Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

Oh yes @38startingagain exact same! After my 16 week appointment I basically hugely spiralled for 3 weeks up until now, when I’m finally feeling first movements. But this bit does feel almost worse than the first 12 weeks, like a total leap of faith that your symptoms are all gone but you can’t feel kicks yet or really have much of a bump (although second baby here I’ve had a bump since about 11 weeks and swear lol). Try to hang in there, knowing it will pass soon, but also if you do need more reassurance just call your midwife, mine was very happy to do an extra heartbeat check for me this week which has really helped.

Thank you glad I’m not the only one feeling not pregnant 😂 I have midwife today but don’t think they listen to heartbeat yet in my area 😒 defo have a bump forming unless it’s just extra weight I’m piling on 🤣 just want to get to my 20 week scan now.

Oh don’t they? This seems so ridiculous/ unfair to me, I asked my midwife about it at 16 weeks and she said in her 20 years she’s only ever not managed to find a heartbeat at 16 weeks once, and that all turned out to be fine!

LS888 · 09/01/2025 13:52

I’m 15+4 as not due until the end of June. Hearing about the movement everyone else seems to be feeling is great but makes me nervous as I haven’t felt anything yet. I don’t think I had by 16 weeks with my first either. They did listen to heartbeat for my first at the 16 week appointment so hopefully they will do the same again. My appointment is not for another week though.

Madden21 · 09/01/2025 14:26

@LS888 I'm 19 weeks and haven't felt anything. It's also my second baby so try not to worry too much. I do have an anterior placenta though so I know that'll be why I haven't felt them yet. I didn't feel anything with my first until 23/24 weeks. Also had an anterior placenta then!

AmberM223 · 09/01/2025 14:44

Hey everyone, i’m 17 weeks on Sunday and just had my 16 week midwife apt today. I have Hypermersis so not been smooth sailing so far but on meds so hopefully we will find a way through.
I am desperate to feel some movement - i find this stage awful like the limbo of waiting for a proper ‘bump’ and all the kicks! This is my 2nd baby.
Wish everyone well🤍

LS888 · 09/01/2025 16:17

@AmberM223 and @Madden21 yes second time around for me too. I just hate waiting in limbo 🤣 I know it’s still early I’m just impatient!

@AmberM223 hope your sickness is manageable with the meds. My friend had it throughout and it was awful for her. I still have some sicky days but not as bad now for sure. Thinking of you though.

codemytea · 10/01/2025 15:34

Hi all, had my 20 week scan yesterday. Everything is thankfully going on perfectly in there and there's no concerns. After all my worrying leading up to it I feel a bit numb today about everything baby-wise (although I've been all over with my emotions over the last few months so nothing out of the ordinary really!).

They did a brief 4d bit which I wasn't expecting so I am now too a proud mama to a copper potato :D

@jlverity @Missy1213 I have an anterior placenta too. Nothing I can confirm/deny is movement yet as this is my first.

@AmberM223 I feel exactly the same, the second trimester in general just seems to be this awful limbo of not 'really' being pregnant. Sorry to hear about your HG, fingers crossed that the meds help!

@codemytea congratulations on your scan! Love the copper potato 🤣

SaturnSparks · 10/01/2025 20:01

@codemytea congratulations!! Great news :)

Crump3tCrav1ngs · 11/01/2025 20:50

I'm 19+5 with an anterior placenta and think I may be starting to feel a little movement which is so exciting. No noticeable bump yet (second baby but higher BMI), my symptoms have vanished and my 20 week scan isn't until I'm 21+4 so I've not felt pregnant at all these past few weeks. Finally these flutters make me think there must be something going on in there somewhere 😂

We had an early gender scan at 16 weeks as a Christmas present from my mum. We're having a girl!! 🩷 (which is great news as my Mil has been stashing our pink silver cross under her stairs for the past 6 years lol)

BertLiv · 11/01/2025 21:41

I’m having a little panic - we’ve just had steak for supper and mine was medium rare and so pink, and I didn’t even think about the fact that I shouldn’t be eating pink meat. I’ve been so careful with what I’ve been eating! Not sure what to do now!

Missy1213 · 11/01/2025 22:46

So glad to hear there’s a few with anterior placenta, I’m sure I’ve felt movements but it’s not often or regular yet.
My bump is coming along now which worries me that I’ll have gestational diabetes again and maybe baby starting to grow a little on the big side. Won’t know till my 20 week scan.

