@Pennyroseson metaclopramide, cyclazine, promethazine and ondansetron, still have quite a bit of nausea tho 😞

Orangelover · 05/08/2025 11:28

7 weeks here and feeling totally normal this morning. Scan booked for Saturday lunchtime. Can't wait to know if it's going ok or if it's not progressing one way or the other!

@FlossiePot91My booking appointment is in one of the villages but if things go well (I’ve had previous losses so not counting my chickens just yet!) I’ll be at the Countess. Haven’t heard the best reviews but not sure what the alternative is! I had DS in London so havent got prior experience of the local maternity service…

Ahh I’m sorry about your previous losses 🤞🏼 that everything will be fine this time round for you!
Yeah we didn’t have the best experience with DS there tbh but it’s just our local hospital I wouldn’t really want to be travelling for apps etc

Fed up of feeling sick

Midwife tomo
Scan thurs

8 w 2 days atm

Pennyroses · 05/08/2025 11:52

@yayimallama wow that is quite a cocktail! Do you not find much relief with the ondanestron? I've heard that's one of the best? Did your doctor prescribe it? I've tried cyclizine and promethazine, both made no difference. I'm now on xonvea which does take the edge off I'm sure as I missed one recently and was vomiting badly 😫 but I still feel terrible all the time 😞

greglet · 05/08/2025 12:15

@FlossiePot91 ah thank you 🙏🏻 what happened when you had your DS there? Obviously with all the stuff in the media it’s a bit tricky to separate the hysteria from actual facts!

It was overall an OK experience, I think the main issue there was they were all on egg shells after everything in the media so there’s possibly a few things they could have done/ advised differently. (Sorry not trying to scare anyone) up until our birth story though they were on top of everything throughout my pregnancy!

Chester here and I had to call the maternity unit at our hospital, GP didn’t refer (did last time) but booking app is this Friday 9wk1.

I'm Chester too :)

38 degree heat in Rome was challenging today! Wanted to love the city but all too much. At least I got my authentic carbonara I wanted to try.
My partner is being an angel, constantly checking in ok, offering to carry my bag. He’s going to entertain my 8 year old back at the apartment while I have a nap!

Aw that’s lovely 🥰 how supportive of him.

I go away 3 weeks tomorrow so hoping not as much as a heatwave in Spain by then (I normally love the heat) but think it may just make me feel awful at the min 😩

MummyV2021 · 05/08/2025 14:45

@FlossiePot91 and @greglet realised after reading the full thread we're all in Chester!

I had my booking appt on Thurs but they didn't confirm scan date there, they just put in a request for it and then you'll get your appointment date sent through (anywhere between 11-14 weeks).

The good thing about Countess for us is that they're opening the new women and children's building in September this year so that will be good! There are more birthing suites and en-suite facilities that are much better for your overall experience.

I won't go into full details of my birth experience with my DS as it's not great and ended in emergency c-section and don't want to scare anyone, but will say I felt quite dismissed and not listened to a few times. I mentioned this to the midwife on Thursday and said I would not be having another induction due to my previous experience and she did say that a few things have been put in place as they did get quite a lot of feedback about people feeling dismissed and assuming first time mums didn't quite get it, so now have protocols which should make you feel more listened to.

I think a lot of it though comes down to the staff who are there on the day. It was a very mixed bag for me - some were amazing, others not so much. That's why I think it's super important you fully inform yourself and empower yourself with enough information to advocate for yourself. You know your body best. I have the hypnobirthing course I did to thank for the fact I was able to advocate for myself even when I was made to doubt myself.

yayimallama · 05/08/2025 16:04

@Pennyroses Its kinda hard to tell becaue i feel pretty crap most of the time but some days I feel a bit better than other days. My gp said that each of them work differently to stop nausea/vommiting so combining them can help, she took advice from the hospital about what to prescribe. Defo go back to your gp and ask if you can try something else, its just so miserable feeling like this 😢

PickleThePenguin · 05/08/2025 16:52

Still haven't heard from the EPU. I called them earlier to chase but you can only leave a voicemail, I just want to talk to someone! Think I'll phone the doctors tomorrow and see if they can chase for me too. The EPU were so good and quick when I used them last time, so feeling really let down.

