@PickleThePenguin have you had your scan yet? ❤️

@Mummysparrow so sorry to hear about your experience 😔 were the issues picked up at the 12 week scan? ❤️

Mummysparrow · 06/08/2025 12:18

@Ginnygiyeah they were. The first 12 weeks they put me back at 10+6 and not 12 weeks and I knew then something was wrong as I knew my dates were right and their dates would have meant I got a positive test at 3dpo which isn't possible. So I had to go back 2 weeks later which showed an enlarged NT measurement and the possibility of his stomach being next to his heart. A scan 2 days lastervwith FMU confirmed he had congenital diaphragmatic hernia and his heart was struggling. His odds weren't good so we decided to terminate. We had a post mortem which showed he had T16 which is a fatal abnormality and confirmed he wouldn't have survived. So I am bricking it over the thought of my 12 week scan tbh

Ginnygi · 06/08/2025 12:26

@Mummysparrow I'm so sorry to hear that ❤️
I'm hoping and believing that you'll have a very different experience this time.
Have you got a date for the 12 week scan yet? I know some people got them and some haven't but can't remember everyone's dates, sorry.

Mummysparrow · 06/08/2025 12:28

@Ginnygii haven't had my letter through yet but I can see an appointment for the scan on the badger notes app for 10yh September so another 4 weeks to wait and keep fingers crossed 🤞

A long time yet but so good you have a date to look forward to.
Got any plans for making the time go faster?
I've bought books but just can't read them... On top of that, had to urgently use up my accumulated A/L so will be having quite a few days off here and there.

Ginnygi · 06/08/2025 12:31

Actually, I was planning to sell some things on vinted or maybe take them charity. Just to make a bit more space.
Rearrange furniture (that's not a job for me obviously!), go through stuff in the loft.

One of my friends for married not too long ago and is trying. Wonder how it's going to go. Selfishly, worried that we might end up with the same/similar due dates and she'll have a baby and I won't. Been there where someone has the same due date and they end up with a baby and you don't, had it more than once. So I think it explains this irrational thinking.

Pennyroses · 06/08/2025 12:31

@Mummysparrow oh bless you, it's an awful experience isn't it 😞 I did go through a full 3 hours of labour, contractions and everything and needed gas and air so I really hope they do count it!! I'm just thinking of the future in case we wanted one more (although I think I'll be done after this, the sickness is killing me off 🤢💀) I'd rather not have to have multiple c sections if I can avoid it 🤞🏼

PickleThePenguin · 06/08/2025 12:37

Thanks everyone for your well wishes.

I can't quite believe I'm writing this but little pickle looks ok and has heartbeat! Measuring 6 weeks so a few days behind what I calculated, but she said she couldn't see anything to worry about with the baby. I have a subchoironic haematoma which is causing the bleed. But didn't give me much info about it. Has anyone else had this?

I am being prescribed progesterone, due to the bleeding and previous miscarriage, so just waiting at the pharmacy for my prescription.

Mummysparrow · 06/08/2025 12:39

@Pennyrosesi was quite lucky as my pain was quite minimal for a few hours after the first pessary and only started hurting when the waters went. Then I am hour of horrific pain. Contractions only had a minute between one ending and a other starting. They were going to get me oramporph but baby came out before they came back with it. I am glad I did it rather than surgery as I got to meet baby and have some photos. He was tiny but well formed.
@Ginnyginot loads of plans but I am going away for the bake holiday weekend to Somerset which will be a nice break away. I may buy some books. I do love a good book

Ginnygi · 06/08/2025 12:54

This is amazing news ☺️ I think @worldwidetravel2017 had this also

@Mummysparrow bless you, I'm glad I got to meet my baby too. As awfully sad as it was, I just pray I never have to go through that again 🙏🏼 my heart couldn't take it 💔 I hope both our pregnancies go smoothly this time and we get our healthy rainbow babies at the end 🌈❤️

@PickleThePenguinthats good you’ve got your appointment.

we are struggling a bit for names. Think we might have a girl name but no idea for boy. We struggled either DS too.

@Mushroo really tempted to book in a nipt or an at home test to find out gender sooner. Could do it now if we wanted.

