Oh bless you, definitely a lot to process. A friend of mine had this result and her baby had absolutely no issues. So there’s a really good chance your results are wrong too. Hope you manage to get nipt results quick! X

@hollyhocks2 im sorry youve had a higher risk result. Please know there are so many factors taken into account when formulating risk using the combined test. One single factor could skew the results. The nipt will give you a bit more clarity. Sending strength

@hollyhocks2 I hope the NIPT can be arranged quickly for you and the results come back soon. ❤️ Even though it's a higher chance of things coming back as regular, I can only imagine how stressful it is waiting for it to be confirmed. Were there any indicators on your scan? With my eldest two the sonographer said as long as there's a clear nasal bone, normal NT & no heart issues she usually has no issues reported after.

@Alwaysgrowing just a word of warning about them moving EDD forward a week - if you go overdue you might experience increased pressure to induce. I found that across both mine; late scans + big babies moved the EDD forward a week.

I found out I have to go public today and I'm spiralling a bit. My health insurance isn't accepted, and my hospital is 1k a night so not recommended to go out of pocket in case there's emergency stays. I had a pretty traumatic induction with my first, and due to the size of my second I knew going into this pregnancy it'd be high risk clinics & induction again. Trying to put it out of my mind but not very successfully. It'd help if my local hospital group wasn't one of the worst in the country!

Yes @howluckyarewe, i had pressure to induce with my 2nd when I was nearing 40 weeks. He was small, but we're not very tall and my children have e short grandparents and one tall one. I'm listening to a podcast birth untethered and they were talking about exactly this. Babies being concidered small and needing intervention when they're until the 10th percentile when it used to be 2nd. So I'm keeping in mind my December due date, my app actually had 8th December as I sometimes have longer periods so it did a personalised average ovulation. And LMP was 2nd December.

My son was dated exactly the same as lmp, but at 40+2 he had no vernex, and dry skin like he was actually more overdue. Babies will come when they're ready and, like last tim, I will think very carefully before accepting an induction. Eg if I feel well, and baby is moving regularly, everything is fine. My 2nd birth was without induction and much better.

I had my first scan today at 12+2 with EDD of 13 December. Feeling a lot more rough than in my last pregnancy!

Have managed to ease my worries today while awaiting 12 week scan in two weeks. I’m super lucky that my mum is a midwife! She brought her Doppler round and has found both heartbeats at 10 weeks. I feel so relieved and more hopeful everything’s going to be okay

@Alwaysgrowing spontaneous birth is so much easier IME! Even taking into account birth 1 vs 2.

@FastFish1993 glad your scan went well, though sorry you're feeling rough too. This stage is blegh, impatiently waiting on 2nd trimester vitality over here.

@frolickinglamb that's so lovely she can do that for you! What a sweet moment to share. I booked a private scan for this Thursday ahead of our holidays, to stop myself from being an anxious mess flying out. I'll be 11+3 so hopefully good news.

@hollyhocks2 I’m not sure if it’s at all comforting but I don’t put a lot of stock in the nt. my daughter came back low risk 1 in 8600….. she has Down syndrome. My son came back higher risk (although still low) he does not.

Thanks for the words of support. I actually went over to the hospital in the afternoon and got the NIPT done there and then, thinking the sooner I get the results the better. Still likely won’t know until Monday. The NT in my 12 week scan measured in the normal range so isn’t a factor in itself. No issues with heart noted. Am I right in thinking the nhs NIPT doesn’t tell you the sex?

I did get one bit of good news, that I don’t have low PAPPA. I did with my first and it led to a poor placenta and various concerns about growth, so hoping things will be different this time. I think my tiny baby was probably easier to give birth to! But overall I’d prefer a typical sized bub so there’s less worrying!

@hollyhocks2 so glad you managed to get the NIPT so quickly. I’ll keep my fingers crossed you get good news over the next few days. I think sometimes they get us worried about odds which are really in our favour. Hope all works out ok!

I’ve decided I’m going to have the combined test on the NHS and pay privately for the NIPT a few days later. I’m a worrier, so
just need to know!

Just received my NIPT results over the phone. Its all low risk
I started sobbing and my husband is like "why are you crying, its good news" Im crying cos im so relieved, duh!

@NewAgeDawning brilliant news!! From the sounds of it, are we all type A? 😆 Using mumsnet and far too much scrolling to distract myself until I'm in the should be all clear window!

Anyone else being a big chicken about telling work? I have a meeting in the office next week, so need to pull my finger out and tell my manager before I rock up with my very obvious bump!

Makes it feel so real doesn’t it! I just started a new job and I already told them I’m expecting. My new manager is due 6 weeks before me too which is so crazy! It’s been really lovely being open about it, and with the sickness and things, they are more understanding of what’s actually going on.

@hollyhocks2 I had the NIPT via the NHS but privately and they asked me if I wanted to know the sex. Said yes and they told me. That was the Iona test.

Thats interesting they have scored you 1 in 63 but your nt is ok and Papp scores are low. Hopefully the wait isn’t too long.

I told mine just before the blood test & scan appt as I thought it was easier than disappearing all the time. It was also just a good time in the conversation planning things for our team.

He seemed very alarmed I had told him before 12w though! Told me I wasn't supposed to tell anyone yet 🤣🤐

Ahh that's amazing! I had my first day at my new job yesterday and told them. My manager has a 3 year old already and was very supportive. I couldn't stop apologising for giving her more admin on my first day though.

Looking forward to it all going public so I stop having to pretend I don't feel like throwing up all the time.

@Growingaseed it was yes but she is doing amazing! For my last pregnancy and this pregnancy though I have opted for nipts I’m not sure I can handle another big surprise like that 😂

I'm worried about telling work, planning for end of June when my boss gets back from holiday. We don't have a maternity policy so I have no idea what she'll say about maternity pay.

I was so worried about telling work - although maybe not as much as the first time. I just find it so awkward. I told them just after the 12 week scan - I did debate putting it off for a week or so but I would have just worried more.

I was an anxious mess before telling my boss. Mainly because I’ve not been in the role long. Kept putting it off but bit the bullet and told my boss who was fine with it all, bit surprised but fine with it. Thankfully now can go to appointments without taking annual leave. Glad to have got it off my shoulders although I know I shouldn’t have been anxious

I havent told work yet. I work remotely so even though im already showing, i can hide. Besides I had a late loss last year so definitely want to make it past the 20 week anatomy scan and a private nipt before making it official.

I’ve told work, only my immediate bosses though. Phrased it as I wanted to give them as much notice as possible but asked that they keep my secret for a few weeks till I get through my 12 week scan.

I was taking so many random sick days, short notice dr appointments, it actually felt easier to tell them - then keep lying. I was also sure I’d miscarried at one point, so thought better to tell them in case I needed some extra time off.

Was actually surprised about how lovely everyone was about it.
