What do people think. Baby bump or hormonal bloating? I swear it's looked like this since ovulation.🤣

Is anyone getting pretty bad pregnancy insomnia? Every night I'm getting up for a very large night time pee around 3am but then I'm basically then wide awake until about 6. It's so frustrating

Yes! My youngest is only 14 months and wakes a lot during the night , also she gets up at 5 everyday! DH will often take her downstairs but I really struggle to get back to sleep each time .

Tofu35 · 17/08/2025 22:01

@mumsiemoo2 ouch waking up at 5 every morning sounds tough, yeah I always feel once I'm up the damage has been done!

Although maybe I should use my awake hours to plan a holiday or book some pumpkin patches- be useful while useless!

Yes! sometimes I wake up twice in the night and manage to drift off again around 4am but DS is 5 and likes to wake up at 5:30 so I feel like a zombie for the whole day

Hey has anyone had results back from combined screening? it says I am lower risk and wont be offered any further tests but the actual chance it gives for trisomy 21 is 1/179 which seems soooo much higher than first pregnancy. Apparently the cut off is 150 before tipping into higher risk. My nuchal translucency was normal. Is it quite weighted towards age as i am 35? cant really afford one of the private harmony tests but absolutely don't want amnio. Another thing to worry about!

Joeylove88 · 19/08/2025 20:17

How is everyone coping with working whilst pregnant? I started my new job a few weeks ago but its so tough on me I do long days (office job so not physically challenging) and have a 2 year old to sort out. I do have my partner sharing the load but I ache so much its not easy!

Hi @Floralcat I got my screening results back the other week. My trisomy 21 was 1/608. I also felt unsettled by this. I have looked into get a NIPT done privately, I'm not sure if that is an option for you. I don't know if age impacts the screening as well, I am 36. Could you speak to your midwife to see what has impacted the score? And then make a decision if you want further tests?

@2Sugars2 you are much lower risk than general population of same age? - i think they give 1/350 at 35 without any other factors taken to account but completely understand it is alarming to see the figures on paper.

makes me think my papp - A or hcg abnormal as i had a normal NT- we decided to just confirm with midwife when i next see her and decide if to pay for a NIPT but we do not want amnio anyway and ultimately what will be will be 🤷🏻‍♀️

@Joeylove88 I took 2 days off when I couldn't work with the sickness. Otherwise I am mostly working from home (office job). I have had to have it out with my manager recently though and get HR involved because she decided I should go back in the office now, while I'm still suffering with sickness.

not well! i'm 15+1 and struggling with tiredness and focus. i'm in the office a couple of days a week, but am facing a period where i'm gonna have to be in more, and it's giving me the fear - because every day by the time it gets to 5pm i'm basically asleep on my feet. my husband is doing everything around the house but i'm starting to feel very incompetent haha

Tofu35 · 20/08/2025 16:23

I had my whooping cough vaccine today, I had it with my last pregnancy but didn't realise you got it for each baby!

Wednesdayonline · 20/08/2025 18:08

@Tofu35 do you feel okay afterwards? I always imagine it like my dog getting the kennel cough one up her nose 😂

I really don't understand why they would make you go back into the office when you have sickness do they want you being sick at your desk or constantly in the toilet nit actually working!! It's so ridiculous.

Yes I hear you...im currently in the office for 3 long days one week then 4 the next and I am feeling so tired on my days off I feel I have nothing left to contribute at home even though I try to push through anyway and im only 15+3 weeks so am dreading the coming months!! I have a 30 min commute each way and have to rush my daughter to nursery some days so its just stressful from the moment I wake. I'm considering putting in a request to work from a location within my hometown so I only have a 2 min drive instead just to help me out a bit! No option to wfh unfortunately 😕

Tofu35 · 21/08/2025 06:03

@Joeylove88 check acas for any protected rights you have while pregnant (including changing office location). In my last pregnancy I got a second wind at around 20 weeks so I'm patiently waiting for this to kick in again this time.

