So excited for you all. Not long to go now. 36 weeks today & so uncomfortable! but we are nearly there girls!!!

MyGardenDaisies · 11/08/2025 20:46

I absolutely hated induction, they used the tampon like thing for me and it felt like the midwife put the entire underarm in me. Ended up in a c section at the end at least and it was amazing experience!

I am having a planned C section this time, hoping to get the date in my scan & consultation appointment this week!

hotpotlover · 14/08/2025 18:22

I have a planned c-section aswell.

I've been put on the waiting list, so I'll likely find out my date one week before the section.

sunshineandrain82 · 14/08/2025 18:30

Last consultant appointment today.
all is good. He’s measuring massive though.

pre op appointment next week.
im on the morning list but will be first of the day as long as no emergencies due to gestational diabetes and my other condition.

15 days to go just hoping he doesn’t try and make a appearance before hand.

Cherry1703 · 14/08/2025 18:42

@sunshineandrain82 eeeek! How many weeks are you and what's his estimated weight? 🙈

I’m 36+4 and he was estimated to be over 8lb today

Hi everyone, I wanted to pop back in and wish you all luck.

I haven't been on in a long, long time as after losing two early pregnancies and then a little boy at 19 weeks, when I fell pregnant again in January, it became too difficult to even acknowledge. We only told about 8 people the whole time.

Our second little boy was born 7 weeks early two weeks ago. We’re still in NICU due to feeding issues, and it’s honestly been hell. I ended up needing a cerclage to prevent another 2nd trimester loss, but my waters went one night at home at 33 weeks. I laboured for five hours with the stitch in as no one was available to remove it, and when they were, it all went down hill so quickly.

They tried to remove the stitch with no pain relief three times before moving to theatre where the spinal block failed, my blood pressure shot up and baby’s heart rate plummeted, so ended up with a Cat 1 emergency section under general anaesthetic. My husband had to leave the room in tears, we didn’t know if we’d ever see each other or our baby again. Neither of us were ‘present’ for his birth, and being in NICU is a special kind of hell.

The pregnancy was horrifically painful throughout, I ended up on bed rest for four months, and his birth will be traumatising forever. It’s a stark reminder that, when we see someone walking down the road pregnant and seemingly perfect, there can be so much going on underneath.

Good luck to you all.

MyGardenDaisies · 16/08/2025 16:58

Hiya!

Oh wow what a difficult time you have had. You really don't know what is going on in anothers life.

Do make sure you get the psychological support to process everything once you step out of fire fighting mode.

Wishing you a more straight forward journey through NICU, home and beyond x

Cherry1703 · 16/08/2025 17:24

@KittyFantastica
I'm so sorry to hear about your experience and what you've been through and currently going through.
Hope you get the right support as it sounds so traumatic.
Thinking of you, take care ❤️

MrsH26 · 17/08/2025 04:29

@KittyFantastica
I’m with you re the NICU journey! We’ve been on there over 5wks now. And we potentially have another 3-5 to go! There’s so much trauma just associated with NICU.
Do you have a psychologist on the unit? We have one and they’re specially NICU associated and they’re a godsend some days!

I struggle with term babies coming/going. Babies crying, because mine is still a little too small to cry properly yet. Having to leave at the end of the day is horrific & gets worse as time goes on. Especially when she’s awake, I sob every time!

be kind to yourself. NICU is damn hard 😢

Hi lovely. I had baby last week at 36 weeks and also had a cat 1 section under general anaesthetic. We have been in NICU for seven days now and agree it is hell. Every day is a rollercoaster. I completely feel your frustration and send you lots of love. We will get there, keep powering through the days. I know it’s hard ❤️

MyGardenDaisies · 22/08/2025 08:39

oh gosh, sorry to hear so many of you have had challenging starts with your babies! Hope you all get to go home soon ❤️

I am full term today and have at most 2 weeks and 3 days left before baby arrives, so doing last nesting jobs, got the pre op appointments next week, will cook freezer meals and do a deep clean of the house!

I had my pre op this week ready for next Friday. It was interesting.

did our last family day out this week before baby comes. I wouldn’t recommend a theme park at 37 weeks pregnant. 😰

been busy getting car mot before baby comes as it’s due just after. Had it cleaned and moved all the kids around to figure out who’s sitting where. Isofix is now fitted.

packed our bags ready. I’m not worrying about cooking anything. Oh will either cook or we know our 17 year old is able to make pastas and meals with us talking her through it as worse case. But we ended up with loads of just eat gift cards at Christmas and we found we usually get gifted some so I’ll probably make use of those.

my mother will be here on day 1 home as she’s caring for my younger children. She usually cooks a decent meal for day 1.

now to concentrate on getting all the kids school stuff ready and labelled. My C-section is on Friday next week and 3 of the 4 children return to school from Monday after. So need to make sure that’s all sorted in case I’m not home. My older 2 are secondary so they are mostly self sufficient in terms of getting ready. But my youngest will need everything organising for her. So will make it as easy as possible for someone to get her in on Monday. My son doesn’t start year 4 till middle of September though so won’t worry about him.

Superscientist · 23/08/2025 15:16

I hope everyone in NICU is doing ok.

