Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

Is anyone else getting a weird tickling in their lower torso from time to time - got two 'tickles' when I had some spicy food over the weekend, and I'm just sat at work and got it again. It's the strangest feeling. It's definitely not trapped wind, and doesn't feel like growing pains, those feel more like cramps to me, I just feel like I'm going mad!

I just thought I’d read back through this thread as didn’t join until later and just wanted to say I 100% felt first baby moving at 10/11 weeks, I don't care if that’s supposedly not possible, it happened! Little flutters that became kicks as the weeks went on ✨ This time I have an anterior placenta and felt absolutely nothing until about 19 weeks which was v unsettling / rubbish in comparison - then no flutters this time straight from nothing to full on whacks!

BertLiv · 19/02/2025 07:50

@jlverity I’m 41, which is know isn’t actually old, but it is in terms of having babies! I guess I’ll wait and ask at my next midwife appointment.

I don’t know what the dread is about, it’s just a weird feeling that appears in my stomach. We were trying for 4.5 years, so it may be that my brain is taking a while to actually believe it’s real!

Hmmm yes according to this you should be offered it over 40 (I’m only just not 40 haha) www.nhs.uk/conditions/gestational-diabetes/

Awwww yes, maybe they’ve decided if you don’t have any other risk factors they don’t need to check but yes worth asking!

And wahh well the dread sounds totally normal considering, but also these hormones pull some weird shit on us, my dreams are getting crazier and crazier!

DramaticFridge · 19/02/2025 08:58

yeah will see what they say at the appointment - I feel fine at the moment and the baby is super active so guess just power on until told otherwise :)

BertLiv · 19/02/2025 10:26

@DramaticFridge I think that's a good plan. I'm going to ask as well, just in case!

@jlverity I think you're right, it's normal and added to by the hormones. These hormones keep giving me giggling fits, and once giggling and sobbing at the same time (after something sad happened on a tv show we were watching), which my husband finds quite bizarre!

Is anyone else getting aching legs at night? I'm lying on my left side, with a pregnancy pillow either side of me and between my legs, and my left leg has started feeling as though I'm getting a cramp and then aching. Usually it's only my left, but sometimes my right. Another thing to ask my midwife I guess!

jlverity · 19/02/2025 10:34

Ooh yes, l was getting leg cramps earlier on and super uncomfortable- I don’t know if this is just placebo effect and nonsense, but I googled it and found magnesium can help - so I’ve been eating pumpkin seeds and almonds every day on my porridge and they have magically disappeared! 😂 I’m sure a supplement would work too lol!

mariiaa · 19/02/2025 11:02

Yes, I've also been getting some leg cramps a few weeks ago. I started to do stretches, eat pumpkin seeds, drink more water, and added some orange juice. Seems to have helped.
Not sure, if it's coincidental or no.

BertLiv · 19/02/2025 11:24

@jlverity @mariiaa Thank you! I have almonds, so I'll try having some this evening and see if it makes any difference!

codemytea · 21/02/2025 15:40

I've been getting leg cramps too while I sleep! Thanks for the pumpkin seed tip, I'll have to give it a try!

I've had my tiredness from first trimester return in full force, feels like tredging through sludge every day and my poor DH cannot seem to understand that I can't just simply wake up 30 minutes earlier for something and I need my full sleep. Really hope it clears up again soon!

Does anyone know / have an idea what position their baby is in? This whole pregnancy my bump has felt huge and uncomfortable compared to the last one and at every scan / midwife appointment they’ve said ‘oh he’s lying across you, here’s a head on one side and here’s a bum on the other’ - and the past couple of days it’s really eased and I have a funny feeling that he’s found his way to be head down! Know they have a long time yet to get there and plenty of room to move around still, but that’s my theory!

BertLiv · 21/02/2025 16:27

@codemytea I tried almonds and that seemed to work, but then the next night I didn't have any and didn't get cramps either - so no idea if they made a difference! Sorry to hear the tiredness is back, hope it does sort it self out soon. I am waking up multiple times a night, but have decided my body is just training me!

@jlverity At my last scan, she said he was lying across me, but I swear my stomach shape changes sometimes, so I think he's moved. The kicks also tend to correspond with him not being lying across me anymore! I guess they still have quite a lot of room to move around in there!

