I've worried myself now :( I had one pregnancy test left over so decided to just use it up. The test line is much darker than the control line. When I last did one 2-3 weeks ago, the control line was as dark if not darker than the test line. Roll on my scan next week :(

@rach971 i think it might be the hook effect. Your hcg levels are so high, that it oversaturates the test. What you can do is dilute your pee, and then try again

howluckyarewe · 07/05/2026 10:47

@Ncl31 no energy to workout here either. The only thing that stops the nausea are cheese wraps so the weight is wracking up. 🫠 Hoping the second trimester brings my vitality back, and my plan is to start an antenatal PT then all going well.

@Growingaseed fair play to you for still going to classes! You'll be thanking yourself for it postpartum.

Clothes wise the bloat is insane & I look 4 months gone already. Bought two pairs of elasticated waistband pants off Mango for work yesterday, because I feel like it's jinxing it to break the maternity clothes out too early.

Ncl31 · 07/05/2026 10:54

I’m in leggings and jogging bottoms now. My jeans are done for!
I bought a pair of sweaty Betty maternity wide leg trousers which arrived last night. They’re lovely and very comfy. But I won’t take the tags off for a few weeks yet incase I need to send them back if anything happens… hopefully not! All looked well on scan this morning

@Ncl31 glad to hear that the scan went well 😊

Midwife managed to move my scan date, but to my partner's non working day. They won't move it again as it'll be too close to the cut off dates for when they need to do the combined test. So now need to work out childcare so that my partner can be in the room with me... Monday 1st June when I'll be 13+3

hollyhocks2 · 07/05/2026 12:51

So many message to catch up on! Love it. My scan went well too @Ncl31 glad yours did. Was lovely and feels quite surreal to now be 10 weeks and discharged from EPU. What a milestone!

@rach971 surely hook effect - do you still have symptoms? How far along are you?

I already had a belly as it was, but now add in bloat, comfort eating and my body remembering the previous bump! Ah well. I think I’ll just own it that I’m pregnant now. Probably tell more people and crack out the maternity leggings.

At my dating scan I’ll be 13+1. Then I guess no more scans until 20 weeks!! That will be so so strange for me.

Ive been taking it a bit easier and mainly opting for Pilates/yoga type classes. Hoping I can keep it going but will just see how I'm feeling and take it week by week!

rach971 · 07/05/2026 13:54

@hollyhocks2 9+2. My symptoms keep fluctuating but the last couple of days I haven't had much I think that's worried me as well.

Although to be fair when I had my missed miscarriage I did a test around that time and the test line was super strong

I guess I'll just have to wait it out for the scan next week

Ncl31 · 08/05/2026 06:42

@hollyhocks2 ah that’s brilliant so pleased everything went well. I have another scan at 11 weeks at EPU, purely to settled my head about a MMC as I was scanned at 11+4 last time and that’s when we found out. At least they’ll be smite to action acting straight away rather then bring in an antenatal setting and bring referred to EPU. I know the girls there and they’re looking after us so well.
I’ll no doubt see them again before I’m 16 weeks. Then I’ll no doubt get to know the girls on preg assessment. But really hoping once we get to 12 weeks my anxiety will settle and hopefully not too long after then I’ll be able to feel little one.
those of you that have children already was it around 18 weeks you felt them move?

Just got my appointment through for my 12 week scan - which is next week. I'll be 9+6 I think, feels quite early for it. Anyone else have a 12 week so early?

Alwaysgrowing · 08/05/2026 07:01

I am just getting fat too I feel. Resting and sleeping, and eating more than before. Before I got pregnant I was going lower carbs, but one time I ate a lower carb breakfast I felt sick. I've generally not felt very sick. I'm 10 weeks and hopefully will get some energy back soon. I'm hoping to get fit in the 2nd trimester.

I am getting serious baby brain. I'm dyslexic anyway with terrible short term memory but it's got a lot worse, my brain checked out at lunchtime and I've made mistakes at work.

Aprahel87 · 08/05/2026 07:21

@Alwaysgrowing I know how you feel, I keep forgetting the names of things - people, places, words… if my team did not already know they would think I was going loco!

rach971 · 08/05/2026 07:50

@KelpieTheFirst I think if it was me I'd phone them and push it back a couple of weeks as that's quite early

@Alwaysgrowing The baby brain never went away for me unfortunately and it only got worse after my second. I think after my third I've got no hope šŸ˜‚ Probably won't even remember my own name

PhoenixSTL · 08/05/2026 08:07

@KelpieTheFirst that does seem a bit too early. I think the dating scan needs to be between 11 and 14 weeks, if you are having the combined test. My scan is on 13+3 and they won't push it back any further.

