Due November after loss

Hi there,
I've started this thread so that mamas who have similar due dates following a previous loss or losses have somewhere to chat and feel supported.

I've been on a November due date thread but I feel there's a huge difference in the mindset of people who have experienced loss and those who haven't - which makes total sense!

We have different worries and milestones to make it past etc, so please join if you need somewhere to chat, rant, vent, or share your worries.

Pregnancy is an anxious time as it is without having previous trauma to contend with. Is it just me, or has all the joy been sucked out of the experience?

Oooo good luck! Hope everything goes ok! Let us know how you get on xx

Thanks my bile acids have shot back up. They had been stable at slightly raised. Their induction list for today was full so they've repeated the bloods and as they are no worse than yesterday so they have done a sweep and sent me home for the night and they will call in the morning with a time to go back in.

Pumpkinspice13 · 06/09/2025 21:57

Good luck @Superscientist I hope all goes as smoothly as possible.

LER2023 · 08/09/2025 07:51

Im being greedy with scans lately😜
I have a scan today at 10 to check my placenta, see if its functioning the way it should be.
If its not it will be a case of right well we'll either keep an eye or induce later on.
Ive already said i dont want him coming before 35 weeks😅 i know a bit of an ask depending on whether he wants to come early or not!!
Who'd have thought your first would be a pain in the bum🤣
Also found out on thursday i have an anterior placenta, which makes sense as to why i thought something was wrong at 24 weeks! But hes in there wriggling as i type. Surely there cant be an issue with my placenta, im just worried now, i started getting excited to see him on the screen again and now im shitting myself😅

Pumpkinspice13 · 08/09/2025 15:21

How was your scan @LER2023 I hope it went well!

How was your scan @LER2023 I hope it went well!

Sorry ive been so busy with work!
Baby is growing perfectly, hes on the 50th percentile, well just a little over, but thats no cause for concern hes currently weighing 3 pound 5😁
I had both flu and RSV as well both arms are currently dead🤣
He was playing with his winky🤣 and all everyones said is 'exactly like his dad!' My MIL, SIL and OH have said it🤣 my OH went oh ah hes definitely like his dad! Hea just found it early🤣🤣

Give me strength with my OH and son🤣

Bellabubble · 08/09/2025 19:28

@LER2023 glad it all went ok! What reasons sis they have for thinking the placemta may nit be working so well? I had my RSV vaccine today and the lady told me I should consider being induced on my due date because of my age and the increased risks going “overdue” (despite the fact that the EDD they have given me isn’t really possible seeing as we only dtd once that month and it’s a good few days after what they said from the 12 week scan!)

Pumpkinspice13 · 08/09/2025 20:00

@LER2023 Im so glad your scan went well and baby boy is growing well. Sounds like he kept you all entertained during the scan.

@Bellabubble you don’t have to choose induction if it’s not what you want. Natural labour will always be best for you and baby.

Superscientist · 08/09/2025 20:21

Hey ladies, baby boy made an arrival early this afternoon. The induction went relatively well. The odd stressful moment in labour but baby arrived safely with minimal intervention. A sweep the day before, a few hours in the pessetry to get labour going - it could have been in for up to 24h and I did need my waters breaking after labour stalled but I gave birth with just a bit of paracetamol during early labour and gas and air during active labour and delivery with just a graze!

@Bellabubble I think when weighing up induction or not it's important to look at the risks benefits. For me it made absolute sense - my body was really struggling and was at risk of this getting worse. I have been hesitant and nervous over the last few weeks over induction especially as it was likely to be at late preter/ early term.
I wouldn't have taken a one off comment as a given I needed an induction, it was something that I had spoken to quite a few doctors about and I understood what criteria they were using to make the decision between waiting and moving to induction. I spoke to my partner about what induction I would be happy with and we decided that we would go with a induction process that would give my body a nudge but then let it broadly do what it wanted to do. There was the option of breaking my water much earlier in the process but medically they decided against it and I think we probably would have wanted to wait had they not also came to that conclusion

I'm glad your scan went well @LER2023
It's nervy when you have a preterm birth on and off the cards! I think I've googled the risks associated with every week since about 32 weeks! Just focus on every day and week they are inside and happy! I was incredibly grateful to make it to 37 weeks!

Pumpkinspice13 · 08/09/2025 23:04

CONGRATULATIONS!! That’s amazing news!! Welcome to the world baby boy!!
Sounds like a great labour for an early induction, I’m so pleased for you. How are you feeling? I hope you are doing well!

LER2023 · 09/09/2025 06:13

Huge congratulations to you!! Welcome to the world baby! Im glad you had a smooth labour! Sounds like the most perfect labour to have! Hope you and baby are doing ok! X

curliegirlie · 09/09/2025 06:25

Huge congratulations @Superscientist that sounds an amazingly smooth induction and a beautiful little boy af the end of it! Well done 💕

KT199 · 09/09/2025 14:34

Congratulations @Superscientist!! Sounds like the birth was mostly straight forward for you. How are you both doing?