I'm not sleepy tired, but starting to feel physically exhausted and light headed some days. Going to call my midwife and check if I should start taking iron supplements (I ended up being very anemic last time).

youngspinach · 21/08/2025 12:05

I have my 16 week check up tomorrow, I wondered if anyone has been able to listen to the baby’s heartbeat at theirs? It sounds like it really depends on the hospital.

Just feels weird as we’ve started telling people now, but at the same time all the symptoms have really dropped off - which is a nice relief, but makes it all feel a bit less real! Would be nice to have something to tide me over to the 20 week scan.

not had my 16 week one yet, but with my previous 16 week checks they’ve been able to detect baby’s heartbeat. Sometimes it can take a while cause baby is still small and they move around a lot haha, but each time they’ve been able to get it😊

speisaalmilk · 21/08/2025 12:24

Hiya, I’ve got another Valentine’s baby here, though I’m aiming for an elective c section so will probably be the week before.

First trimester was awful, ended up missing a couple of weeks of work due to a combination of early bleeding (after two previous losses this year) and severe nausea. I’m on progesterone pessaries till 16 weeks for the bleeding (no more since thank goodness) and Xonvea for the nausea which has been amazing. Felt absolutely knackered until about twelve weeks (literally slept for 22 hours one day) and worked from home a lot (work luckily very understanding) but at 14+5 am now feeling like a proper human again! Starting to taper off the Xonvea so hoping that by the end of 16 weeks I won’t have to organise all my eating and sleeping around my Xonvea/progesterone schedule 😂

We paid for private NIPT and a scan at 11 weeks and we’re so pleased we did - I didn’t want to wait for the slow progress of the NHS screening process due to being almost 38 and general anxiety over previous losses. The scan was fantastic quality and very in depth, we were able to see much better images than at the NHS scan ten days or so later. Also as well as the good news of the low risk NIPT results we were able to find out we are having a boy ❤️

How is everybody doing with exercise/activity? I mostly stayed in bed for the first 12 weeks but starting to feel more normal now - I’ve got pre-natal Pilates starting tonight, so looking forward to that!

youngspinach · 21/08/2025 14:02

Thank you @kiki2516 - fingers crossed I will be able to tomorrow as well. How are you getting on?

Hey @speisaalmilk glad you’re feeling better now, I’m also enjoying the return of my energy in the second trimester! I’ve been doing a bit of spinning which feels like a good low impact option and also doing some pregnancy yoga which I’m enjoying.

kiki2516 · 21/08/2025 16:11

let us know how you get on tomorrow @youngspinach and I’m not too bad, morning sickness is still kicking my butt😂 but had a nice little nap with my youngest today after sitting two hours at the doctors for my diabetes test! Got a scan on Sunday and then will have another when for the gender in a couple of weeks! How are you getting on?

Wednesdayonline · 21/08/2025 22:41

@youngspinach yes they listened to the heartbeat for me at 16 weeks! I didn't expect it or ask they just did it. It took them ages to find though so it was a bit stressy, I'm glad I'd seen so many posts saying it can be hard to find at 16 as it kept me calmer!

youngspinach · 22/08/2025 19:40

Quite an uneventful midwife appointment, they said they don’t listen to the heartbeat until later which is a shame. Everything seems positive in terms of all the tests so far though.

I’m feeling good thanks @kiki2516 , enjoying feeling quite normal at the moment but also looking forward to hopefully having a bit of a bump and starting to feel movements in a few weeks.

Oh how strange, I wonder if it depends on the area you live? At my midwives they offer you for them to listen and you can say no, or you can request them to try. Glad everything else has gone okay though!

I can’t wait to start feeling movements, makes my anxiety go down a lot! Sure I’ve been feeling flutters but could be gas😂
Found out I have gestational diabetes today, which I was really hoping I didn’t have. Had it in my last pregnancy, so I know the risk was higher this time.
still sucks haha.

Do you have anymore scans coming up?

Yeah I was a bit disappointed but I think it just depends on the Trust!

Ahh that’s a shame about the GD, how annoying - at least they’ve picked it up so they can give you any extra monitoring you need.

Nothing booked until the 20 week scan which is in 5 weeks - not sure if I’ll treat myself and book a private one in the meantime as it feels like a long wait now!
