@Ncl31 i work 1 day a week in a nursery and we have had someone due in December come and look round to get a space, I luck out because my boss understands for me to return to work I need a nursery space

Just catching up as I was offline for most of the long weekend - I have Tuesdays as my non working day too so was a lovely long weekend.

I had my booking appointment on Saturday - all good. Same midwife I saw back in Oct before I had my mmc. She actually remembered us which was nice. They couldnt take my blood though so I had to go back yesterday but that was all fine.

@Ncl31 my 12 weeks scan is the 27th too

JH20000 · 06/05/2026 11:14

Going for first private scan on Friday. I’ll be about 7 weeks 5 days. Should a heartbeat be visible by then? So anxious in case there’s not, I think it’ll give me more anxiety.

@wonderlust07 it should be by then. We had a scan at 6+2 and saw a heartbeat. They do like to leave it until around 7 weeks to try and reduce the chances of that anxiety if you can’t see everything

@wonderlust07 im not sure why you’re tagged in that last post…

The appointment for my dating scan came through today... in the middle of my week away. Pretty annoyed, as i gave my holiday dates to the midwife yesterday, so that this didn't happen.

Sent her a text, and she's immediately on it to try and get it rearranged for me.

Thank you! I wanted to have one earlier but knew I’d leave with more anxiety if a heartbeat couldn’t be detected but fingers crossed it’ll all go smoothly on Friday.

I've been given another hospital appointment at 15 weeks (my 4th one) with the fetal medicine unit.

I think as a group we worked out my other 3 were for: booking appt, blood test, 12 week scan.

Do you think this extra one is because I'll be 35 when the baby comes so seemed higher risk?

I am already 35 and have been told I am still low risk.

Could it be a midwife appointment as there is one at 16 weeks.

Aprahel87 · 06/05/2026 14:53

Had my booking appointment today - lovely midwife, very warm and confident so guess I got lucky! They already booked week 18 check but I am still waiting for 12 scan, hope it arrives soon.

Also all of the talk about nurseries inspired me to start doing research for those in my area - apparently you need to start early!

TambourineJean · 06/05/2026 14:57

Just being over 35 doesn’t make you high risk, though I also used to think that because of tv šŸ˜„ I was 37 with my first and not high risk. Though in my case it turned out I should have been but that was just bad luck/genetics

howluckyarewe · 06/05/2026 15:01

@Aprahel87 totally depends on your area but worth putting your name down now! Already signed up this one when I was 5 weeks - I waited until I was in the 2nd trimester with my youngest and he now costs 750 in private childminder fees a month as he doesn't have a spot until he's three. šŸ˜…

Has anyone else gotten sick in the first trimester? Caught a head cold and totally wiped today. Had to call in sick to work and think I'm out for the week. Forgot how much this drains you!

@JH20000 my next scan is Friday at 7+5 too. I saw the heartbeat at exactly 6 weeks so hoping all goes well again.

I'm still so shocked at how hard this pregnancy has been! I've never found pregnancy particularly easy but I was naively optimistic this time. I lost 3 stone since my last, work out regularly, took all the bloody vitamins, I'm only 32 and still it's been my hardest yet. Have barely had the energy for parenting + work, and have done literally nothing outside of those.

PhoenixSTL · 06/05/2026 15:10

@Growingaseed I agree with Wonderlust, I think it's your 16 week midwife appointment. I scheduled mine with the midwife yesterday

@TambourineJean being over 35 gives your a point for the DVT risk score. I thought I was going to score 2 points, but somehow my BMI is just under 30

@howluckyarewe yep, I've had a cold for two weeks now. I wonder if my pregnancy symptoms have actually eased because of the cold symptoms šŸ˜… I can feel the cold is getting better, and now my pregnancy symptoms are flooding back in

Midwife has managed to move my scan appointment, but now it's on my partner's non working day when he'll be looking after our son šŸ˜… so seeing if we can get it moved one more time

TambourineJean · 06/05/2026 15:14

I just realised my intro was a bit lacking compared to everyone else so thought I’d do it properly this time. I’m 10 weeks today, due 2/12/26. 2nd baby, we have a 3 year old. Mostly anxious this time around as I had a severe pregnancy complication (early onset pre eclampsia) in my last pregnancy meaning my LO was born extremely early and was in NICU for a long time and very unwell (doing great now though). Trying to think positively as this time I’m on medication for it and under a consultant whereas last time I wasn’t as I wasn’t high risk to get it. Is anyone else on their first pregnancy after having one with a serious complication?