SaturnSparks · 21/02/2025 20:52

He’s definitely lying across me. I got a lovely kick/punch at the same time last night 😂

I didn't have to do one during my last pregnancy (39 years old), but I have one this time. The test will be the day after my 43rd birthday. Not looking forward to it!

DramaticFridge · 24/02/2025 14:45

I have my rearranged midwife apt this wednesday so I am hoping that I get a bit more info then

DramaticFridge · 26/02/2025 12:43

had my appointment this morning - all looking good and listened to a nice strong heartbeat. Was very reassuring when I said " I think the baby is on this side" that I was right and was exactly where he/she was lying,

Got my GD test booked for in a couple of weeks and came out loaded with various appointments and tests. Ante Natal classes booked in and physio referral for the hideous carpal tunnel pain that I have had for the last 10 weeks :(

all in all a productive morning but lots of guilt when came back with 8 more dates to book off of work.

Also re-confirmed that as I am over 40 they will induce me on my due date so I know by June 13th I should have a small person (that's allowing for a 24 hour labour so maybe I need to give myself the target of the 15th in case it is a stubborn bugger! 😂😂)

BertLiv · 28/02/2025 15:15

@DramaticFridge Glad you had a good appointment and all is well - it's such a relief to hear a nice strong heartbeat! I have my appointment on Monday and so am really hoping I have the same! He has been doing a lot of kicking recently, which I love - I can't see how I will ever get tired of it!

I'm going to ask about GD test as no one has mentioned it so far. We have also booked NCT classes for May - a little pricey but we figured it was worth it!

I was also told about how they'll induce right on my due date given my age - and we will basically be having our babies within days of each other as my due date is the 15th. My sister says I should try to push the date they induce, but I'm going to trust the medical professionals (which she is not!).

These itchy rashes I'm getting seem to be spreading over my stomach...so I've now got them on one arm, under my knees and on my stomach. The worst are under my knees as it hurts to wear anything remotely tight, but I work from home and so can get away with loose trousers, so I'm currently thinking I might just grin and bear it (after asking the midwife that is, of course!).

jlverity · 28/02/2025 19:52

Glad to hear it’s all going well ladies! I’d be asking them to push induction too, or at least for some solid science on why it has to be on due date over 40, just feels a bit mean? I don’t think I know anyone whose had even an okay time having an induction, but also I guess risks for baby do increase past due date so totally get it! But at 39 and three quarters I guess I’m lucky to miss this! Can’t believe we’re all approaching third trimester! Also I requested to join the WhatsApp group but didn’t hear back, but they probably thought whose this stranger since I joined the thread so late haha

jlverity · 28/02/2025 19:54

Oh and @BertLiv that sounds horrible about the rashes 😩 I haven’t felt consciously itchy in the day but I have been waking up with scratch marks on my tummy so must be scratching myself in the night!

Hiya - my midwife said that over 40 the placenta stops to function as well so they insist on the induction at the due date to avoid any issues with this

Had a cheeky 4D scan yesterday and am just obsessed at looking at its little face

Proper besotted ❤️

@DramaticFridge Gorgeous photo! And thanks re what you said about why they induce at 40 weeks, I couldn't remember exactly why she said they did!

@jlverity They're quite annoying, but not too bad. I asked the midwife today and she said it just looks like eczema so, from a pregnancy point of view, is nothing to worry about - which is a relief!

We heard the heartbeat again today and all was good - except he apparently didn't like it as he kicked her as soon as she started listening! 😂I have another appointment in 3 weeks, and then every two weeks after that, so no more long waits which will be nice!

jlverity · 03/03/2025 14:35

Ah snap @DramaticFridge , we also went for a cheeky 4D scan yesterday! Ours looks terrifyingly like his older brother, I just can’t get it into my head I’m looking at a different child! And also a disembodied foot lol, so creepy!

Ahhh the foot is weird 😂😂

In practically every scan I have had the baby has been reclining with its arm behind its head like it's just chilling out - but on this one it was grabbing its feet which was so lush to see!

Can't believe how much detail you can see on them! We were comparing it to a photo of my bf when he was a baby and it could be the same baby!