@gregletim opting for an elective section this time. I mentioned it at my booking appointment and midwife said she’ll schedule a meeting with the consultant after the 20 week scan

I didn’t realise you could do at home gender tests. Do you have anymore info on that please

bluecandlee · 06/08/2025 15:11

Can I join? Due on the 16th with our 2nd! We had our early scan on Saturday and everything is going well. I’m really excited as I’ve always wanted a spring baby!

Have a look at sneak peek.
You take a sample of your blood and send it for analysis, it gets screen for an Y chromosome. If it comes back as a girl, it's usually accurate, if it comes back a s a boy, the sample could be contaminated by any male (even a pet!) living at your home. So if you go for it, make sure not to get the sample contaminated.
I think it's £90 something or £80 something pounds.
Some scanning clinics do them, it's usually over £100 but they're the ones that take the bloods for you.

Ginnygi · 06/08/2025 16:15

Too much of Mumsnet for me today 🙈

Just came across two threads... Someone looking for sympathy because she didn't conceive for THREE cycles in a row and how can this be possible when it happened straight away with the first child and everyone she knows conceives on the first cycle; someone who tried for the whole of TWO months and got negatives each time and how hard it is.

I honestly have no sympathy for people like that.

And yes, I know I'm being snarky but FFS.

Mummysparrow · 06/08/2025 16:25

@Ginnygii totally get you, its hard when it takes you a long time to conceive. I miss the Naivety I used to havr. How long did it take you to conceive?I conceived my daughter 2nd month and the baby I lost last year in 3 months, however this time took over a year. After 6 months I started to think what the hell was happening but I generally kept it to myself before joining secondary infertility groups after 9 months (as I am 36) but even then I felt like I shouldn't be there as it comes people years to conceive.

Ohwelldone · 06/08/2025 16:38

Has anyone else had a really bad head lately? .. Mine has been awful for about a week but is coming and going in waves, like I might suddenly be fine for 15 minutes and then it'll be back again. I'm nearly 11 weeks now, so I'm hoping by 12 weeks that and the nausea start to fade! 😅

peanutForever · 06/08/2025 17:03

@PickleThePenguingreat news i have the same, and they put me on progesterone too and explained they will keep an eye on it but it usually resolves itself!

Fallulah · 06/08/2025 17:21

@Ginnygi Yes, trying since April 2021 here and this is the first ever time we’ve got it right. I must have spent hundreds on sticks to pee on on our Mira monitor! My strongest tongue biting was reserved for the person in my life who hated being pregnant, did nothing but moan about how hard being a parent is, and then instantly conceived a second as soon as they started trying!

@PickleThePenguin Yes!! So pleased for you.

I am proper grumpy today! I think it’s just lack of sleep but it’s almost funny the level of irritation I’m experiencing. OH is medicating it with tea, cake and fish and chips (last day of our break by the sea today). We went for a long walk earlier and I have told him not to let me nap so that I sleep tonight. 🤞

PickleThePenguin · 06/08/2025 17:22

@peanutForever Thank you! Did they give you any guidance on avoid certain activities? I'm kind of scared to lift anything heavy (we've just moved house so there's a lot of sorting to do) but don't know if I'm being OTT. How are you finding the progesterone?

peanutForever · 06/08/2025 17:29

@PickleThePenguinnot really but they are seeing me every 2 weeks and i have a scan tomorrow, hoping bub is okay!

i dont know if its rhe prog but i feel like it made my symptoms worse or this is just a harder pregnancy than DS. They told me to take it vaginally and I find it very icky, always wearing a panty liner but never really feel clean and the smell is off-pputting. Its annoying as sometimes when DH and i have tried to be intimate i have to say know as i know its still absorbing and quite frankly im scared that he is gna absorb it!

@mummymanici have just done a sneakpeak and waiting for our results it was £59. I tried to follow the test as best as i could (they make u scrub under your nails and stuff!) but i have DH and DS at home so hope there was zero contamination! Otherwise it says its 99% accurate. They had an introductory £30 off offer when we bought it but im sure the £20 one is always available if u sign up x

Casper94 · 06/08/2025 19:45

Congrats on the 3+ @mumtrovert and good news on the scan @PickleThePenguin !

I'm feeling so sick today I can barely stand up. I've some how made it into work for my night shift and I've been hunched over the toilet the past 20 mins already 😅really wish I'd called in sick now