Poor thing gets elbowed on a daily basis too from my 1 year old, so hopefully he’s okay in there 🤣

Don’t panic at all it’s totally fine. At this stage in pregnancy even if you were to get ill (hugely unlikely from a medium rare steak) it’s not as dangerous to baby in any event. Worth avoiding food on listeria/food safety recall announcements and also washing fruit and veg but I’ve pretty much eaten what I want this pregnancy. Emily Oster has a really good chapter on this in her book Expecting Better.

BertLiv · 11/01/2025 23:47

@Hrf1503 Thank you 🙏🏻. Out of interest, is it more dangerous earlier on or later?

I have been being so careful, but for some reason just didn’t think of that one! Very silly of me. I’ll be over cautious about it now - but that can’t hurt! Thank you for the book recommendation, I’m going to get it and read it!

@codemytea congrats on the scan - the pics are brilliant!

@Crump3tCrav1ngs Exciting that you’re feeling flutters! It must be amazing! I haven’t felt anything yet, but 18 weeks tomorrow, so still early.

jlverity · 12/01/2025 08:42

Ahhh @Crump3tCrav1ngs congrats! Same on all fronts here except another boy - I was desperate for a girl this time and bit sad I now won’t be a girl mum! (Second baby most certainly not having any more haha).

And @BertLiv I’ve just realised I ate medium rare steak on New Year’s Eve and didn’t think about it at all haha! Im pretty sure in some other countries (France lol) they think we’re completely insane for all of this and your chances of listeriosis are really so, so small.

And @codemytea love the copper potato hahah and congrats that all is well, we got a 4D at early gender scan but it is just so so creepy I’ve barely looked at it haha. Who knew the NHS do this now though? That’s fun!

DramaticFridge · 13/01/2025 11:47

Anyone else really feeling the stress of the gap between the 12 and 20 week scans? have booked in another private one tonight because the joys of the 2nd trimester and the lifting of symptoms now makes me believe that I have made it all up in my head! 😂😂🙈🙈

gingertigercat · 13/01/2025 13:27

For the people experiencing flutters, how regularly did you feel them at first?? If it changed and got more regular/stronger how long did it take??

jlverity · 13/01/2025 13:40

@gingertigercat i don’t have a good answer except definitely don’t worry about it yet, especially if it’s your first! Don’t they say as long as you feel anything by 24 weeks it’s normal?

But I came here to ask a totally non important question, what are you all drinking for fun lol? I’ve been working my way through the non alcoholic booze options but starting to find it all a bit depressing and just wondered if anything beyond decaf tea and coffee is really doing it for you?

gingertigercat · 13/01/2025 14:49

@jlverity thank you!

On the fun drinks, nothing ground breaking! I quite like alcohol free red wine, and same for 0.0 gin and tonic. I've also heard good things about alcohol free rum. I am sick of nosecco though and apart from the guiness option, can't stomach any more alcohol free beer.

BertLiv · 13/01/2025 16:51

@jlverity Thank you - good to know I'm not the only one! I've felt fine since eating it, so I think I'm all good. But I will now remember to ask for anything to be well done if we go out!

@DramaticFridge I definitely am. I'm finding it very disconcerting that I'm not feeling anything and my main symptoms have pretty much vanished (although not completely, still get sore, huge boobs and nausea occasionally). I also had my first experience of 'lightning crotch' the other day, which was less than pleasant, but I guess is a good sign. But I am counting down the days (2 weeks and 2 days!) until our next scan, when I am praying everything will be ok and I can breathe a sigh of relief!

BertLiv · 13/01/2025 16:53

@gingertigercat re the fun drinks - over Christmas and New Year, I stuck to non-alcoholic wine and nozecco, but other than that (very boringly) I tend to have water at home or lemonade. I did have fizzy elderflower at one christmas party, which was good though - might be worth a try!

It's so tricky! And I know deep down everything is probably fine but my brain just starts to plan out all the worst case scenarios!!! 😢😢😢

Mines on the 29th and it just feels an age away!

If I go to a pub then I get a red J20 in a tall glass with lots of ice and a top up of lemonade! Tastes a bit cocktail-ish and feels like a treat!

Either that or pineapple juice and lemonade

But at home lots of squash and water

I usually live on Diet Coke so I'm finding that difficult to give up! Don't find that the caffeine free stuff hits the same spot!

Gah, I feel you, I am basically living on decaf tea and coffee and non alcoholic beer (having drunk probably too much of all of the real versions for years haha), but they just don’t touch the same spot. I’ve drunk more peppermint tea than I could’ve ever dreamed of and find most other herbal tea just a bit of a let down - why do they never taste as good as they smell? Elderflower could be a great shout though I shall get stuck into some cordial!
