Due November after loss

CloudsInMyCoffee09 · 11/04/2025 15:31

Hi there,
I've started this thread so that mamas who have similar due dates following a previous loss or losses have somewhere to chat and feel supported.

I've been on a November due date thread but I feel there's a huge difference in the mindset of people who have experienced loss and those who haven't - which makes total sense!

We have different worries and milestones to make it past etc, so please join if you need somewhere to chat, rant, vent, or share your worries.

Pregnancy is an anxious time as it is without having previous trauma to contend with. Is it just me, or has all the joy been sucked out of the experience?

Hi and welcome @jenjennie1985 sorry for your losses. I'm glad you found us too, the anxiety is torture and we all feel it. I'm 14+4 so we must have similar due dates 💕

I hope everything has been straight forward for you in this pregnancy. Do you have any private scans booked or are you on the long stretch to the 20 week one? Xx

CloudsInMyCoffee09 · 25/05/2025 18:25

Hi everyone, hope you're all OK.

I've just been for my extra private scan and all was fine 💕 I'm a complete wreck every time and don't think that's ever going to change 🙈 xx

JenJennie1985 · 25/05/2025 18:36

Thanks everyone for the warm welcome! @Xwx1010 12 week scan was absolutely fine . The only thing that worried me was that I barely saw any movement at all! Just a brief move of an arm . But probably nothing to worry about.

@CloudsInMyCoffee09 glad your scan went well today - I am considering booking one for when I'm 16 weeks but unsure ! Will you book another before 20 weeks?

I am also 14+4 so we have exactly the same due date!

Pumpkinspice13 · 25/05/2025 18:54

Glad your scan went well! Hope you enjoy your day out with your family tomorrow, will be thinking of you! Xx

KT199 · 26/05/2025 11:04

Hi ladies,

glad your scan was okay @CloudsInMyCoffee09 and allow yourself to feel whatever you feel today.

I was hospitalised over the weekend.. I thought my morning sickness had gone tbh but turns out the tablets I was on and subsequently ran out of were just hiding the fact I actually have hypermesis! Anyway, home now and have some of the tablets. Time to rest and relax as I didn’t eat for 3 days and only yesterday evening started to be able to keep fluids down. I’m really thankful I’m on a medication that keeps it so at bay now and I’ll be so worried to stop taking them after that turn!

Welcome @JenJennie1985 ☺️

Bellabubble · 26/05/2025 18:45

@JenJennie1985 sorry you find yourself here - I completely understand where you are coming from - I truly felt like my innocence of a blissful pregnancy had been robbed (I had 2 losses before my daughter, then another loss and now this pregnancy where I am 13wks 5days) I was so envious of my friends. I know they also had worries, and different anxieties, but there was never the same fear I had and Inwas never really able to let go until my daughter was in my arms! You will definitely find this group a great place to voice worries and be supported by others who know how you feel.

@KT199 gosh that sounds a bit scary - although I’m glad your tablets are working so well. Do they say you have to come off them or can you take them all pregnancy?

Bellabubble · 26/05/2025 18:48

I had a glucose test this weekend (my ahe triggered it despite being no risk in any other category) and it came back normal 🙌🏻 I have to go again between weeks 24-28 now just to double check. Despite it being the lady’s job, it was the worst set of bloods I have ever had taken. I have very visible veins and I bleed well (luckily I stop bleeding well too lol) but I actually got a bruise this time round which has never happened before!

Pumpkinspice13 · 26/05/2025 19:00

@Bellabubble glad to hear your results came back as normal! Not sure what you mean by ahe? I hate when I end up with someone really rough doing my bloods, hopefully you get someone with gentle hands at your next lot x

Superscientist · 26/05/2025 19:39

@KT199 sorry you have had a rough few days. When I have come to the end of my anti sickness prescriptions I wean myself down so I can see if I still need them before completing running out. I was on xonvea twice a day this time around so stopped my morning dose. Xonvea is a slow acting medication so the evening dose helps more with morning sickness and the morning dose the afternoon sickness. I knew when I had forgotten the morning dose that I was being sick by 2-3 in the afternoon. After 3 days on that I had a couple of doses left so I took the evening dose every other day and was ok so knew I could stop it and didn't need to get another prescription.

