Hi all just found this thread. Had my booking appointment with my community midwife yesterday and she estimated my due date as the 13 march which makes me 8 weeks 4 days at the moment and feeling so sick if I don't constantly eat.

I hear u on the feeling so sick

@Ginnygi every single time I brush my teeth I almost throw up 😫 I can't say I don't feel pregnant as this nausea is relentless but I am stressing about my boobs not having grown much! They don't look like 'pregnant' boobs if you know what I mean?! I feel like they should have changed more by now ( 9 weeks tomorrow)

I'm 9+3 today and can't say my boobs have changed yet. Don't remember them really changing till I was breastfeeding to be honest but will ask DP when he's back home tonight haha.
Nausea though, omg, teeth brushing is ok for me but showers are hard for some reason. Maybe all the movement in steam or something. Usually I love a good shower.

Chased the doctors this morning at 8. And thankfully my doctor was on it. He contacted the EPU again who have called me already and I'm going in for a scan in a couple of hours. She apologised and said my referral must have slipped through the gaps. Which is very annoying but at least I'm in the system now.

greglet · 06/08/2025 08:45

@MummyV2021 Hello to a fellow Cestrian! That’s interesting to hear about the new maternity unit at the Countess, thank you. I was induced with DS after my waters broke but Labour failed to progress, which ended in an EMCS, but I have to say the whole experience really wasn’t that bad (this was in London). If things go well, I’ll probably ask for an ELCS this time, as I absolutely refuse to be induced again. I know what you mean about it coming down to individual staff; we had one senior midwife who was AMAZING (possibly pethidine-influenced but I genuinely loved her), then she went off shift and the replacement was so mum less warm and reassuring. Oh well, will see how it goes!

ohthegrandolddukeofyork · 06/08/2025 08:46

Glad to hear you’ve got a scan booked today with them @PickleThePenguinbut rubbish you had to chase! Fingers crossed for you xx

Mushroo · 06/08/2025 09:22

Sorry I’ve been a bit quiet! I basically have nothing to report at all.

I feel completely fine, no symptoms whatsoever other than being a bit emotional (but likely just due to dealing with toddler tantrums).

I’ve booked my NIPT for the end of August, can’t wait to find out the sex. Ideally I’d like another girl just because my LO would like a sister, but a boy would be a nice balance!

Oh that is so annoying, but I wish you all the luck!! Good on your GP.

MummyV2021 · 06/08/2025 09:41

@gregletglad to hear you had a generally positive experience despite what happened. For me the EMCS was actually the ok bit, it was everything leading up to it so I would def not have an induction again. And am convinced if I’d stayed at home and relaxed, things would have progressed naturally but had the fear drummed in me about going over 42 weeks (he was literally born at 42 weeks on the dot!). So I’ve said I want to try for VBAC but will be looking to schedule an ELCS if I go over - probably at 41 weeks max so it’s at least a couple of days before my 40th birthday!

That's funny - I've a boy and for him I think a brother would be nicer, but if I'm selfish for a moment I'd like a girl for me to experience parenting both. Though having said that I'd be very happy either way!

We've settled on a boy name already. But I'm finding it hard to settle on a girl's name. None seem to be quite "the one" including the one we had picked out for DS had he been a girl. Or if I love it, I can't use it for various reasons. Seems too early to worry, but the boy name was just so easy.

Ginnygi · 06/08/2025 09:46

@PickleThePenguin sending you good vibes this morning for your scan ❤️

TheFutureIs · 06/08/2025 09:46

We’re the opposite, a few girls names we both love but not a single boy one

greglet · 06/08/2025 09:53

@MummyV2021 It sounds like we had a fairly similar experience! I also wish I’d stayed at home and relaxed for longer before going in, as I ended up in a brightly lit cubicle on a trolley for hours once I was admitted 😬 Not much oxytocin happening there 😂

I think I’l do the same in terms of scheduling a c section - I’d like to get to term if possible, rather than having the baby whipped out early if it’s not necessary. Will you get to speak to a consultant about it, do you think, or do the midwives handle those conversations?

