Hello! Thought I would start an October thread as technically my EDD is 2nd October. Ivf pregnancy so I know very early at 5dp5dt which is equivalent to 10dpo.

Anyone else know they are due in October yet?

Looking for some positivity. Found out I was pregnant 20/2. My last menstrual period was 8/1. Had a scan today expecting to be 7+5 and scan only showed GS and Yolk sac. Estimating me to be around 5/6 weeks. Back for a rescan in 7 days. Has this happened to anyone and they’ve maybe ovulated later than expected?

Due October 2025

@FenellaFurchester thank you for sharing, you’ve given me some hope. I don’t think I ovulate until around day 18

Mattietoes · 04/03/2025 08:43

Sounds like a lot of us are having anxiety-provoking early scans! From what I've read, it's very normal to have a worrying early scan and to go back and find that things have caught up?

I had mine yesterday, estimated to be around 6 weeks and doctor measured me as 5w6d. Could see gestational sac, yolk sac and fetal pole. She said 'there could be a heartbeat but it's quite early' - I thought I could see a flicker on the screen and my husband said he definitely saw it too. On the report she has put 'cardiac activity detected' and has said there is an 'early FH' - I'm guessing fetal heartbeat? But it has made me a bit anxious that she wasn't more definitive whilst actually scanning. Anyway she said everything looked good for this stage and congratulated us as we left, so I know I have to take it as a good outcome. I'll be scanned every 2 weeks which is good.

Meanwhile, symptoms are ramping up - been sick the last three mornings and feel sick pretty much 24/7. Feel sickened by the thought of most foods but also the only thing that relieves the sickness (temporarily) is eating! Ahh.

Going to be a long two weeks until next scan...

FenellaFurchester · 04/03/2025 10:25

@Mattietoes Same with the food 😂 It feels so good going down, then not long after I’m back to sickness (never actually sick but violent gagging)

Its all so tricky in the early stages with scans, sonography is so approximate but as it’s all we’ve got, we hang everything on it.

The most telling thing for me was how detached the nurse and sonographer were until they saw everything was progressing and the heartbeat was there, they suddenly became really friendly and chatty.

They seemed completely unbothered by my subchorionic hematoma so that’s what I’m holding on to.

I’m struggling to get my first midwife appointment booked which seems bizarre. Used the online thing weeks ago, chased with GP, chased with midwife unit, still not heard anything and I’m 8 weeks tomorrow (but 9 by the info they have as I registered before my scans) 🤷🏻‍♀️

Thinking of you today @Figtree11 x

When did anyone receive the date for their nhs 12 week scan? :) I’ve got my first midwife appointment for about 9 weeks, but nothing on scan date yet

Mine came through within a week of registering pregnancy (for when I'll be around 11 weeks). I did this at 4 weeks pregnant.

But have only just had my midwife appt booked last night (for 2 weeks time when I'll be around 8 weeks).

Superscientist · 04/03/2025 12:15

My midwife has always said that if I don't get a date through within a week call her and she will chase it.
I'll be having my booking appointment this week at 10 weeks

Sunshine924 · 04/03/2025 14:20

I haven't organised booking appointment etc yet, was going to then bleeding started. Just going to do next week's scan then see where I am - too scared to think beyond that. Morning sickness and exhaustion started for me now - currently enjoying lunch of crisps and ice lollies 😅 I dont want to read into it though as I know symptoms carrying on doesn't necessarily mean things are ok, but it is hard now very much 'feeling' pregnant

In my second pregnancy last year my midwife booked my booking appointment deliberately after my early scan but sent me my maternity exception certificate there and then for free prescriptions.

This time around she told me to wait until I had been seen by the EPU and to drop her a text with the results. This was last week and she phoned to book my booking appointment for this were.

It might be worth reaching out to get the appointment booked even if it's after the scan. In my losses they have been good at talking to one another and cancelling appointments on my behalf.

I'm feeling not very pregnant at all which is odd. I had awful sickness and fatigue with my miscarriages but feel ok. Occasionally bits of nausea but the xonvea deals with the rest. Fairly energetic, no sensitive boobs. My early scan was ok though and much further along than I would have guessed based on symptoms! The body is weird sometimes!

Sorry to hear that you’re bleeding. Hopefully it isn’t anything sinister. I’ve been eating a lot of crisps too it’s all I can stomach 🙈

Figtree11 · 04/03/2025 17:04

Thanks for the well wishes @CustardCream31
Cant believe it but good news from me for now. Started spotting again this afternoon so thought i was definitely getting bad news. But measuring exactly to what I tracked at 6+6 and saw the heartbeat. Couldn’t see a reason for the spotting. I’ve another scan in 3 weeks time to see how it’s going

@Mattietoes that’s sounding really positive! Hopefully by next scan you’ll see everything as it should be

I'm soooo pleased for you! What a relief. I know the worrying doesn't stop, but I hope it's lessened the panic.

Figtree11 · 04/03/2025 18:00

@CustardCream31 thank you, definitely some relief for now. I am very scared that this happened before & then at 12wks had bad news. But trying to hold onto some hope

emmatcc1 · 04/03/2025 18:23

Anyone else experiencing stitch like pains in the uterus? Have been having that today occasionally I’m 7+4.

squishousdelicious · 04/03/2025 18:53

Great to see it's good news @Figtree11! As it happens, I also went for an early scan today after my spotting didn't stop and I panicked. Think the GP took pity on me so referred me to the EPU and they saw me today, which was nice and quick.

I spent all day telling myself it was going to be bad news again and then burst into tears when she showed me the heartbeat thudding away. She's put me straight onto progesterone too, so hopefully it'll combat the spotting and help me to relax just a bit!

Figtree11 · 04/03/2025 19:39

@squishousdelicious oh that’s great news! It really does go to show how common spotting is. I’m glad you got seen so quickly.
I’m gutted my spotting came back but glad it started before I had the scan today & not after. It’s still giving me anxiety each time I go to the toilet still though

Superscientist · 04/03/2025 19:42

So pleased for you @Figtree11 !

I'm not sure going to the toilet is ever going to be the same again!

Although that's true from when you have a child anyway. No toilet trips can be made in peace 😆

Figtree11 · 04/03/2025 19:44

@Superscientist thank you ☺️

@squishousdelicious this past week if I need the loo in the night, so I don’t have to put the big light on I’ve been using my phone torch to check the toilet paper 🤦🏼‍♀️

MakeMeJuno · 04/03/2025 19:56

Evening ladies - some anxiety today as still no real symptoms to speak of. Maybe slightly tired and hungrier than usual. Just feels so weird to be left in this limbo but going to try not to give in to a scan too early

Hope1986 · 04/03/2025 20:18

@Figtree11 that is such wonderful news, so pleased for you! ❤️

IVFlife · 05/03/2025 05:55

Morning everyone.

I've got my 1st midwife appointment this morning I'm 9+6. And in 2 weeks I've got my 1st NHS scan.

My sickness has really ramped up in week 9. I'm also getting lots of cramp type feelings and lower back achey crampy feeling.

Anyone else finding it hard to eat in evening? That's when I get my sickness the worst. But it's when I need to take my asprin and I don't want to take it without food.

fluffyprawn · 05/03/2025 06:56

@IVFlife good luck, let us know how it goes!

Have you tried meds for the sickness? I went on Xonvea a few days ago and it's just started to work properly. Feels amazing to be able to function again. I asked my GP and she prescribed me straight away as cyclizine doesn't work for me. All the best!

Givemethesun · 05/03/2025 08:48

Gosh waiting for the 12 week scan to arrive feels an eternity doesn’t it 🤞🏼