I then had a bad cough, possibly whooping cough and that caused me to be sick again so along with precautionary antibiotics just in case it was whooping cough I got another prescription and took them for another week whilst I was struggling with coughing and resulting vomiting.

The last two days I've started to be sick again. Only once yesterday and twice a day so I'm going to keep an eye on it and restart the xonvea if I need. I'm 22 weeks and with my daughter I had hyperemesis into he first and third trimester and occasional sickness in the second trimester. This time around I only need antiemetics for 3 weeks so it has been no where near as bad and the xonvea removed it completely had I not had sickness on the occasional day when I forgot the morning dose I would have thought I hadn't had any at all

Superscientist · 26/05/2025 19:44

@Bellabubble I don't usually bruise with blood tests but once I had a gp do them so I didn't have to come back for a second appointment and oh my I bruised so badly!
Another bad blood test happened when I was in hospital at the beginning on August when then new doctors start working and had a junior Dr on his first week. He just pulled the needle out and sent me out of the treatment room without pressing on it to stem the blood or giving me any cotton wool to put on it nor given a plaster. I had to turn around and go back in with blood pouring down my arm!

LER2023 · 27/05/2025 06:09

Hiya! Sorry im a little late to the party😅
Just trying to keep busy so i dont have to think about all the scary things!

I rarely bruise when i have my bloods done, theyve all started using smaller needles to help with the pain and the bruising, but sometimes i do still bruise. When i went for my 12 week scan, jesus she didnt half pinch! But i had to tell her which arm was best for bloods (i probably sound like a right drug addict but ive had so much blood taken in the last 3 years they probably have some spare supply of it!🙃)

Every time i go to the doctors theyre like we need blood🫠

Im thankful i havent suffered with HG, i couldnt cope with the little amount of sickness i had at 7 weeks let alone all the time!🥲

Ive booked in my private scan for gender determination for sunday and now im worried sick that something has happened with baby😅
I'll be 16+1 at the time of the scan. But gosh it does not make it any easier!
I also know i'll be coming off progesterone soon and thats scaring me too, does anyone have any positive stories over coming off progesterone at 16 weeks?😬

Superscientist · 27/05/2025 07:58

I came off progesterone at 16 weeks now 22 weeks and lay in bed with some beautiful kicks. @LER2023
Good luck with your scan x

Bellabubble · 27/05/2025 09:09

@Pumpkinspice13 whoops - that meant to say age lol - because I’m 41 apparently it means I’m at a higher risk of GD.

@Superscientist woah - I know they are called junior drs - but they have still done 5yrs of medical degree by that point even if it was his first year so the mind boggles at how he forgot that part!!

Xwx1010 · 27/05/2025 10:36

Had so much blood taken over the past few years with ectopics etc. worst one was the midwife at 12 weeks. No idea what she did to make such a bad job of it but area was purple!

also I stopped my progesterone last night (had moved to a lower dose the last week to ease off it) and feeling great, much less discomfort and wind. See how this week goes. I had bleeding last week but don’t think it was related - more of a fibroid issue.

CloudsInMyCoffee09 · 27/05/2025 11:37

Hiya, I'm 15 weeks tomorrow and only prescribed progesterone until 16 weeks so I'm not sure if they'll tell me to stop at the point or prescribe more...

I'll miss the psychological effect of feeling like I'm proactively doing something to keep baby safe, I think I'll struggle with that even if it's a placebo effect!

I also spoke to my midwife about taking aspirin... she said there's no reason to think I need it but that it can't hurt if I want to take it on the off chance it does do some good. I'm a bit nervous of taking something based off my own research though and also terrified that I could have been taking it from 12 weeks but haven't, and if something went wrong I'd blame myself for not taking it.

