Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

@ClaraSolis we waited until 20 week scan to buy anything for our first. I've been looking a bits I know I want this time that I didn't have last time but holding off until 20 weeks

CAM8891 · 30/11/2024 09:00

@ClaraSolis congratulations!

Things like nappies and baby vests I started buying at 16 weeks with my first, just to stock up. Bigger things like prams, car seats etc I waited until 20 weeks. I literally bought so much stuff I didn't need with my first tho so at least I know better for this time 🤣 xx

Madden21 · 30/11/2024 09:07

Morning guys! Just wanted to ask if you guys got a print out of baby's measurements etc at your dating scan? Just realised I didn't get that this time but did with my first almost 4y ago!

inthewest · 30/11/2024 09:08

Hi, I'm new to the thread! I'm 12+6 today and have been given the edd of 10/6.

This is my 4th pregnancy, and first time making it past the 12 week ultrasound with a healthy living baby, so it feels like a huge milestone for us!

I'm really lucky and get an additional ultrasound at 16 weeks, because I think I would go mad if I have to wait until 20! We had scans at 6, 8, 9 and 10 due to my past history. For those of you worrying about being scanned too much, all of these were done by NHS clinics for high risk mums with a history of loss.

Hi everyone, just found this thread Smile I'm due on the 30th of June (according to private early dating scan) so right at the end. Not meeting my midwife until Thursday and scan the same day. I'll only be 10+4 at scan, is that far along enough for them to look for what they're looking for? Glad to have one this side of Christmas regardless Smile

dmb91 · 30/11/2024 10:50

@DramaticFridge I've lived in molke bras since my first pregnancy

No, but usually you have some kind of online portal to access notes. There I saw a pdf with more pictures, including all the measurements etc

Did anyone have trouble with the Badger app? It just says sign up information is incorrect when I put my email and the word my midwife told me.

Hi @purplespink, congratulations! NHS Website says the dating scan can be anywhere between 10 to 14 weeks so 10+4 should be fine! (https://www.nhs.uk/pregnancy/your-pregnancy-care/12-week-scan/) I had mine at what technically should have been 10+6 but I ended up measuring a whole week ahead (and just squeezing me in May but since FTM tend to give birth towards the end of week 40 rather than the start I'm stayung here :) ).

I believe they just use to check the scan that baby is there (and if there's more than 1!), in the right place, developing roughly around the correct pace and has a heartbeat. They then measure the CRL (top of head to bottom of bottom) to give you a more accurate due date.

@codemytea thank youSmile so is it not this scan that detects Down Syndrome/Edwards?

codemytea · 30/11/2024 13:53

Afternoon all,

I had a really sharp stabbing pain yesterday around my bikini line, 10 cm across, making me need to sit down and just concentrate on breathing until it ebbed away a few minutes later. Had the same thing twice again yesterday in the evening, and then once more this morning.

I've had no bleeding etc, but contacted my midwife just in case who said it was too early for ligament pains and just keep an eye on it. I'd feel a lot calmer if I actually knew what was going on!

Has anyone ever experienced something similar? I'm 14+1.

Not sure, I ended up forgoing the NHS stuff and skipped straight to a NIPT for assurance. I think that if you opt in, they measure the nuchal translucency in the scan and formulate some probabilities based on that. I think some places do a combined test where they take some bloods as well, but I don't think they do a NIPT test on the bloods. Sorry I can't be of more help! I hope someone else comes along and can give you some more info.

Madden21 · 30/11/2024 14:04

@purplespink In my trust, the dating is where they look for Down syndrome etc. We have a blood test and they also measure during the scan

CAM8891 · 30/11/2024 14:06

@purplespink it is the scan they check for other things, as well as blood tests.

@codemytea trusty Google tells me ligament pain can happen anytime from 14 weeks but can also happen sooner as well

MittensForKittens123 · 30/11/2024 14:48

The ‘12’ week scan is the one that checks for Down’s syndrome etc. I think all/most hospitals use the combined test, which does a blood test too. It isn’t as accurate as the NIPT though, so if your % risk comes back high they usually offer the NIPT and/or and amino.

HystericalDinosaur · 30/11/2024 17:13

@codemytea I have this and had this with my son too from like ... 10 weeks. It feels the same as round ligament pain. That's what I've always put it down to. Whenever I've asked I've been told it's normal.
It might be officially too early but there's lots of variation.

codemytea · 30/11/2024 17:16

@HystericalDinosaur thats' a relief to hear, it just came out of nowhere and really hurt so obviously panicked me :D

OP posts:
HystericalDinosaur · 30/11/2024 17:32

@codemytea it's so painful isn't it! I find things like getting up too quickly can bring it on - which is exactly like round ligament (and for me feels the same in every trimester) but for me it starts in the first trimester.
I also tend to get lightning crotch from 10 weeks, and a friend of mine did too - but the internet says that doesn't happen until 3rd.

Madden21 · 30/11/2024 17:34

@codemytea my trust uses MyChart but it hasn't been uploaded yet! Scan was on Thursday. I'll pop my midwife a text and see what she says!

Angelselevenx · 30/11/2024 19:10

Had my 12 week scan today and been brought forward a day so now 12+1, all looks well. So relieved 🤍

BertLiv · 30/11/2024 21:20

@Angelselevenx great news!

Has anyone else used, or is anyone using, germolene whilst pregnant? I have a skin issue that I use it on as it’s the only thing that helps, but has a complete panic last night that I shouldn’t be. The pack says it should be fine but to seek medical advice first. Has anyone ever asked a doctor or midwife about it?

SaturnSpark · 02/12/2024 15:37

How’s everyone doing?
I’m now 13w3d and starting to get my energy back, the sickness has also subsided which is nice.

I also encountered my first strange comment from a mutual friend yesterday. They said they could tell I was pregnant because I was “stick thin last year”. 😅 I didn’t really know how to take that!! I told them I’m not showing yet and I’m bloated and they still carried on telling me I’m showing and pointing to my stomach!! People are strange.. 😂

ThisElatedMintDreamer · 02/12/2024 17:17

Hi all,
Finally had my 12 week scan today! They pushed me forward by 4 days so I will be hitting the second trimester on Friday😆
Anyone wish to hazard a guess on boy or girl? I’m thinking boy when looking at skull theory and comparing to dd’s 12 week scan.
Hope you’re all doing well

Had my 12 week scan today, they pushed me back one day so my due date is now 15/06/2025. The little one tried its best to not let them take any measurements 😂
