Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

@SaturnSparks I think I'm noticing a little pattern - he tends to be quite active late morning, around 10am, and then after I've eaten in the evening. But then I also feel him at other times, so maybe that's just when I'm paying most attention! I'm 21+3.

I also get nervous when I don't feel him move for a while, even though the nurse at the hospital said that, as I have an anterior placenta, it would be normal to not feel anything until 24 weeks - so I'm glad I'm feeling anything at all!

PinguGiraffe · 08/02/2025 23:56

Hey everyone! Can't seem to sleep so just thought I'd see how we were all doing?

SaturnSparks · 09/02/2025 15:38

All good thanks! Can feel baby more each day which is nice. I have an anterior placenta so didn’t feel movements earlier on.

Been feeling a little tired, nothing near first trimester though!

jlverity · 09/02/2025 17:49

Yes also all good! Just had a bit of toblerone and baby is going wild 😂 Also anterior placenta and also just so grateful I can feel anything. I’m more tired now than I was in first trimester, I had a very uneventful first trimester though, not even any fun cravings 🤷‍♀️

Crump3tCrav1ngs · 11/02/2025 12:38

Had my Glucose Tolerance Test this morning. I'd forgotten how sickly the drink is but somehow managed to keep it down. I'm keeping everything crossed that I'm all good and no gestational diabetes. If I do have it I should know tomorrow morning.

Baby is so active which is lovely. I can't believe how quickly the second trimester is flying by! I have been sooo hungry and intensely craving weetabix for the past week, to the point I think I could happily eat an entire box if I tried 😂

How long were you at hospital in total for the Glucose Tolerance test? I've got mine in a few weeks and unsure what to expect!

jlverity · 11/02/2025 17:35

Ooh why / when do you have them? I didn’t have one for first baby and don’t know much about them! And yes I am also getting proper whacks now, to the extent sometimes they make me jump haha! Also swear I never had this with first baby, I fear what sort of a beast this one will be!

I was there just over 2 hours. I think they have to be quite on it with the second bloods as it has to be as close to 2 hours after drinking as possible. So as long as you get in quickly for your fasting bloods then 2 hours should be pretty accurate.

@jlverity I have a high BMI and family history of diabetes so that's why I had to have it. As far as I'm aware you are also recommended to have one if you have a previous big baby (10lbs+) or if you are over 40. I also had a high BMI with my last pregnancy which is why I had one then but all came back well then. I think they aim to do it between 24 and 28 weeks. I'm quite nervous for the results but I'm hoping that everything is good.

PinguGiraffe · 11/02/2025 21:00

The Glucose Tolerance test? It's a check for gestational diabetes, my understanding is you only have to have it if you're at a higher risk of developing it, in my case my Dad is diabetic so I'm more likely to develop it. But not everyone needs to be tested

Crump3tCrav1ngs · 12/02/2025 21:14

Midwives said that if the results came back as gestational diabetes they'd be in touch this morning. I've heard nothing and they said no news is good news so I think I'm in the clear 🥳 very relieved as my consultant said they would support an MLU birth as long as there's no complications between now and then. I'll double check at my midwife appointment next week but feeling so much calmer now lol

DramaticFridge · 13/02/2025 13:10

As much as I am enjoying all the movements that I am feeling now and the knowledge that my little munchkin is growing and thriving if it could refrain from kicking me right in the vagina that would be very much appreciated! 😂

I'm so glad it's not just me! lol! I'm like can you just move up please! Or kick anywhere else! X

DramaticFridge · 13/02/2025 13:34

its always when I am talking to someone in work too and I have to hide the fact i've just taken a swift kick to the fanny! 😂😂

BertLiv · 14/02/2025 08:31

Had a bit of a worrying day yesterday as barely felt the little boy move after 10am. I figured I was being paranoid and he’d just turned around, but we went to the hospital just to be safe. We heard his heartbeat (for the first time!), which was nice and strong - huge relief! I can’t wait until his kicks are more in a pattern and more obvious!

DramaticFridge · 14/02/2025 08:34

Oooh that is a stressful day - glad it all worked out ok ❤️

I know what you mean about the pattern - mine makes no sense at all somedays it is crazy and other days I convince myself something is wrong and then have to concentrate/jump about/drink something sweet and sugary to make it jump about!