How does everyone else feel about the aspirin thing? Is it worth just taking it? Do the potential benefits outweigh any potential negatives if I take it regardless? xx

Bellabubble · 27/05/2025 12:00

I took 75mg off my own back for my pregnancy with my daughter - that was the first time, and that was my pregnancy that went full term. The next time I fell pregnant I didn’t take it and that ended in a loss so this time round I took 75mg again from my positive test. At my midwife booking appointment I was given a prescription for 150 mg to take from 12 weeks plus but that is because I am over 40 and they say that apparently the blood flow isn’t as good or something like that. I would argue that given how well I bleed when I give blood I feel like my blood flow is probably fine lol but as there is no harm in taking it, I figured I would do it anyway. With my first pregnancy that went full term I was 36 and turned 37 whilst I was pregnant and the midwife never said anything about taking it after 12 weeks so I didn’t and everything was fine :)

KT199 · 27/05/2025 12:35

Thanks @Superscientist useful to know about the tapering!! I didn’t run out, out of choice, but also didn’t realise what it truly was masking. My GP doesn’t allow me to order a repeat prescription until I only have 2 days worth left, but the problem is then they take 2 days to process said request and no pharmacies near me seem to stock Xonvea and have to order it so end up a few days behind.. it also coincided with bank hol so the delay was even worse. But I will absolutely be speaking to my doctor and saying I need to order in advance. Also, do they only prescribe you 10 days at a time?! It’s driving me mad all I’m doing is ordering and chasing this medicine.

Xwx1010 · 27/05/2025 12:37

My EPAU stated there is no evidence progesterone is helpful after 16w (only prior) so would not prescribe it - even to anyone who had known issues with lining etc regardless of my bleed last week. placenta should be doing everything now and
progesterone naturally increasing at this stage.
They said I wouldn’t do any harm if I wanted to continue what I had for a few extra days but I was glad to stop yesterday tbh, I’ve been so uncomfortable with trapped wind, not sleeping etc. I don’t think at this point it is the deciding factor in if my pregnancy continues so I’m ready to let it go

ps I don’t take any aspirin x

SnakebitesandSambucas · 27/05/2025 13:32

I just gave birth to my little boy on the 16th. I took progesterone and weaned myself of slowly definitely psychological! The consultant just said taper it down if it helps you mentally cope. I was on 150mg aspirin but that was because I had APS and high risk of pre exclampsia.

CloudsInMyCoffee09 · 27/05/2025 13:40

aw thanks everyone! @Bellabubble I'm 38 and will turn 39 a few weeks after my EDD, so it's not been mentioned to me but I might go ahead and take it anyway just to be extra safe and feel like i'm doing something useful! Do you take it right up till baby is here?

I think my little irrational brain worries that if i don't need it I'll bleed too much and cause some sort of issue! xx

I turned 40 this year and it was recommended by my midwife that aspirin be prescribed for me due to age. A letter was sent to my GP.

Advice was to take 'from 12 weeks of pregnancy until onset of labour, admission for planned induction of labour or 4 days prior to planned caesarean birth'

I still haven't received a prescription but I started taking 150mg each evening from about 12 weeks 3 days ish... thankfully nice and cheap and seems readily available from supermarkets!

CloudsInMyCoffee09 · 27/05/2025 14:01

@JenJennie1985 that's so helpful, thank you! I'll grab some on my way home :)

Hi everyone! 👋
I hope you don’t mind me joining this thread! I’m currently 15 weeks pregnant with what will hopefully be our rainbow baby after 2 losses in the last 18 months- 2 years. In December 2023 I had a traumatic miscarriage at 11 weeks and then last December our daughter was still born at 37 weeks after a cord accident. Hoping to talk to some ladies who are experiencing the intense anxiety of pregnancy after loss ❤️

Bellabubble · 27/05/2025 17:03

@CloudsInMyCoffee09 my prescription says to take until 36weeks :)

@HLouise94 welcome - I’m so sorry you find yourself here and I’m really sorry to hear about your losses. I have only had early losses, but had 2 friends with a second trimester loss and one who had their little girl born sleeping at full term. I know it was a really tough time for her - I can’t even imagine how it feels, my heart goes out to you! She went on to have 2 healthy children both who are now thriving (one a teenager and one soon to be!) x