Papill19 · 05/08/2025 17:04

@PickleThePenguin that is so bad, you poor thing. What would happen if you just turned up to A&E? I’ve got my early scan in an hour and so so nervous.

PickleThePenguin · 05/08/2025 17:11

@Papill19 I don't feel like my symptoms are bad enough to turn up at A&E, also so tired that I can't bear the thought of spending hours there! But maybe I'll consider that tomorrow, if I don't get anywhere.

Good luck with your scan, hope it goes well ❤️

What a shame 😔
I really hope they phone you back soon.

Thankyou, I have my booking appointment on Saturday so I'll mention it to the midwife then. My GP is absolutely useless, I had to tell them about xonvea - they'd never heard of it!

BigMoo85 · 05/08/2025 19:12

Hi all just found this thread. Had my booking appointment with my community midwife yesterday and she estimated my due date as the 13 march which makes me 8 weeks 4 days at the moment and feeling so sick if I don't constantly eat.

bookworm24 · 05/08/2025 19:26

@worldwidetravel2017booking appointment went well and the midwife was lovely. It’s for about an hour and lots of questions about medical history and family history. She gave me a little bounty pack with freebies and some aspirin as due to my age and As it’s been more than 10 years since my last pregnancy am more at risk of pre-eclampsia. Aspirin is 150mg once a day to start once I hit 12 weeks.
am also booked onto a pelvic health zoom class already and was quite impressed with all
the information given.

Also still feeling nausea and seems worse this week and exhaustion hoping we all feel better by 12 weeks. Also can’t seem to tolerate spicy food as it gives me the runs now and cauliflower the other day had me so bloated yesterday it was horrible. Sorry for TMI.

@PickleThePenguinsorry to hear about the bleeding really hope you get a scan tomorrow.

@Pennyrosesi am on cyclizine and metroclopramide and also take some omeprazole. You could ask for ondansetron.
Could not take xonvea as it made me so sleepy but for me it took the nausea away completely but could not function on it at all.

@mumtroverthave my fingers crossed for you scan next week.

rollup · 05/08/2025 19:58

Papill19 · 04/08/2025 20:23

@rollup yes the same here, my partner keeps saying things like “ooh this time tomorrow” as if it’s not going to be filled with anxiety! Mine is tomorrow too, what time is yours?

Sending you positive vibes from today.

I had my scan today, it was all well which is a huge relief! Got to see the baby looking like a mini alien in 3D which was very cool

Papill19 · 05/08/2025 20:01

My scan went well too! Thank you for the well wishes! Measuring 7+5 which is a couple of days ahead and saw a lovely heart beat 🩷

Ginnygi · 05/08/2025 21:37

Not feeling pregnant today.
I did throw up though, not because of nausea though..Brushing my teeth made me cough which then stimulated my throat too much 🙈

Pennyroses · 05/08/2025 22:26

@Ginnygi every single time I brush my teeth I almost throw up 😫 I can't say I don't feel pregnant as this nausea is relentless but I am stressing about my boobs not having grown much! They don't look like 'pregnant' boobs if you know what I mean?! I feel like they should have changed more by now ( 9 weeks tomorrow)

Bumblebee1984 · 06/08/2025 05:39

@Papill19and @rollupthays great news

@bookworm24how old are you? I’m 40 and wasn’t offered aspirin. Although I was pregnant 3 years ago. Glad booking appointment went well. The best food I could eat last week was spicy food as my taste buds were all weird and needed full flavoured food lol. Ah yes cauliflower can definitely cause bloat.

@BigMoo85welcome.

@PickleThePenguinthats really bad you e not heard from them. Definitely chase today

bookworm24 · 06/08/2025 07:06

@Bumblebee1984i am 42 years old. You need two risk factors to be offered aspirin so you are all good.

@Ginnygi symptoms can come and go my nausea was much better last week but definitely back this week.