He was quieter the night before, but then I did feel him move so decided I was just being paranoid. But then when he was so quiet yesterday, I decided it was better to be safe than sorry - and the midwives at the hospital are so lovely and, when we left, said I shouldn't hesitate to come in again if I have any more worries. She found his bottom, so we suspect he's turned around and is kicking in the other direction which is why I'm not feeling it as much.

I might try jumping about or wiggling - maybe I can get him to turn back around! 😂

codemytea · 17/02/2025 20:00

Hey all! I'm also really suffering with sleep - my DH had the amazing idea of rolling up a blanket into a sausage shape and forming that into a 'U' as a diy pregnancy pillow and tbh it has actually really helped - although I think he's resenting the consequences of not being able to cuddle me as much at night!

Baby has really started to kick for me as well and DH has been feeling it for the last few weeks - we had the obligatory baby kicking DH in the face last week. I'm also very happy that I've made it past viability week (week 24) and although obviously the stats aren't great for babies born this young, I like to know that there's a chance.

On that note - I had a horrific dream the other night that DH and I were on holiday somewhere remote and my waters broke - nearest hospital didn't have a NICU and well, you can fill in the rest. I'd like to think that I've been fairly chill so far but the dream has made me really quite anxious! Having lots of bonding time talking to baby and stroking it back when it kicks though.

I also have days here and there where I feel baby slightly less - I had a chat with my midwife and she said that because I have an anterior placenta, and it's still so early on, when baby changes position I may feel it less. She said that by 28 weeks baby should be in a pattern.

Can't believe we're now over half way there!

Omg were going to Lille this week for a couple of days and you’ve just absolutely terrified me 😂 I’ve just googled and were luckily a 12 min drive from a hospital with what looks like a very good / big maternity ward hahahah. Gah, pregnancy is nothing if not a rollercoaster is it!

DramaticFridge · 18/02/2025 12:28

My mum has diabetes and I am old and overweight so I am pretty sure I will need to be tested for the GD with the horrible drink!

any idea roughly when that happens? My midwife appointment was meant to be tomorrow but they have pushed it back two weeks which is frustrating cause I have been using these appointments as milestones to reach and now it has moved I feel like I have gone backwards! :(

On the upside I did email HR today to officially notify work I was pregnant so that is exciting!

BertLiv · 18/02/2025 16:39

@DramaticFridge I'm sorry your appointment was pushed back - how annoying! Which one was this supposed to be? I have my next midwife appointment at the beginning of March which seems like ages away. Congrats on making it official at work - very exciting!

No one has even mentioned a GD test to me, which is slightly surprising as I am old too - so I can't shed any light on that I'm afraid!

I'm feeling quite exhausted at the moment and keep getting this feeling of dread/anxiety/nervousness in my stomach, not for very long, but quite often. I guess it's natural as it's my first baby.... quite disconcerting though, and unexpected as I've wanted this for so long!

Stef92 · 18/02/2025 20:53

@DramaticFridge I have been invited for my GD test next week, when I am 24 weeks, I have to fast from 10pm the night before until they give me something in the hospital at my appointment the next day. I am expected to stay in the hospital for around 3 hours. If you're expecting this test I would get in touch asap

DramaticFridge · 18/02/2025 20:56

I have no idea what week it was meant to be in but I am nearly 24 weeks now

I had really bad anxiety but now I feel baby moving more and more each day it has eased that

Xx

DramaticFridge · 18/02/2025 20:57

I think I'm gunna have to contact them and see why they say - it might be that they don't think in a risk but they mentioned it at my very first appointment so I've been expecting it

jlverity · 18/02/2025 20:58

@DramaticFridge how old is old? I think they offer it over 40, or possibly not even? I think the standard check with no risk factors for everyone is at 28 weeks bloods.

Re the dread, I’d say this is totally normal, even more so if you’ve been waiting a long time/ wanted this a long time! Do you know what it relates to? Giving birth or the baby itself? Or neither of those? It’s all pretty dread-worthy stuff really! As a second timer though it’s also completely amazing ❤️❤️