@Ncl31 I actually can't remember when I started feeling movement with my son. It was never very much, and not very strong. More like flutters with him. I think it also depends on where your placenta is, on how strong you'll feel the movements.

I'm so happy to have made it to 10 weeks today. Double digits! I told a few friends last night about the pregnancy, as we're going on holiday for a week soon and I figured they'd probably guess. Don't want guesses in front of our son. We're not planning to tell him until after the dating scan.

Alwaysgrowing · 08/05/2026 08:32

The internet says the earliest to feel movement is 16 weeks, first time pregnant is between 18-24 weeks. I do remember I wasn't feeling movement by by 20 week scan. But those first few weeks of movement are so anxious, because you'll feel them for a few days, then not for a few, as they change position. Until they get bigger and you feel them every day, they might settle into a position. I thought I felt a flick last night, just above my public bone, but it was probably a muscle twitch.

bluepurplegreen · 08/05/2026 08:37

Going to the shop feels like exercise at the moment. 2nd trimester energy lift sounds appealing. I’m going to bed at 7.30 some nights.

Recently learnt that the m/c rate is quite high for one twin which has troubled me.

I’ve been getting lots of cramps this week, more painful that usual (have had twinges since day 3). Likely everything growing. I feel a bit bigger now: 9w! Such a long wait until the 12w scan.

wonderlust07 · 08/05/2026 09:18

I remember I hadn't felt anything with my son at the 20 week scan as the sonographer asked as he was moving so much. It was the day after boxing day so I had had chocolate just before the scan šŸ˜‚ I think I felt him a few weeks after that.

Ncl31 · 08/05/2026 09:25

thank you for giving insight. Sounds more like 20 weeks I should expect to feel something.
the weekends seem to go over so fast at the moment which is good as we clock into another week and then a week closer to our 12 week scan.
we’ve already decided we’re going to find it the sex. More because hubby wants to. I wasn’t that bothered but now we’ve talked about it - I want to. An excuse to book a private gender scan at 16 weeks too!
we’re going to ask them to write it down and then we will reveal just the 2 of us. Hubby has said he will book us a nice restaurant and we can have some food and find out :) I think he’s more excited about that bit.

Can the ladies further along, please reassure me that the nausea gets better? Currently 7+3 and even with the medication I’m still feeling pretty rubbish šŸ˜”

SunshineRose12 · 08/05/2026 10:11

@Ncl31 we’re going to find out the gender too, although I’m going to have the blood test done. I think the blood test is 99% accurate whereas the accuracy is lower if done via a scan. You can also find out from 10 weeks via blood test. Just in case helpful!

PhoenixSTL · 08/05/2026 10:12

@Ncl31 that sounds like such a lovely idea 😊

@SunshineRose12 oh, feeling for you. All my pregnancy symptoms seemed to ease off from about 8 weeks this time. Nausea is mostly eased off, dizziness seems to have gone, fatigue is much improved.

Feel like all the appointments are coming through now. Spotted an appointment at 17 weeks in my badger notes, which I'm guessing is my appointments with the consultant as I had an emergency c-section with my son

SunshineRose12 · 08/05/2026 10:14

@PhoenixSTL thank you, that is good to hear. 8 weeks isn’t far away - hopefully 8 weeks will be better for me too ā˜ŗļø

Alwaysgrowing · 08/05/2026 10:36

I never really had nausea or dizziness, but my fatigue is ongoing, I think it did ease at 8 weeks for a few days but then came back, I'm 10 weeks now and would happily be in bed now... I'm holding out for the 12 week mark. I think the end in sight makes things bearable, if this was an illness I would be more upset and frustrated. I also forgot to take my multivitamin yesterday and this morning.

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 08/05/2026 10:57

first time using the badger notes app for me as it’s only recently been introduced in Wales. Any idea how long it takes to see an appointment come through, roughly? I had my booking appointment yesterday and desperate to have a date to focus towards.

I didn’t feel any movement with my son until 22 weeks, and had an anterior placenta.

9 weeks today and the nausea has definitely eased. No energy in the evenings to do anything after putting my son to bed and I’m finding it very hard to concentrate in work. Food wise I’ve been really good this time, getting in lots of protein and fruit. Last time I could only face carbs so I’m wondering if gender is different this time

PhoenixSTL · 08/05/2026 11:15

@Lookingtogrowthefamily my first time with badger notes too. After my booking appointment, suddenly a lot more sections got unlocked. I got my dating scan appointment through the next day, and my consultant appointment came through 3 days later. Still waiting for my blood test results to come through.