Superscientist · 09/09/2025 16:12

Thank you. We are still in for observations but hopefully home tomorrow. I've been cleared by the obstetricians as my post birth blood tests are no worse than my pregnancy blood tests. Everything should go back to normal over the next few weeks and I need my GP to do repeat blood tests as part of my antenatal checks.

Baby has been very very sleepy and impossible to breastfeed so we had to give a couple of formula top ups but he's done better today and since breakfast has been breastfeed.

The labour was tricky at times it just the things that made it tricky were related to general labour and my extreme fatigue rather than the induction process. I would have rathered the water birth I had with my daughter which was an almost idyllic birth!
I was still very fatigued in labour so was having to sleep every few hours. I labour best when upright so meant whenever had I to lie down to rest progress went backwards. It's swings and roundabouts though as without the rests I wouldn't have had the energy to get to the end and would have been more likely to need interventions. When I was lying down I lost the pressure from baby on my waters and cervix and went from 6 cm with bulking waters to 5 without bulging waters over 4h. This was when they made the decision to break my waters because by this point I couldn't be on my feet at all. Things moved very rapidly from here as I labour quickly once my waters have gone, baby found it a bit difficult but at the end of the day we had a healthy baby and healthy mum.

Labour is painful and long but it's also as much a mental and mindset challenge. I also had great support from the midwives. The midwife on the induction ward recognised quite quickly that I'm a " quiet one" so when I told her quite calmly that the contractions were ramping up with the pessetry in she listen to me and put me on the monitor to check me over and was happy that it had done it's job and could come out. Had it stayed it I probably would have been hyper stimulated and gone progressed much quicker through labour and more at risk of me and baby struggling and needing interventions.
Calmness of mind and breathing for me gets me through. I'm not sure how much the gas and air does pain wise but I do find it easier to get into the right breathing pattern with it. The midwives and My partner said he knew i was doing ok and getting close and I kept saying I can't do it I can't do it which is what I did with my daughter. Very much pushing your body to the edge and then a little bit more!

curliegirlie · 09/09/2025 20:24

With the breastfeeding, is it just the sleepiness or is there potentially some tongue tie? DD1 had both, but nipple shields first allowed her to latch, and then the feeding midwives at the breastfeeding clinic arranged an appointment for the tongue tie to be snipped. She still needed a top up for her first 7 months, but then moved to just being boobed and went onto feed until she was 2.5!

There is a tie, which we are already down to have assessed, but the issue was the sleepiness. We didn't even get the nipple in his mouth and he had low blood sugars. He slept from 4pm until 3am and then from 3am until lunchtime even stripping him down to a nappy! Doing 5 large meconium poos in quick succession after I thought changing his nappy might be a good idea to wake him up at 3am was the only thing that brought him out of his slumber. We just about managed to get a syringe and tiny teat in his mouth to give him enough milk to get his blood sugars high enough to keep the midwives happy enough

Today by stripping him down to a nappy has got him to rouse enough to have breastfeed and they are now happy with his blood sugars.

InvisibleDragon · 09/09/2025 22:07

Congratulations on your baby boy @Superscientist ! I hope you both manage to get home soon!

Xwx1010 · 10/09/2025 18:23

@Superscientist hufe congratulations! So glad baby made it into the world safely and you’re doing well!! Xx

curliegirlie · 10/09/2025 21:21

@SuperscientistI feel for you. DD1 has Down’s Syndrome, which was another obstacle in addition to the tongue tie - hypotonia also made feeding hard work, so she was also very sleepy in her first few days and weeks. I was the only mum I knew who had to set alarms to wake my baby for a feed in the night!! But we got there! And so will you. Solidarity xxx

Pumpkinspice13 · 12/09/2025 01:23

How are you and baby doing @Superscientist. I hope you are both doing well!

Fletchasketch · 12/09/2025 09:03

@Superscientist just wanted to say congratulations on your new arrival. I've been following this thread for a while as would have been due in October following a previous loss last August. We were on the same due date thread back then and I remember how kind and helpful you were to me and the other ladies on that thread. It really made a difference and I'm so pleased you got your happy ending. I very recently found out I'm pregnant again and your story has given me a bit of hope, so thank you for that. All the very best to you and your family.

Wow I haven’t been on for a week or so, what a lot to catch up on! @Superscientist and @InvisibleDragon huge congratulations on the safe arrival of your babes, it must be such a relief to have them earthside.

Hope everyone else is doing ok. I’m nearly 32 weeks and exhausted, had a massive nosebleed this morning too, oh and our boiler has packed in! Had a blood test last week to check my B12 and folate level due to high MCV on my FBC but B12 came back in range and folate was high, I’ve continued taking it past 12 weeks though so to be expected. I have midwife on Tuesday and another growth scan on Thursday, fingers crossed for baby to still be on the same trajectory!