Kate543 · 06/05/2026 16:30

@TambourineJean welcome! My first pregnancy was complicated with pre eclampsia, reverse flow from the placenta and baby was born at 32 weeks (after a period of bed rest in hospital). My second pregnancy was a breeze and am now pregnant with my third. I was so anxious last time but did find that the consultant and all the midwives were prepared with my history which made it feel less scary (as they were monitoring extra). Baby boy made it to term :)

TambourineJean · 06/05/2026 17:31

Congratulations! And thank you that’s extra reassuring. I don’t know anyone IRL who had similar to me. What you’ve said is exactly how I’m hoping this pregnancy will go, cos like you said more monitoring etc. what date in December are you due? x

Growingaseed · 06/05/2026 17:55

Thanks all for the info on the midwife appointment. Thought I was getting special treatment! Good to know it's another standard one.

OlivejuiceU2 · 06/05/2026 20:12

Anyone else with a noticeable bump already? I’m 9 weeks and feel like I’ve popped already. It’s not even bloating which is crazy, I look the same as I was 18 weeks with my first. Thankfully I wear a lot of oversized clothes so able to hide it at work.

Alwaysgrowing · 06/05/2026 20:45

@OlivejuiceU2 oh yes. Was also the same with my 2nd. It's like as soon as the hormones hit the ligaments holding my tummy in are like, I remember this, release the bump.

my mum said to me today ā€œeeeee you’re getting a bit of a pot belly alreadyā€ I confirmed with her it’s all the beige food I’ve been eating. I’ve put 5kg since finding out as I’m not able to do my usual gym classes and have eaten so much bread and beige!

OP posts:
Growingaseed · 06/05/2026 22:31

I've not got any bump really (just my usual belly!) maybe because it's my first?

What gym classes have you stopped @Ncl31? I've still been doing some but have been lucky in that my nausea has been fairly mild and mainly in the evenings!

rach971 · 07/05/2026 07:10

@OlivejuiceU2 Yeah but it's definitely bloating for me as baby isn't big enough yet. I only discovered it when I realised I couldn't see my 'downstairs' area anymore šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚šŸ˜‚

I have adenomyosis which seems to bloat me anyway but never this much

Lookingtogrowthefamily · 07/05/2026 07:24

@OlivejuiceU2i feel huge already! I know it’s mainly bloat but also everything’s stretched from previous pregnancies. I told my supervisor on Tuesday and she was like I knew, you’ve been eating chips and you’re not in leggings so I guessed šŸ˜‚.

I felt sick all day yesterday, nothing was helping at all. Think it was influenced by emotions too as it would have been my due date for second pregnancy. Got my booking appointment at lunch time and curious how long it’ll take after seeing how long some of yours have been.

wishing the best to those of you with scans today x

Ncl31 · 07/05/2026 07:50

@Growingaseed I usually do body combat 4 times per week. But it’s not recommended during pregnancy.
I’ve also had zero energy to even attempt another class. I’m trying to get out for a purposeful walk each day now if I can.

OP posts:
wonderlust07 · 07/05/2026 08:19

I am sure I didn't have any kind of bump in my first pregnancy until 25 weeks and even then people were like 'oh I thought you just had a bit too much at Christmas'. I am so bloated this time though, I have bought some bigger work trousers to hide it.
I also developed pigmentation in my first pregnancy on my cheeks around 16 weeks but it never disappeared. I think its worse now I'm pregnant again but I am not sure anyone else will put 2 and 2 together.
