Has anyone done or planning to do any kind of cute pregnancy announcement?

Assuming all well in the next couple of weeks, I’m tempted to get my LO a ‘big sister’ T shirt and let her give the scan pic to my mum.

BUT it feels a bit extra and I don’t know whether to just tell her 🤷‍♀️

That’s sounds lovely defo not extra and sounds a good way to involve your daughter in the announcement 😊

I have already told my parents as my mum was supporting me through ivf so knew I was having my transfer or I would have done something really cute 🥰

@worldwidetravel2017 I've been terrible with Chinese and McDonald's this pregnancy! I've just ordered McDonald's again as it's literally all I felt like. I'm still feeling so sick most the time 🤢 I'm worried I'm going to balloon at this rate and it's not very healthy for the baby 😭 oh and the only drink I can manage today is milk!!

@worldwidetravel2017 I'm 11 weeks tomorrow! I'm managing to have an apple everyday but other than that I just want carbs! 😩 Can't wait to get past this sickness and eat 'normal' food again!

Im 10 & half weeks

Pennyroses · 19/08/2025 18:59

@worldwidetravel2017 how you feeling? Have you had any scans yet? I've had 3 already! Reassurance ones due to previous loss. My 12 week scan (although I'll be nearly 13) is booked for the 1st September!

We put our boy in a t-shirt, it took both sets of GPs about 40 minutes to notice 😂

😂😂 I do like the t shirt idea! I’m very tempted to order one once the scan is out the way!

Hello, I’ve got a bit of a worry that I didn’t know if anyone had any experience with. I went to Spain a couple of weeks ago and had a lovely time. However, after just speaking to a pregnant friend who was in Italy last week she mentioned how hard she found eating, staying away from mozarella, burrata etc incase it wasn’t pasteurised. I’m now concerned because this foolishly did not cross my mind. I stayed away from the classics - blue cheese, brie etc but I did eat mozarella in salads and burrata on a pizza without questioning it! They were in large, tourist centred areas so I just assumed safe. My finance had listeria years ago and told me I would know if I had it, but from what I’ve read you can have it without any symptoms. Any experience or thoughts I’d be grateful of, thank you!

I thought mozzarella is generally safe if pasteurised, also if cooked on a pizza lasagna etc safe as the heat will kill any bacteria

Papill19 · 20/08/2025 08:46

@Hopeloveandkindness it is, I am just concerned that I didn’t specifically check if it was pasteurised, I just assumed it was!

TheFutureIs · 20/08/2025 10:02

No point worrying about something you can’t change. I’m sure it will be fine, I definitely had some things I shouldn’t have on holiday, same as you didn’t think at the time

ThisZippyViewer · 20/08/2025 14:23

The risk of listeria is super low and you’re more likely to have symptoms than not so take reassurance from your fiancé ☺️

Lots of pregnant women who live in Mediterranean countries eat unpasteurised cheese and cured meats every day with no issues at all - try not to worry!

CountingDownToAutumn · 20/08/2025 14:55

Is it normal to be 9+2 and not have a booking appointment arranged yet? Or to have heard from your midwife? With my previous pregnancies the booking appointment was around 8 weeks. Well except for the last one but that was down to me filling in the form late.

With my surgery it’s a qr code that takes you to a form and you’re supposed to get a response in two weeks. It will have been 3 tomorrow and I’m just getting a wild goose chase! The number for the surgery midwife keeps cutting to unavailable. Calling the local hub resulted in them saying that will get back to me. This does not fill me with hope!

Papill19 · 20/08/2025 15:08

@ThisZippyViewer thank you so much for your response, that is reassuring and I’ve decided to put it to bed now and not give it anymore thought. Thank you!

Papill19 · 20/08/2025 15:10

@CountingDownToAutumn i had the same as this and because I live in between two local hospitals I ended up registering with the other one and heard from them the next day. The initial blood tests need to be done before 10 weeks, so if this is an option I would try it? Or try your GP and see if they can chase?

Mushroo · 20/08/2025 16:15

@CountingDownToAutumn that sounds really stressful! Definitely keep chasing, you don’t want to fall between the cracks (I had my booking appointment at 8 weeks).

Is anyone else starving?! I don’t normally snack that much but I am ravenous. Going to be gaining a lot of weight…

I also keep craving really random things, today is a pork pie?!

PickleThePenguin · 20/08/2025 16:43

@CountingDownToAutumn I'm 8 + 5 and am getting nervous about not hearing anything.

I've just moved and I'm right on the boarder of two counties but my GP is registered in the county I don't live in, so I'm worried it's because I applied to the wrong county (although went to the EPU in the other county so who's knows).

With my pregnancy in Feb I received the scan letter at 8 weeks but never heard about my booking in appointment as I then had a MMC. So worrying that I haven't received the scan date either.

Me starving 24/7 even when I’ve just ate a meal then I feel sick if I feel hungry so that’s my excuse 🫣 i defo know im gaining weight as everything is soooo much tighter 🤣

Fallulah · 20/08/2025 20:13

👋 Sorry I disappeared - was trying to occupy my brain while I waited the two weeks since my private scan which only showed sacks and no embryo.

I had the booking in appointment today. I told her straight away about the scan and she phoned the EPAU to ask their advice and book me in there for Friday morning. I said should we wait until I’ve had that before booking in but she was excited by my sore boobs and raging heartburn and said she was going to do it. I wasn’t expecting to be there an hour and a half!

So I’m still waiting but I no longer feel that all is lost - I’m much more 50/50 now. 🤞

Casper94 · 20/08/2025 21:37

@Papill19 please try not to panic, although I know it's easier said than done! The risk of Listeria is ridiculously low even if it wasn't pasteurized, and like others have said the pizza is definitely not a worry because the cooking process would've killed it.

If it helps, I had mozzarella from an authentic Italian a few weeks ago, checked with my midwife and she told me the same thing. How long until your next scan?

@Fallulah great to hear midwife was supportive and glad your scan is tomorrow so you can get answers!

Ergh, 10+2 and sickness has come back tonight, although I ate some "rubbery" feeling chicken earlier at a restaurant and now I'm of course panicking it's the beginnings of food poisoning - also working a night shift as well 😅

PickleThePenguin · 21/08/2025 11:00

Finally heard from my midwife and booking in appointment is ages away. Having it when I'm 11 + 4. I queried it being so late but she said not to worry about it and the blood tests would be fine!!

peanutForever · 21/08/2025 11:12

Hey all had my lasy epu scan today and measured 11+1 so again baby has skipped a few days ahead