Fallulah · 06/08/2025 09:56

@PickleThePenguin fingers crossed and well done for being persistent!

I cannot sleep! My brain is constantly going over things like how much baby stuff costs, what kind of leave I want to take, whether baby will have special needs that aren’t picked up on the tests, where/how I want to have the baby, what everyone is going to say about me being pregnant at 44, letting work down etc etc. I keep telling myself off for being so anxious as I’ve literally been peeing on hormone sticks and scheduling sex for four or five years to get to this point and now I’m here, I’m terrified! I feel like an idiot because this is what I wanted! I was still awake at 1am last night and then had to go in the other room because just the sound of my OH breathing was annoying me! 🙄

mumtrovert · 06/08/2025 09:59

I’m on the loony brigade again. I’m 8+4 today. My last CB digi was at 6+5 which was 2-3. Probably not surprising considering at 7+2 bean was measuring 5+6.

Welllll I’ve had some low level queasiness the past 4 days so curiosity got the better of me. I finally got my 3+ 😂😂

Have to make light of the situ 😅😂

@PickleThePenguinthats good you’ve got your appointment.

we are struggling a bit for names. Think we might have a girl name but no idea for boy. We struggled either DS too.

@Mushroo really tempted to book in a nipt or an at home test to find out gender sooner. Could do it now if we wanted.

@gregletim opting for an elective section this time. I mentioned it at my booking appointment and midwife said she’ll schedule a meeting with the consultant after the 20 week scan

Mushroo · 06/08/2025 10:25

@PickleThePenguin good luck!!

@MummyV2021 @greglet sounds similar to me. I had an induction due to reduced growth, but I’m fairly sure I was already in early labour when I went in (2cms on arrival) but the induction just didn’t make anything happen! Ended up in EMCS mainly because I was so bloody exhausted and still at 2cms 3 days later… this time no induction, hoping for vbac but will have a c section if needed.

@LevelOneAgain we have no names. I feel like we used the one we agreed on with our first!

Pennyroses · 06/08/2025 10:33

@LevelOneAgain thanks that's a bit reassuring! I'm just very anxious because I had a loss at 19 weeks nearly 2 years ago so I think I'm just on edge about every symptom! The nausea and sickness is absolutely awful though so as much as I can't cope with it I'm glad it's there!

Another hoping for VBAC here 🤞🏼
I was advised section as DS was the wrong way round but at 38 weeks was offered nothing to support his lungs so sadly he was born very poorly and we ended up in Liverpool. All ok now but I really can’t go through that again 😭

Mummysparrow · 06/08/2025 11:13

I had hoped for a VBAC but unfortunately it seems my TFMR is my VBAC and the surgery I had to fix my c section scar in January is treated like a second c section and therefore it is less safe for me to go for a VBAC and my surgeon advised that a pregnancy would need a c section. Not keen on a surgery as they scare me however I would prefer a scheduled c section over an emergency one

Hopeloveandkindness · 06/08/2025 11:20

Does anyone have like a stretching feeling if they stand up quickly or get out of bed sort of feels like you have pulled a muscle weird to explain not in pain or anything but had it a lot past few days - 9 weeks on Sunday and have my midwife app on Friday they called and sorted it today ☺️🙏🏻

TheFutureIs · 06/08/2025 11:24

Probably your round ligaments that support your pelvic floor, and yes, even rolling over in bed gets mine

Pennyroses · 06/08/2025 11:57

@Mummysparrow sorry to hear about your TFMR 😞 can I ask how many weeks you were? I've had 2 c sections (live births) and I lost my baby at 19 weeks in 2023 and she was born naturally. I have wondered if they would class this as a VBAC or not as she was so tiny so didn't know if it would count? It was still a full normal labour though! I'm hoping to try naturally again this time 🤞🏼

Mummysparrow · 06/08/2025 12:00

@Pennyrosesit was at 15 weeks though he was sthe size of a 14 weeker as he had a chromosome abnormality. I am not sure if medically it counts as a VBAC or not but in my head it does as the pain was definitely labour, there was just no pushing as he fell out of me 🤣
