Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

@BertLiv I heard back from the midwife yesterday, she said to come in to the EPU drop in session (different hospital to last EPU visit). I haven’t been yet as I don’t feel well enough. Not sure whether to go or just wait til dating scan next Thursday. It was just the one spot of red blood, so not sure if it’s worth an extra scan or not (in terms of risks of having lots of scans).

I’ve said to my boss I’ll log on and work this afternoon, but I’m just so tired. Not sure how much is illness and how much is pregnancy. Really looking forward to one we’ve all had the first trimester scans and we can be more open about feeling ill etc!

BertLiv · 27/11/2024 14:23

@MittensForKittens123 sorry you’re still not feeling well. Don’t know what to say about the scan - presumably the midwife knew the risk of an extra scan when she suggested it and so it would be ok, but also for just a spot of blood I see what you mean about whether it’s needed. Difficult decision. Sorry - not helpful!

I can’t wait until we’re all past the dating scans! I think I’ll tell my boss fairly soon afterwards. He knows the situation and has been very good about it and I think will be happy for us. It’s just me and him, so don’t have any other colleagues to tell!

BertLiv · 27/11/2024 14:35

@MittensForKittens123 Sorry - my message was really unhelpful! I hope you manage to make a decision, I’m awful at making decisions!

MittensForKittens123 · 27/11/2024 14:46

@BertLiv not unhelpful, although I’m not sure she should would necessarily know when my dating scan is tbh. Whether I go or not will probably depend on how soon I feel better and how busy I am at work! At the end of the day it’s not like they can actually do anything at this stage…

BertLiv · 27/11/2024 16:47

@MittensForKittens123 True. Well, I hope that you feel better soon and that, whether or not you have the extra scan, your dating scan shows everything as being perfect!

@PlanABC Thanks - I plan to join as soon as I've had my dating scan, so may need to ask for it again then if the link has expired!

HystericalDinosaur · 28/11/2024 10:50

Thanks so much @PlanABC , I've just requested.

Just had my 12 week scan at 12w6 and all looking ok.
Just to reassure people on scans, I've had weekly scans due to recurrent miscarriages throughout this pregnancy. Two different consultants, one who is the head of fetal medicine, have told me it's completely safe. The sonographer today didn't bat an eye lid when I explained I had another scan 6 days ago. Professor Lesley Regan's book 'What Every Woman Needs to Know About Miscarriage ' (she's head of the biggest recurrent miscarriage unit in the UK at St Mary's and does lots of work with Tommy's) also says scans are not harmful. With my first child I was having daily ultrasound scans towards the end of the pregnancy. No one has ever said it's harmful and I've asked a lot.
Hope this brings some reassurance for anyone considering an extra scan. X

NHS scan all okay today! So relieved

codemytea · 28/11/2024 13:28

@HealthyPumpkin great news!

@HystericalDinosaur Glad your scan went well and thanks for the info re scans - I think we might get a few extra, although apparently I’ll be getting them regularly towards the end anyway.

@HealthyPumpkin Excellent news!

MittensForKittens123 · 28/11/2024 21:24

@HystericalDinosaur thanks for the info on extra scans.
I did go in to the EPU today, after the spotting on Tuesday, and everything is looking good. No reason for the spotting apparently. I’m 12 weeks by LMP, and she said within a day by measurements. Have the dating scan on the 5th, so hopefully that all goes well too.

Hi all. New to the thread!
I'm 12+2 based on ovulation dates (tracked) but had my dating scan today and they have put me at 12+6. Has anybody had this?

I had my scan today. Should have been 12 weeks based on my tracked ovulation but was actually 12+3. X

Madden21 · 28/11/2024 22:02

@Chaz693 weird isn't it? It's impossible for me to be any further along but I guess I'll take it haha. I won't get my hopes up for having the baby before 10th June though!

Chaz693 · 28/11/2024 22:12

@Madden21 it is mad. If this one is anything like my last I can bet it will be late. Lol! So moving my due date doesn't really change much I still will add around 2 weeks onto it lol! X

YorkshirePeridot · 29/11/2024 06:35

Congrats to those who've had good scans 😁

I feel like I'm counting the hours to mine next Wednesday. There's a few people I'm really wanting to tell.

DramaticFridge · 29/11/2024 09:01

Hi All -
I need some help! my boobs are insane at the moment and all my bras are just not up to the job! I have tried to find a maternity bra at places like M&S/John Lewis etc but they don't go up to the size that these wangers now are!
does anyone have any recommendations for maternity bras in the HH size region?! at the moment I am living in a bikini top but it is like a cheese grater on my nips!
Thanks in advance and apologies for the "too much information" of this message!

BertLiv · 29/11/2024 09:24

Great news about all those good scans!

@YorkshirePeridot I'm definitely counting down the hours! Seems like ages away, but I'm working on the basis that the weekend will fly by and so it's only 2 days after today!

@DramaticFridge I hadn't looked at bras yet as I'm still currently fitting into mine (just!), but Bravissimo seem to go to HH.

RichTeaCheddars · 29/11/2024 09:25

@DramaticFridge Bravissimo have a good range. You just need any comfortable bra for now, doesn't have to be specifically a maternity one. I have a soft non wired one

DramaticFridge · 29/11/2024 10:18

fabulous :) Thanks @RichTeaCheddars and @BertLiv

my boobies will be very grateful :)

YorkshirePeridot · 29/11/2024 18:00

@DramaticFridge BraStop is a good website to use if you're confident which size you need. Lots of the same brands as bravissimo stock but end of line prices.

ClaraSolis · 29/11/2024 22:28

Hi everyone! New to the thread. 😊
We had our first NHS scan yesterday, it seemed like ages to wait for it! We actually paid for a private dating scan a few weeks ago as we wanted to make sure everything was fine (first baby at 39). Was happy to get this second scan to confirm things were going well so far! Though apparently I was a bit early for my scan, as they put me at 11+6. Blood results have come back with low chance as well, yay!

I wanted to ask, when do people start buying baby items? With all the sales on now, I am tempted to start buying, but I wonder if it's still too early...

MittensForKittens123 · 30/11/2024 07:36

@ClaraSolis welcome! Good news about your scan. I’m also 39, this is my 2nd though. My oldest is 2.

we won’t buy anything for a while yet, but obviously a lot easier for us as we have lots of things already. For my eldest I think we waited until about 20 weeks - I’d definitely made a lot of decisions about what I wanted to buy by that point though!

My biggest buying stuff tip is to think about buying second hand. So much of the baby baby stuff they use for only a few months that you can get it in perfect condition for a 10th of the price. (Obviously follow safe sleeping guidelines and car seat safety guidelines)
