Was this for arranging your booking appointment?

I expect so. I'm 9 weeks today so it's getting a bit late now. I'm also on leave all next week so would have been very convenient to have it sorted for then!

I hope they get back to you quickly so it can still be arranged for then.

My booked appt is next week and im 9 weeks today by the scan results. We just found out the gender of our baby but my oh my am i scared i somehow contaminated it 😂 cant wait for 20weeks for it all to be confirmed

Casper94 · 07/08/2025 20:17

Lemonade seems to be helping with the sickness if anyone hasn't tried that yet!

Ditto to what others have said, when they're newborn they really don't need a lot. The main things I told my friend recently who's FTM the things maybe you'd not think about are: bath thermometer, nasal aspirator, donut pillow for you to sit on after birth.

Also with my DD I spent my whole pregnancy going round collecting nappies from people from those free to collect sites and I ended up not having to buy any nappies for a whole year! So I've started doing that again already this time, already got 6 packs of size 1s ready to go 😁

Ladies does anyone know if you can take anti histamines in pregnancy? I was bitten on my hand last night in the garden whilst watering my plants and it's itching terribly and is swelling! Usually I'd take an antihistamine but obviously don't want to without direction/advice. The redness has definitely travelled across my hand throughout the day and it's driving me mad now!

WishingUponARainbow · 07/08/2025 20:53

Hi ladies, sorry I’ve been quiet lately. Got some family visiting from Australia so been having some lovely family time ☺️
Currently 8+3. Had my final scan with the EPU today and pleased to say baby actually looks like a baby instead of a blob now and measuring a day ahead 🤍 all the nausea feels more worth it after every scan seeing the heartbeat!
Hope everyone is feeling as well as they can and so pleased for everyone with happy news after such worry!

Hello. Yes you can but the cetirizine types that are in high street shops.

i was on a strong antihistamine fenofexadine and had to stop as told by the GP and Dr Google as it’s not known how it can affect babies. They stated the ones in the shops you can buy are generally ok though

boredinmy30s · 07/08/2025 21:04

I introduced myself earlier in thread but posting again. I’m 7 weeks pregnant due towards the end of March. This is my First pregnancy.

have been feeling generally okay except today really struggling with my temperature, what to eat, felt so sick because I hadn’t eaten and generally just rough. Anyone able to give any inspiration / snacks they’re able to tolerate. I’m going quickly off bananas and their smell!

I can’t decide whether to do a private scan or wait for 12 weeks one which isn’t until September. I just want to see them and know they’re ok if that makes sense.

any advice appreciated (probably should change my username also no longer bored 🤣)

WishingUponARainbow · 07/08/2025 21:14

@boredinmy30s Hi!
My nausea has been fairly mild but gets worse if I’m too hungry. I’m really enjoying the individual cubes of cheese Cathedral City do, and digestives and ginger nuts are always in my bag for an emergency.
Mini Cheddars have been helping too. So it would seem biscuits/cheese/a combo of both help me 🤔😂
Also reaaaaally enjoying icy water as I’ve got completely off coffee.

Fallulah · 07/08/2025 21:28

@Orangelover I was told you can’t have piriton but other over the counter ones are generally ok.

Bumblebee1984 · 07/08/2025 21:43

@boredinmy30swhen I felt awful last week and didn’t know what I wanted to eat I ended up eating quite a bit of cereal as nothing else appealed or tasted right lol

For buying things definitely recommend Vinted and Facebook marketplace. A feeding pillow was a great buy for me if you’re planning to breastfeed. Other good things were
sling/baby carrier
next to me cot ( we got ours barely used on marketplace and got new matrees)
baby bouncer (also got from marketplace) we have the baby bjorn one
nappy caddy for downstairs to change easily
zipped sleep suits (game changer and so much matter than the ones with poppers
star blanket which is great for car journeys in colder months
I wouldn’t get too many clothes as you will no doubt be given lots and can easily buy if needed. Especially newborn as if a big baby won’t be in them for long and sleep suits are the easiest thing when a newborn

Is anyone else pregnant post c section? My scar is SO itchy! I’m assuming it’s stretching a bit but it’s driving me mad!

The things on my list I need are:
new next to me crib
a Moses basket. We didn’t bother last time but I think I’ll want somewhere to just pop baby down with a toddler.
A new lightweight carrier

Debating if we need a double pram. I was hoping not but my first still hates walking so it might be wishful thinking on my part…

Buggy boards are really handy

Bumblebee1984 · 08/08/2025 11:23

I’ll be getting a buggy board. My DS is a pretty good walker

Pennyroses · 08/08/2025 11:33

@Mushroo yes my c section scar itches sometimes too. But then it always has on and off afterwards, I think hormones can affect it. My scar is 15 years old aswell!!!

Mushroo · 08/08/2025 11:34

@Pennyroses glad I’m not alone!

@TheFutureIs @Bumblebee1984 yes I’m definitely going to look at buggy boards! Hoping that will be the answer…

Is anyone else feeling absolutely floored? Strangely, I manage at work even though I'm feeling super exhausted. Absolutely shattered at home though and feel like sleeping 24/7.

Me too. I feel worse in the evenings and work evenings due to being busy and my other kids

Similar list!

New next to me
Moses basket for exactly the same reason

Might get a buggy board, we'll see. DS is a good walker and 3.5 year age difference but it may be handy to have.

Zip up sleep suits, think someone mentioned already, but they are the absolute winners rather than fussing with bloody poppers in the depth of night and usually without my specs on.

Star fleece blanket / wrap thing was also great and will be useful if it's a colder spring.

Yes! Me. Symptoms massively ramp up in the evenings. Unfortunately I'm another with night work. It's thankfully outside which does help, but oh I'm not looking forward to the next few weeks!! I stop outside work at the end of September though so am looking forward to autumn!!

Mushroo · 08/08/2025 13:43

Yes! Echoing others on the fleece starsuit and zip up onesies. The ones from next that had a zip at the top and bottom were my favourites.

Along with nappy changing stations in about 3 rooms!

LevelOneAgain · 08/08/2025 13:47

I'd forgotten about all the changing stations! Oh, and muslins everywhere, for everything! Mopping up spit, while burping and buffering between me and them in case of the next unexpected spit up, even wrapping baby in a clean one or playing with / draping over a play gym.

Ok adding a play gym and bouncer to my list too. Forgot about those!

Apricotjam23 · 08/08/2025 13:49

Hi everyone! Thought it was very quiet on the old thread then realised we’d moved here.
just checking in to say hi 😀

Ginnygi · 08/08/2025 14:07

My midwife appointment is next week, not sure if they'll give me scan date there and then or if I would receive a letter after the appt.
Once I know the scan date, I'll decide wether to book another private scan or not. Just absolutely terrified of turning up for 12 week one and hearing it all stopped weeks ago.
