Hi all, just wanted to start a new thread to use once the old one fills up. I'm due 03/06/2025 and currently 11 weeks exactly. Looking forward to first trimester being over! Has everyone booked in their booking appointments yet/got dates for the 12 week scan?

Here's a link to the old thread for book keeping: https://www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5171110-due-june-2025

@SaturnSparks I don’t think it is offered to everyone. In my first pregnancy I was offered it as at the time I was very overweight and my family are black African. This time around, the midwife told me at my booking appointment that I would still be offered it as although I am now a healthy bmi, black African is considered a high risk factor.
That being said, I do have a friend who was offered it with no risk factors but she was under the care of a different hospital so maybe different hospitals have different policies?

SaturnSparks · 05/01/2025 18:44

@ThisElatedMintDreamer Thank you, that’s good to know! I was a little confused about it and all the tests, but realising this entire journey is a learning curve haha

MittensForKittens123 · 05/01/2025 21:14

@SaturnSparks with my first son I didn’t get offered it at all. I’m under a different hospital with this pregnancy and they test everyone with the non fasting test, and the fasting test if you have risk factors. My son was born quite large, so I may have actually had GD with him, but obviously impossible to know now. But because of this I’ll be doing the fasting test at 28 weeks.

jlverity · 05/01/2025 21:42

@SaturnSparks my understanding is if you have no risk factors (overweight BMI, certain ethnicities etc, previous GD pregnancy), they don’t do anything before 28 week bloods, which do check your blood sugar levels. If those come back normal you won’t know anything about it, but if they come back high they do the glucose test then.

(I don’t actually remember where I read this though!)

I had a early scan doctors think I'm 4.5/5 weeks pregnant but my pregnancy app is saying I'm 6 weeks pregnant from my last period so does this scan look normal for that as I'm worrying now I have another scan on the 13th Jan to see how it's developing

Hi all, hope you're all doing well!

I've got my 20 week scan booked on the 9th (so Thursday this week) and I am, predictably, worrying to excess about it. Hopefully all goes well!

I've started to get a little bump which even now is getting unwieldy - my DH and I are big cuddlers overnight and I keep being woken when my bump is the first thing to touch him instead of the rest of my body as usual. I'm also a big front sleeper in the one leg bent one leg straight position which I hoped would keep my hips angled enough that it doesn't interfere with my bump but that was obviously wishful thinking!

TMI but I now also constantly need to pee - even immediately after I get off the loo. I recon it's starting to push down on my bladder constantly giving me the sensation of needing to go - once again something I thought would only start later down the line!

Round ligament pain is also a nightmare - I go through days where it's just streatching and hurting the entire time. I'm then rewarded the next morning by my belly button lying almost flat :(

On the positive side at least I've been feeling some tickles internally for weeks now and those still haven't gone away so maybe they are the baby kicking? They are definite almost 'taps' on the inside, and cluster themselves in spaces of 5 mins before settling down for a few hours. Happens about twice a day, I don't notice it while I sleep, but who knows to be honest :D If I'm lucky I'll get a tickle while I'm having the 20 week scan and then that can confirm or deny.

Pregnancy aside, DH and I have been looking to buy our forever home since we found out and things finally seem to be going somewhere. I was reaching the end of my tether after months of frantic searching and back and forth emails.

@jlverity welcome! I'm due 30th May (was originally due 6th June based on my cycle but was revised a whole week down in my dating scan) so feel free to keep lurking on here. I think there's a few more of us due in early June. When is your 20 week scan?

@DramaticFridge We only told family over Christmas and sometimes I would mention baby and was convinced that I would be met with blank stares - I even get the same sometimes when talking to DH but only every so often. I'm also convinced that I'm making everything up, even though my body externally is starting to say otherwise!

@SaturnSparks Sorry to hear you locked yourself out! My latest strange symptom is being nauseous and refluxy again, thought I'd left that behind in the first trimester. I'm also bruising really easily when I usually don't really bruise at all.

When do you all have your 20 week scans booked for? Will you all be finding out the gender then?

