Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

@Sunshine924 good luck today, will be thinking of you x

Thinking of you @Sunshine924

Everything smells off and I don't fancy any food but am absolutely ravenous. I miss my morning coffee but can't face the thought of it!!

Superscientist · 10/03/2025 12:05

For those struggling with sickness. If it is making day to day tasks a challenge or eating and drinking is an issue to the point of risks of dehydration or weight loss. There are meds that are safe in pregnancy and can help.
You can also get signed off sick if necessary. In my last pregnancy I had a 4 weeks sick note due to my Sickness and was offered 8 weeks! 7-9 weeks can be real kickers but for most people as you get closer to 12 weeks it should get easier.

Sunshine924 · 10/03/2025 12:19

Thanks all for the good wishes. The scan went well we saw a teeny heartbeat 💓 they said I am measuring 5w6d which is strange given last week I was 5w1d but they didn't seem fussed about that in the slightest as maybe this earlyon it's hard to measure? I am trying to trust that progress to a heartbeat is a really good sign.

My nausea is awful, I'm not being sick and am eating quite a bit but I just feel horrendous 24/7. I'm considering asking work for some adjustments like shorter days or something as if I'm only 6 weeks it could get worse!

Figtree11 · 10/03/2025 12:39

@Sunshine924 that’s really great, hopefully each scan you’ll keen catching up. Do you have another planned?

@CustardCream31 how are things going with the spotting?

emmatcc1 · 10/03/2025 12:47

@Sunshine924 Lovely news!!

CustardCream31 · 10/03/2025 13:05

@Figtree11 afternoon! Thanks for checking in. I'm doing ok thanks, spotting has mostly stopped thankfully... still a worry with every wee though!! One more week until scan... trying not to overthink everything and what will be, will be...

How are you doing? How's the nausea? 💐

Figtree11 · 10/03/2025 14:21

@CustardCream31 i’m glad it’s pretty much stopped ☺️ I’ve not had any for a good few days now which I’m relieved about. But like you I’m constantly checking when I go to the toilet. The nausea is manageable - I’m at work now & got a wave of it come over me & im struggling. But on the whole it’s just there in the background & then is bad in the evenings when I have to snooze on the sofa before going to bed! How about you?

FenellaFurchester · 10/03/2025 14:32

@Sunshine924 Great news!!

Oh that's good yours hasn't come back either. Fingers crossed that's the last of it and it's just a blip/hormonal spotting... glad to hear your nausea is manageable.

The tiredness is a whole new level isn't it 😴 mine has truly hit me like a truck again today after feeling not too bad the last few days. Off for the school run in a minute, but just want to curl up in bed after working all day!

These days feel so long until our next scan don't they... but will hopefully be here before we know it (and be good news!) 💫

Figtree11 · 10/03/2025 14:57

@CustardCream31 I spoke too soon, just had to leave a meeting to go & be sick!
Yeah it’s still 2 and a half weeks til my next scan, it feels like ages yet. I’m trying to put it to the back of my mind, but it’s difficult

Oh no!! Hope you're ok!! Can you pinpoint if anything sets it off? I find if I get too hungry my nausea is worse.
I also spoke too soon... some more brown spotting just before I left 😫 ffs. Not much but still, ffs!!
Hope your day goes quickly so you can get back and chill, and the next 2.5 weeks speeds past!

pumpkinpatches22 · 10/03/2025 16:53

@Sunshine924 really happy to hear your scan went well and @CustardCream31 and @Figtree11 really happy to hear your spotting has been reducing. Nice to read positive updates after a worrying week for everyone. ❤️

Part of me is worrying that my nausea should be stronger. 8 weeks today. For a few days last week I’ve was feeling okay apart from mild nausea and tiredness. The fatigue has definitely come back full force since Saturday and I did have my first full on vomiting session this morning. Usually it’s just dry heaving/gagging and maybe a little bit of throw up if I gag too hard but this morning it was much stronger and I threw up everything (sorry TMI) but after that I felt okay. I was dry heaving on the dog walk and have had waves of mild nausea/some gagging during the day but otherwise I don’t feel awful. I can eat and have an appetite etc. All I am reading everywhere is women feeling super nauseous all day at 8 weeks. Should I be worried?

Everything from zero sickness to unable to function with sickness is the spectrum of normal unfortunately.
With my last pregnancy that ended in miscarriage I had hyperemesis and couldn't move from the sofa at 8 weeks but the embryo never got past 6 weeks. This time round I was over 7 weeks when I found I was expecting and had in the week before testing. I'm on antiemetics, having had hyperemesis twice since July last year, so I can't say exactly what I would be like now but up to 8 weeks when I started them it was a lot less than normal for me but I had a good scan at 8+3 weeks much further than the last pregnancy managed!

emmatcc1 · 10/03/2025 17:56

@pumpkinpatches22 I’m the same with symptoms sometimes I don’t even feel pregnant. Also 8 weeks. We’ll see tomorrow how the scan goes.

Sunshine924 · 10/03/2025 18:17

@Figtree11 I've got no more NHS scans until 12 weeks which seems like an eternity away!
Id like to go for a private one at 9 weeks but my DH isn't keen he thinks it's just fueling being anxious. How many weeks will you be at your next one?

pumpkinpatches22 · 10/03/2025 18:36

@Superscientist im so sorry to hear about your miscarriage - that must have been so
hard. So difficult not even being able To rely on strong symptoms. The not knowing is so hard. I really hope you have a sticky bean this time. I really appreciate the reassurance.
@emmatcc1 thank you also for the reassurance, I will be thinking of you in your scan tomorrow and hope it goes ok.

Figtree11 · 10/03/2025 19:19

@CustardCream31 i had a bit of chocolate not long before so I’m wondering if it was that. Came over with the hot sweats & faint feeling, was awful! I’m sorry the spotting has come back 😔 it really is horrible even though it’s shown no reason for it.

@emmatcc1 hope all goes well tomorrow

@Sunshine924 i’ll be 10 weeks at the next scan, but having mine under the recurrent miscarriage clinic. Maybe see how you go over the next couple of weeks & if feeling anxious, maybe it will help alleviate the anxiety. I know the relief doesn’t last long after a scan though

Superscientist · 10/03/2025 19:27

Thanks @pumpkinpatches22, it was hard knowing symptoms don't necessarily tell you much, my first pregnancy last year I was nauseous and sick for a week after my miscarriage which was particularly cruel of my body!
I have my dating scan next week so all fingers crossed for then.

pumpkinpatches22 · 11/03/2025 12:07

@emmatcc1 hooray! So so happy for you! How are you feeling today? Xxx

emmatcc1 · 11/03/2025 12:25

@pumpkinpatches22 Was a bit nauseous in the morning but feel much better now. I think the anxiety made me more nauseous than usual but I finally feel relieved now that I know baby is okay.
