Anyone else here struggling with low mood? I had a pretty tough 1st trimester with constant nausea and sickness, which has been a bit better for the last couple of weeks. I thought it was the symptoms getting me down but I'm 17 weeks now and they've eased a bit and I'm still feeling rough. I mostly just feel like a I have no energy at all, I just want to sleep all the time. I have a 2 year old so feeling a lot of guilt about not being as engaging or energetic as usual. We're also in a big limbo with moving house, currently not living in an ideal setup, which has been upsetting me. Anyone else struggling with anything similar? I'm not sure when to be concerned about antenatal depression.

I wouldn't say I have low moods consistently but I do get down from feeling so tired and unable to do my normal thing (usually very active) and just so emotional about anything. I also have a two year old and work long hours so not seeing her as much and have less energy to give to her at the moment but we are doing our best try not to feel guilty and take it easy on yourself.

@Tofu35 I haven’t signed up to anything yet but am thinking about yoga which I haven’t done in previous pregnancies. Have you? I’d like something a bit like NCT but for if it’s not your first…
I have a 7 and a 4 year old and we told them not long after 12 weeks. They’re SO excited and tell everyone they can haha but are annoyed they have to wait until ‘after Christmas then a bit longer’.
I am planning to take them to a private scan after the NHS 20 weeks one but only because they’re that bit older, we didn’t last time (when my eldest was 2) as don’t think she’d have understood it the same.

Tofu35 · 04/09/2025 21:47

@Hbw18 there's a local yoga studio to me that does some pregnancy yoga sessions so I might try and sign up to that. I moved to a different town from where I had my first one, so I feel I should go to a birthing group just to meet some mum pals. And probably try not to overshare in the group about what birth was like, don't think people really want to know that stuff- haha!

Aww that's so sweet they're so excited, having them see the scan will be magic :D

Tofu35 · 04/09/2025 21:48

I did nct with my first, and our group didn't gel and the only one I kept in touch with is a mum that was also in a free baby massage class with me so I feel I would have met her regardless!

youngspinach · 05/09/2025 21:45

Sorry to hear you’re feeling rough @SpeedyBulletTrain. It sounds like you have a lot on your plate. I’ve had moments of feeling really weepy and I am definitely struggling with motivation but I wouldn’t say it was an ongoing low mood. Hope you have people you can reach out to for support if you need it.

@Tofu35 we’ve just signed up for some hypnobirthing classes in November with a local midwife who runs them, I’m looking forward to that as I’ve suddenly started panicking about birth and the fact that I have no idea how it works or what to expect, so hopefully she’ll help me (and my partner) feel more informed and in control.

Other than that just counting down the days until my 20 week scan! Not feeling any movements yet so just hoping they’re still doing OK in there and looking forward to seeing them again and finding out the gender.

Hope everyone has had a good week.

Has anybody felt or seen any kicks yet? Baby officially kicked today which I could see from the outside. I'm 19+5

GingerFox2021 · 14/09/2025 17:43

I’m 18+1. Feeling kicks since 16,5 weeks. Yesterday I gave my little one to feel my bump and she was excited to feel them, too!

That's awesome. I've felt her move around from very early on, like a hard bulge, but never a kick that could be seen from the outside. How exciting!

naturesponge · 15/09/2025 13:56

I'm 18+6 and a FTM so no idea what kicks would feel like, but I don't think I've felt anything... something seems to go on post eating but very likely just my digestive system 😂

Wednesdayonline · 15/09/2025 19:43

Mine started week 18! Not very obvious though. I had to lay on the floor and stretch and I could feel him moving like a rolling feeling. Now I'm feeling obvious pokes. Today has been a very active day!

Hi,
i have had days this week and last where i’m very weepy and quick to fly off the handle. I’d actyally been pretty calm and less up and down since being pregnant but it feels like it’s shifted, potentially a hormonal thing?
we were also stressed about moving but not we’ve moved that feels a lot better. Try not to feel guilty - look after yourself and find ways to treat yourself or to take time to relax and enjoy the good things :) easier said than done- also im
all about wallowing in a duvet for a few hours when needed. If you need sleep then get as much as you can and don’t feel bad for it x

OneLoftyLemonDreamer · 16/09/2025 01:43

Quick question to hopefully reassure me!! Went to bed with a hot water bottle on my back and i fell asleep by accident. I woke up and the hot water bottle it was more on my tummy than back and I’m majorly panicking that I’ve done harm!!! I don’t know how long it would have been there altogether as I’ve slept about 3 - 4 hours
Because I haven’t felt baby move a lot yet during pregnancy, I’m unable to use this as a guide and not sure whether I should be worried…

youngspinach · 16/09/2025 10:51

It will be totally fine @OneLoftyLemonDreamer - as far as I know the risk with heat is substantially increasing your core body temperature for a long time - like sitting in a sauna. A hot water bottle won't have done any damage, especially after you'd been asleep for a while it would have cooled down a bit already! Don't stress, baby is nice and well cushioned in there. Can totally relate to the random panics though - I have had so many! Hope you're feeling OK.

I'm 18+3 and I have been feeling little movements for a few days I think @Eeebee14 it's very subtle but I'm pretty sure that's what it is. I wasn't expecting to feel anything for a while as I saw on my 12 week scan notes I have an anterior placenta (it's on the front wall instead of the back) which apparently means they can be harder to feel, so it's been really nice and reassuring to feel little pops now and then.

Tofu35 · 17/09/2025 12:59

@kiki2516 yes! This cold is kicking my bum, not helped by the fact I keep googling what is safe to take while pregnant (paracetamol).

Have my scan on Friday, let's find out if my guess (a boy) is accurate or whether its a girl! It's weird, with my first I was determined it was a girl and I was a wee bit disappointed when we found out it was my son. But he's such a cuddly sweet wee guy, I just want the same again! 🥰

Hi all, had my 20 week scan yesterday, everything looks like it's going well. They confirmed I have a posterior placenta, which would explain feeling movement and kicks so early.

They cornered me for the whooping cough vaccine, so I have a sore arm. Work up with a bit of neck pain on my left and a headache, not usual for me if I've slept funny tbh, and yesterday was a heavy day, maybe I over did it.

Got my flu jab tomorrow, I am so not looking forward to having two sore arms. Ahhhh! Haha

Abbie04 · 17/09/2025 18:16

Hi everyone, hope we are all getting on fine

I had my 20week scan today, everything looks fine and I have a posterior placenta too @Eeebee14 so began feeling movements since 12weeks (thought I was imagining it lol)

Found out we are having a baby girl 🌟 we have a 3 year old boy so it feels great just grateful for a healthy baby after a miscarriage in Feb

kiki2516 · 17/09/2025 18:53

@Tofu35 same! The midwife told me paracetamol but no ibuprofen, and us pregnant women will take longer to shift it😩

ahhh keep us updated on your scan! My boy is super loving and cuddly with me but my daughter is more like ‘you can have one when I say you can’😂
Hoping this little boy will be cuddly too!

Hope everything goes well on your scan!

@Eeebee14 thank you!🥰 Hope all is well with you!

All is well. My arm is killing me, and tomorrow I have the flu jab in the other arm. I'm seriously considering cancelling it. I need one functioning arm haha