I thought I was heading that way myself last night as I headed to triage in suspected labour but turns out I have an irritated uterus which was giving me contraction like pains all afternoon. Ctg monitoring was picking them up but the exam and swap showed no sign of labour. It did make me realise that I've only packed the charging cable in my hospital bag and not the plug to go with it!

Cherry1703 · 26/08/2025 14:05

Hey ladies! Hope you're all doing well and those with babies in NICU, sending lots of love to you!

I'm 39 weeks today and had a growth scan today.. fluid levels are back within normal range, however they said baby has dropped from 70th centile to 40th centile when it comes to their growth.. So consultant started pushing for a sweep today or induction tomorrow, which I declined, then she started scaring me with stillbirth statistics!

I've had 4 growth scans, how accurate are they?!?

2 of the growth scan results were following the same curve (70th), however today's sonographer has done the other 2 scans and them results have always been on the lower side (40th), which I did point out to the consultant, who was just interested in advising some sort of intervention!

Baby is currently weighing around 7lbs at 39 weeks, I just don't know how I feel right now after leaving that consultants office.. mixed emotions for sure.. xx

None of mine have ever been accurate. One of my 6lb was estimated to be over 8lb. Where my 8lb was considered small and 5lb.

im 38 weeks with c-section Friday. Estimated at 8lb at 36 weeks. I’ve gestational diabetes so I’m expecting 7-8lb. But I don’t feel as big as I did with my 8lb so it wouldn’t surprise me if they are smaller then expected.

If I understand correctly you have had 4 growth scans, 2 on the 70th and 2 on the 40th percentile. Scan 3 was 70th and scan 4 you've dropped back to the 40th. What's the average daily weight gain for that period, how does it compare with what they like to see? I think my consultant said 20g per day was ideal.

I think the questions in the circumstances are. What will happen if I say yes today? What will happen if I make the decision tomorrow? What alternatives are there - monitoring etc?

I believe the errors on the weights of growth scans at term are approximately +/-1lb. I know someone who was told she would have a big baby and they were born 2 days later a smidge under 7lb!

Superscientist · 26/08/2025 20:07

I'm absolutely and utterly drained!
I don't know if it's pregnancy or something going on but I'm struggling to stay awake in the day and waking from naps as if I haven't been asleep. I'm still only 35 weeks and even though I'm going to be induced early it still feels like a long way off. I've had my latest bloods for my liver function due to having ICP today. I tried to raise it with the person that took my blood this morning but just got a sympathetic smile. They should phone with the results tomorrow I might try again then.

Cherry1703 · 26/08/2025 20:57

@Superscientist@sunshineandrain82

Yes, that's right. 2nd and 4th scan which were on the 40th centile were both performed by the same sonographer and the other 2 were 2 different sonographers so I don't understand how accurate these growth scans can be!
I asked the consultant how accurate growth scans are and she jumped on to the topic of stillbirths and an induction for tomorrow or sweep today!
I declined both as I just didn't feel comfortable making a decision right away.
She said average weight gain should be 20g a day whereas baby's has been 14g a day over the past 2 weeks.
She offered no alternative, not even a follow up appt or anything! I'm high risk so surely they can't allow me to carry on as normal if I go over by 2 weeks?!
My community midwife has offered me a sweep at 40+1 next week however my hospital/consultant and community midwife have no communication as they both come under 2 different boroughs so the hospital won't even be aware of the sweep.. midwife still uses paper version of notes whereas the hospital notes are on an app and the hospital often disregard my midwifes notes whenever I've taken them in and said they don't need them.

MyGardenDaisies · 26/08/2025 21:38

hi!

I have nearly finished all my pre-op appointments, only a phone call with the anaesthetist left!

we have been nesting like mad 😄 so only have freezer meal prep left and thinking of getting a hair cut maybe. 🤔 Less than 2 weeks now!

@Cherry1703 sorry you’re having to make such a decision, but the consultant has a duty to explain the risks, and as far as I understand it’s your decision, they can’t force you to be induced, so unfortunately it has to be your informed decision.

Edited

Not long now for you.

i have final midwife appointment tomorrow
Thursday final lot of bloods
Friday is the day.

im not the one nesting. Today is day 1 of 36 days of for oh and he’s gone into full on nesting. It’s benefited me so can’t complain. Im in so much pain now that even simple household things have become impossible. Walked downstairs earlier and my entire right side ended up having stabbing pains. So I’m just resting for the final days now.

MyGardenDaisies · 26/08/2025 21:50

@sunshineandrain82is it pelvic girdle pain you’ve got? I had that with my 1st and also really struggled to walk. This time round have been lucky and swimming also has helped to reduce pains and aches.

Swimming for sure helps.
some of it is. But it’s been made worse because I slipped on some stones on a footpath other week while walking my dog.

completely not his fault I didn’t spot them and misjudged my footing. But he’s a 30kg Labrador which didn’t help.

MyGardenDaisies · 28/08/2025 12:54

@sunshineandrain82hoep you have a fantastic time meeting your baby tomorrow ! 🥰

my C section got moved forward to same hospital I had my first one, so really excited ans
a bit more relaxed about having another surgery, as there’s a familiar feeling now.
