it now!

Oakmaiden · 01/05/2003 13:48

Can I grumble about how cr*p I'm feeling? 16+ weeks now, and I still feel like poo. I feel SOOO exhausted that I have to go and lie down if I do anything strenuous, I keep needing to sit with my head between my legs (dignified, that) because I feel so faint I feel like I am about to pass out, most mealtimes I have to overcome nausea and force myself to eat (still). And I'm really cross about it. It wasn't like this at all with ds. I wanted to really enjoy this pregnancy - and I want to go swimming without feeling like I am not going to make it to the end of the pool. And I'm feeling grumpy (can you tell?)

Bagelpie · 06/05/2003 13:15

Hi I am totally new to this Mumsnet and to being pregnant - although and thrilled to say we are expecting our first on 6th Sept.

Just wondered has anyone else had a 20 week scan and been called back for another one 3 weeks later because of the 'Doppler' test? I have to go back next week because there were 'notches' that shouldn't have shown up on my blood scan.

Also - final question does anyone have any specific comments on 3 wheeler from birth strollers?

Hope to hear back from one or more of you.

ANGELMOTHER · 06/05/2003 18:38

Poor Oakmaiden you'll feel better soon, just rest up as much as poss, maybe Seabands might work they helped me in the end.
Congrats and welcome Bagelpie, love the name I'm currently going thru a Bagel phase.
I had a three wheeler for dd1 from birth, a simple Mothercare version and as I did a lot of walking it got good use, was really happy with it but am not getting the same this time. Reason being that I want an easy life and a solid umbrella folding Mclaren which fits in the boot and still leaves room for shopping....
EmmaTMG hope scan went ok...

Got my new computer - hurrah!

Welcome Bagelpie and congratulations. I haven't heard of the Doppler thing - didn't they explain it to you at all? Have you had the further scan yet?

Dannib · 19/05/2003 14:50

Hi everyone, just found this site. I'm 20 weeks & I'm due on 25th Sept. Its my first & have recently felt it start kicking! Which is the strangest sensation I have ever felt! Have my 20 week scan soon & wondering what to expect? Can you always tell the sex of the baby just by the scan?

bells2 · 19/05/2003 15:17

Congrats! I am due on the 27th. I had my scan last week which revealed that we are expecting a boy (have one of each so far). I think that generally at 21 weeks they can detect the sex although as has been said elsewhere, this is by no means necessarily accurate. Aside from that, at this scan the sonographer will be looking at the spine, and all the major organs etc in order to confirm that the baby is developing normally. Best of luck.

EmmaTMG · 19/05/2003 15:34

Congratulations first of all and welcome to mumsnet....are you addicted yet?
We've got 2 boys already and although we didn't find out with DS1 (Dear Son No.1, incase the codes confuse you as much as they did me!) at my 20 week scan I was sure I saw a little willy, which I obviously did, we found out what we were having with DS2 but again I saw his bits before I was told.
I'm 22 weeks now and covered my eyes at my 20 week scan this time as DH (Dear Husband) wanted a surprise this time and I couldn't trust myself to find out and not tell him, although I'm sure there's another boy in there. Only 18 weeks to wait I suppose.....Aaaaaaarrrrgggghhhhhhhhhhh 18 weeks!

NQWWW · 19/05/2003 22:55

Welcome Dannib - and yes, isn't it the wierdest feeling? (but great!).

They are apparently more likely to be right about it being a boy than about it being a girl - because the prediction of a boy is based on seeing the "boy bits", and the girl prediction is just the absence of those bits - which could be because something is obscuring the view. This is how our sonographer explained it to us. She still said she was 99% sure we're having a girl - we shall see!

NQWWW · 19/05/2003 22:57

BTW, I couldn't tell what was what at all when she was looking at those bits. Enjoy the scan!

ANGELMOTHER · 10/06/2003 23:52

Thought I'd catch up whilst dh is out and not hogging the pc as I never seem to get online these days.
Had scan a while back and am delighted to find out another dd is on the way. I never had a sister which I felt a shame and am delighted that dd will have one now, also means I can buy pink galore in the future knowing it will get good use.
Have had some pain in legs but some days good some bad, overall I feel great if a little tired and am surprised how fast this pg seems to be going.
Hope you're all doing as well as me....except for the odd panic attack...... how the *k am I going to deal with the pain bit

OP posts:
NQWWW · 11/06/2003 15:15

Angelmother - know what you mean about the panic thing - I'm much more scared this time than the first time! Meanwhile, my dp is determined we should get a last minute holiday in the sun (he thinks having 2 kids means we'll never manage to get on a plane again). I really don't feel like it, but he goes on and on every day about how we must get something booked.

ANGELMOTHER · 12/06/2003 10:17

NQWWW take advantage of a holiday if one is offer, lets face it it's not often you can let your belly hang out with pride on a beach
