Oh we had that. I have 3 other children all had ties.
my older son though it wasn’t sorted till he was 6m because they were adamant his vomiting up feeds was reflux. It was the only symptom we had. Once they did his tie it was like a lightbulb he literally didn’t vomit the feed up and it never happened again.

this baby is my only 1 to have weight issues.

thats great. I know my health visitor said they like to see 20-30g gain a day but some do just gain slowly. A gain is still a gain. With him awake now more hopefully he will continue to gain.

@LookingAtMyBhunas i haven’t had my baby yet! Due Friday. How are you doing? I actually don’t think I’ve ever been as miserable as I have been the past few days.. feels like I will never go into labour..

Superscientist · 22/09/2025 10:11

How is everyone doing?

MyGardenDaisies · 22/09/2025 17:44

Hiya! My baby is now 2 weeks, time flies!

I have some irritated skin due to overhang under my c section scar and eczema on breasts that’s causing me worries, but otherwise feeling better with every day.

we have been out and about every day on short walks and outings.

how is everyone else doing? X

sunshineandrain82 · 22/09/2025 17:47

We are 24 days old now. Still battling weight issues. Which is causing us prolonged jaundice. But we were under treatment levels today at clinic.

c-section wise it all seems to be healing well. Dp is on his last week of paternity now so I’ve started to take back over my household chores/role ready for when he’s back at work next week. Getting baby fed, breakfast, lunches and kids to 4 different schools today was interesting.

hotpotlover · 23/09/2025 18:14

Had a healthy baby girl yesterday at Birmingham womens hospital via elective c section. Will go home now. Xxx

MrsH26 · 23/09/2025 22:17

We’ve been home with our little warrior for just over 2wks now. She’s 10wks old.
she’d been plodding with weight for a while with the NICU restrictions re feeding. In the weeks we’ve been home she’s absolutely stacked weight on! All inclusive free bar (•) (•) 😂
she was predicted to be just short of 5lb at term being IUGR, she’s 5lb 4oz now and not due until Saturday.

struggling really badly with reflux, so we don’t get sleep. At all.

Superscientist · 24/09/2025 09:32

@MyGardenDaisies sounds like you are doing well, it's great that you are managing to get out most days.

@sunshineandrain82 I'm in awe of your ability to manage a newborn and 4 school runs. I've only managed the school run once for far and for 1 school! My partner goes back to work next week so I need to figure out how to make it work.

Sorry you are still struggling with weight and jaundice. I hope the review goes ok.

@hotpotlover congratulations on your little one. I hope you are home now x

@MrsH26 sounds like your little one is doing amazingly! We had a difficult battle with reflux with my daughter, it's so hard. Have they offered any treatment yet? My daughter ended up on 3 different medications for it and me cutting out all of the foods she was allergic too out of my diet. The first 4 months were awful.

sunshineandrain82 · 24/09/2025 09:36

We are above birth weight finally! We had appointment at jaundice clinic and he’s below treatment levels at least.

oh also goes back to work next week and have to figure out taking over all the runs again. Ds1 goes to a school out of town that’s a 35 mile round trip so I’ve got to figure that one out as I haven’t been given the all clear to drive yet.

think we will be using trains. But it’s 45 min trip each way. So will need breakfast and after school club for at least 1 of my others.

Hi Ladies,
I have a question… anyone had an elective c section and can help?

I am actually due October but asking on here as you ladies are further along than me and hopefully have the experience/advice.

I am currently 37 weeks and hope to have a section, due to a few reasons (one being a big baby). I was meant to have an appointment today with the consultant but she wasn’t able to attend so I had an apt with the Dr instead who went through the consent form, we completed that and I was advised I might have to have a telephone apt with the consultant and then I’ll get my date.

Has anyone had this? I’m getting anxious now because I’m technically full term and still have no birth plan.

Any advice welcome…

She’s on erithromycin and Omeprazole and we’re paying for private Osteopathy.

The paediatric team don’t believe there’s any allergy involvement and it’s all due to prematurity and having an immature digestive system, long term NG use is notoriously bad for development and strengthening if the stomach muscles and sphincter :-(
at the moment we take it in turns to hold her upright all night because she can’t tolerate being laid down, even on an incline.

My daughters reflux is mostly immaturity of her valve at the top of her stomach. She's 5 and we are only just able to reduce her medications. Whenever she's had a big growth spurt she's had a relapse. It corresponds with growing in length/height rather than weight so it wasn't always possible to get her meds weight adjusted.

For her, her allergies are in addition to the reflux but does make the reflux worse the paediatrician said it was unlikely to be allergies but after 4 months of no improvement in her reflux it was worth considering and we identified 20 food allergies! If it continues to be poorly managed it might be worth considering cmpa in addition to the reflux. One of my daughters friends was a prem baby and had bad reflux as well as mild cmpa, her mum going dairy free didn't stop the reflux but made it less bad. She found early weaning helpful, under paediatric supervision although weaning made my daughter's reflux worse. As with so much of reflux management what works for one doesn't work for another!

I remember those days of holding her up well. One thing I found was sometimes keeping her in the same position she fed in helped for a little while as moving her from the feeding position to being upright was enough to trigger her to reflux if done too soon after a feed.

So pleased you are at birth weight now and that he's jaundice is improving!

We have our day 17 weigh in tomorrow and hoping to be above birth weight. After getting the tongue tie cut his weight gain picked up. He had gained 50g between day 6 and 9 and another 50g between day 9 and 10! Tongue tie was cut on day 8.

Good luck with the school runs next week. When do you have your review to find if you can drive again?

@EEB1989 I had an elective an a call with consultant first mainly about risks of vaginal delivery of a LGA baby, then in person consultant to sign consent form. The letter with c section date came after ( I was about 37w then) and I could also see the date scheduled on mymaternitynotes online.

I would just ring up your chosen hospital and ask if it’s scheduled.

They called me last week and said they will call me into the hospital two days before the section to go through pre-op and take bloods etc.

Then I’ll be given a date. They said it can be anywhere from 08/10 - 15/10. I’m really hoping it’s after 10/10 because my husband is working away until then. He can come home if needed.
They said in the meantime if baby starts to make an appearance to go in and they will arrange it asap.

So I guess it’s a waiting game… much like ordinary labour lol.
