@PhoenixSTL the female body does some weird and wonderful things that are all within the realm of normal, hopefully this is one of them. I hope this isn't TMI or insensitive to say but if you've been constipated / just down a bowel movement increased spotting is meant to be normal.

Would you consider going to your EPU to put your mind at ease?

PhoenixSTL · 17/05/2026 20:37

@howluckyarewe that's reassuring and really helpful for me to hear right now, thank you! I'm going to see if the spotting continues tonight. If it does, then I'll call the GP tomorrow to see if they can refer me to EPU.

Ncl31 · 17/05/2026 21:51

@PhoenixSTL as @howluckyarewe has said a bowel movement particularly if you’ve been constipated can cause this.
a few weeks back when I had a bit of spotting it was after exactly this.
i hope the spotting settles down for you, when is your next scan? It might be worth going to EPU tomorrow anyway. Just to relieve and remaining anxiety. Praying everything is okay for you

PhoenixSTL · 17/05/2026 22:08

@Ncl31 yes, howluckyarewe was spot on, it was after a bowel movement. And so far, no more spotting 🤞 my partner is finishing my jobs for the evening, so i can relax and knit tonight.

My dating scan is the 1st June. Going on holiday on Friday for a week, so a bit anxious about going away 😅 and my partner can't come with us now, as his mum is going in for a major operation tomorrow. So he's staying back to help look after her, and look after our dog (who she'd usually dog sit for us)

howluckyarewe · 18/05/2026 13:53

@seasonOfChange hope the scan goes well for you today. ❤️

@PhoenixSTL glad things have settled for you. My dating scan is right after I'm back from holidays too - June 12th - and I'm considering a private scan just to make sure things are ok before flying. I'm only going to the UK though, so not sure if there's any need? Your EPUs sound fairly similar, if a bit more hands off.

In today's wins, I'm currently sipping an iced latte for the first time in weeks. I can't stand coffee in the first trimester, so incredibly glad to be able to stomach this energy hit right now!

PhoenixSTL · 18/05/2026 14:05

@howluckyarewe know what you mean about the coffee! This past week, I've been managing a small mug of decaf coffee in the afternoon. So good to be able to drink it again!

Can't wait to enjoy coffee again! Need it now more than ever 😴

9 week mark coming up on Wednesday, dating scan on the 12th June.
symptoms have slowed down.
i have an awful taste in my mouth, starving all the time but everything else seems to have gone.
is this normal?
last time my symptoms stopped we lost

howluckyarewe · 18/05/2026 16:51

@Niftymum88 9 weeks today & my symptoms have eased drastically (thank God). I was constantly nauseous and now I just get one or two random bursts. Looking at raw ingredients still makes me heave but I'm not just randomly spewing. The tiredness is easing too. I was able to concentrate at work today. Starving all the time too though, trying to eat more protein now that I can stomach it a bit better.

seasonOfChange · 18/05/2026 18:35

Hi ladies, thank you for your kind support. Unfortunately my worst fears have come true.

Wishing you all the most uncomplicated pregnancies. Take care x

hollyhocks2 · 18/05/2026 22:21

@seasonOfChange that is just heartbreaking, am thinking of you.

Alwaysgrowing · 19/05/2026 06:20

@seasonOfChange sorry to hear that.

I am 12 weeks today. Over the past week or so I've felt less sleepy. I don't work Mondays and had a restful weekend. I've dropped my naps same time as my 3 year old. I was looking forward to getting on with things I've neglected at work and have a list for today. But, I woke at 2:30 am and couldn't get back to sleep. Was close at 5:15 may have had a 10 minute doze. Me but then my 3 year old woke.

Desperatelyseekingme · 19/05/2026 07:18

@seasonOfChange so sorry to hear that, look after yourself 💐

PhoenixSTL · 19/05/2026 07:41

@Alwaysgrowing great to hear you're at 12 weeks! But oh gosh, the lack of sleep doesn't sound fun.

rach971 · 19/05/2026 09:03

I'm so sorry @seasonOfChange

I've just managed to get through to the midwives, who've confirmed I am down in their diary for my booking appointment today, so fingers crossed someone will actually turn up 😂

I also managed to get through to appointments yesterday and it is my dating scan a week today. As usual I can only imagine bad news and am just going to spend the next week anxious, nothing new there 🙄 I'd love to be like my partner who worries about absolutely nothing and just cracks on with life 😂

SausageRoll90 · 19/05/2026 09:41

Ive got my booking appointment tomorrow... And I've had quite a lot of cramps. On and off and I'm sure it's just normal cramping but god I'm anxious. I think I'm going to ask the midwife about a referral to perinatal mental health..I was under them when I was expecting my son and found it helpful as they did extra reassurance scans..I hoped I'd feel better this time but so far I feel just as anxious as I did last time. I so desperately want this to work 🙏🏻🤞🏻

thehopelessoverthinker · 19/05/2026 10:04

Checking into the new thread, I think I’m 11+3 today but have my dating scan tomorrow (which seems early to me?) so will see what they say then.

Ncl31 · 19/05/2026 10:25

@seasonOfChange so sorry to hear your news.

@thehopelessoverthinker nhs guidelines are 11-14 weeks for dating scan, but just to prepare you sometimes before 12 weeks they aren’t able to get the full measurement if you’ve opted for the screening for Down’s syndrome, so you may be asked to return for that. sooo exciting that we’re approaching dating scan time.

I have a reassurance scan on Thursday at 08:30, then my dating scan is next Wednesday - LMP states 12+3 but I think I’ll be more 12+1 from ovulation tracking.
only time will tell though.

MsPussinBoots · 19/05/2026 12:08

Got my scan date today! 16th June feels so far away. I'm off on holiday this weekend so please cross your fingers nothing goes wrong while I'm abroad with just DD for support.
