Hope all of your scans go well, sorry I’ve not been present; I’ve been suffering quite badly with anxiety for a few weeks which is new for me!

we had our nhs scan today, baby was perfect and measuring 11w5 days, due date 10th December, I can’t believe it’s actually happening for us still 🥹

@Em3009congratulations! Has seeing baby made you feel less anxious? Its a sensitive time for us all, 12 week scans are a big thing. Ive not had any so far so im guarding my heart. Im in a few ttc pages on fb and I dont even want to say the words "im pregnant". It all feels like a dream.

@NewAgeDawning yes massively! Seeing the heartbeat and an actual baby just relaxed me instantly, whereas last week I felt like I couldn’t breathe some days… sickness is getting worse though 😅

@SausageRoll90 it’s incredibly hard. So many of us in the same boat. Somehow the days and weeks pass and for most of us statistically it will work out ❤️

My scans not until 14 weeks next Tuesday. I didn't get an extra scan as I haven't had any miscarriages or anything. To be honest, I'm starting to feel a bit detached from my pregnancy. I'm hoping the scan will make it more real. I'm guarding myself I guess because I felt very attached and excited with my 2nd, until he was born then had a tough first year. Opposite to my 1st, when I struggled mentally, wasn't sure it was the right time in my life to start a family then really loved becoming a mum. So I really don't know what to expect this time so just taking life as it is.

How have all your scans gone?

Told boss this afternoon. He seemed a bit shocked but congratulated me. Built it up in my head that it’d be a disaster and have been so, so anxious but glad it’s gone OK. Wanted to let them know as I’ve got a booking apt tomorrow and needed to take the time off alongside a scan next week.

No point to this post but wanted to get my thoughts out.

Thanks everyone for your messages. Scan went well. I'm so relieved. Dated at 13 weeks, due date of 1st December but baby will arrive in November because it'll be a planned c-section. Sadly we didn't get good scan photos though as baby wasn't playing ball 😂

how is everyone feeling about their scans tomorrow? I don't know how I'm going to get through next 24 hours !!

@Desperatelyseekingme yeah im pretty nervous. Had been ok all this time but now im like gulp how about you?

@NewAgeDawning I have had a couple of early scans due to recurrent miscarriages, last one was 12 days ago but even with that reassurance I feel no better, super anxious. Something about this one being the "proper" one, I've been scanned every 2 weeks and if all goes well tomorrow I've no idea how I will last til 20 weeks !!!

@Desperatelyseekingmeit is a long gap between 12 and 20. Im sorry to hear of your previous losses, the good news is that the risk of miscarriage dramatically decreases at this point. You should be able to hear baby's heartbeat at your 16 week midwife appointment? If not offered, ask.

It's so lovely to hear of everyone's scans and official due dates! Getting very real now as we enter the second trimester - another 2 weeks until the scan for me.

How is everyone coping with the heat? I have zero clothes that fit, and anything I try on makes me look pot bellied instead of pregnant. 🥲 Looking forward to one month down the line when it looks cute instead of like a stuffed sausage roll.

Mood. I've had to go two sizes up and buy a new work wardrobe. Start a new job next week which is not the best timing - they don't know my news yet. Waiting for my 12w scan on Friday.

I'm eyeing up bundles on Vinted, I don't even have the energy to look at individual outfits at the moment 😆

@KelpieTheFirst congrats on the new role! Are you going to tell them first day or wait a bit to see how you settle?

Ironically I just bought a new work wardrobe to see me through the first trimester, and then did nothing but eat cheese wraps and curl up in the fetal position on the couch for the last few weeks. It's all a bit too tight for comfort now. 🥲

@KelpieTheFirst oh a new job, how are you feeling about going somewhere new? I also started a new job a week after I got my bfp. It means I wont be entitled to statutory mat pay but dont regret the move one bit.

Oh and ive been wearing my husbands shorts cos nothing else fits 🙃

@NewAgeDawning I forgot about the 16 week midwife appointment .. it's 14 years since I have done this so it all feels new.. will just be glad to get to this time tomorrow night.

my 12 week scan is on 18th June.. so long still.

@howluckyarewe Thanks! It's a small charity and I feel bad not telling them straight away and giving them max time to plan. I'll probably steel myself and tell them on the first day.

@NewAgeDawning the worst part is I had a three month notice period, so this little surprise has popped up since I interviewed 😆 I would've stayed put if I'd have known - for the mat pay - but I think we can survive on mat allowance and savings for the year.

@Alwaysgrowing that doesn’t sound surprising in a way considering your experiences. When do you next see your midwife? You could see if you’re still feeling detached by then, and if so you can let her know. Are you under perinatal mental health?

@JH20000 well done biting that bullet - not always an easy conversation but sounds like it went ok!

Yay @rach971 absolutely amazing. Maybe you’ll be the first of all of us to meet your baby! I mean compared with us meeting our babies, not meeting your baby - of course you’ll be the first one to meet YOUR baby…

@hollyhocks2 I am under perimental health. I got an obstetrics appointment for around 16 weeks but couldn't make the time and next one was a week later so not for another 4 weeks. Now just after my 16 week appointment (22nd June). So yes, I'll see how I feel after my scan.