@varay This thread is for people due in June 2025 (ie between 16-20 weeks pregnant right now) so I'm not sure we're the right place to go for advise. To get more responses by people that can help you should create your own thread or post this on the due September 2025 thread (www.mumsnet.com/talk/pregnancy/5236494-september-2025-babies) where there should be more people doing through similar experiences. I hope you manage to get help and good luck for your next scan on the 13th!

I feel your pain ref needing to wee all the time @codemytea - Feel like I'm never out of there! and when I need to go I am running there!!

Sleeping is causing me a big issue - I keep getting numb shoulders where I am side sleeping and not used to it which then leads to me waking up in the middle of the night with pins and needles in my arms and wrists.

I think I am a week or two behind you as my 20 week scan isn't until the 29th - I think I am feeling the baby but I have no idea!

codemytea · 06/01/2025 12:55

@DramaticFridge I'm getting the numbness too! I'm hoping sleep quality doesn't keep going downhill as I tend to get quite grouchy when I haven't had an uninterupted nights sleep and I was at least hoping for a few more months of peace and quiet :(

OP posts:
DramaticFridge · 06/01/2025 12:57

My sleeping is awful at the moment! I will sleep for two hours and then be awake for three!

My hormones have gone through the roof - I cried for 20 minutes yesterday because Rik Mayal is Dead ........he died in 2014 ..... and I knew he was dead!! 🤣🤣🤣

I didn't have a scan until 6 weeks so I'm not sure what a scan that early would look like / is supposed to look like.

I know that before 6 weeks it is usual to not pick anything up on the scan at all so hopefully you will see more on the 13th when you have your re-scan 😀

Good luck xx

iridescentbloom · 06/01/2025 14:32

Hi ladies, my 20 week scan is in two weeks, I'll be almost 21 weeks!

Felt lots of tiny little movements, I love it! Also started buying some of the bigger purchases - travel system, breast pump, next to me crib. I'm usually very organised anyway but I've been told baby could come early so trying to get ahead!

xMrsxHx87x · 06/01/2025 15:21

I'll be 18 weeks tomorrow, first pregnancy. Scan is 2 weeks in Friday and I'm desperate to get it out the way so I can see everything is OK. I think only then I'll start feeling confident to begin planning for the baby!

@iridescentbloom what do your movements feel like? I'm still not sure if what I'm feeling is baby or gas 😂 I was certain last night I kept feeling a little prodding sensation in the same place, but having not been pregnant before I'm just not sure!

iridescentbloom · 06/01/2025 15:43

@xMrsxHx87x like little taps, twinges, occasional flutters! Always in the same area, around an inch or 2 under my belly button. I even felt a kick on the outside last night! I was lay with my hand on my belly and felt a little prod on my hand.

jlverity · 06/01/2025 20:27

@codemytea Thanks for the welcome! Ah my due date by period would be 5th June but this baby seems to gain a few days every time someone looks at it. My 20 week scan is next Weds 15th, I’m sooo nervous about it, don’t really feel I’ll be able to relax until after that…

codemytea · 06/01/2025 20:58

@jlverity I know what you mean, ours gained 3 days when we had a 7 week scan (I had shoulder pains and the hospital was worried it was ectopic), and then proceeded to gain an entire 4 days again for the 12 week scan. DH and I joke that we'll go to our 20 week scan and they'll tell us we're due next week!

Agree about not being able to relax until the 20 week scan is over. I feel like I'll properly relax if everything is alright on the 20 week scan and I pass 24 weeks on the 7th of Feb because at least then it's a chance, however small. But I know I'm kidding myself, after I get to 24 weeks I'll want to get to 28 weeks for a better chance, then 32 weeks, then 36, then I'll be worrying about issues that can happen during delivery...

[Don't read if you don't want to read distressing birth stories]
To be fair, I once wanted to be a midwife and went for a few days work experience in the NICU when I was 16 - they sent me down to L&D so I could watch a birth happy that they were getting me out of the intense environment of the NICU, only for the person I was assigned to to be a 42 weeker that needed all sorts of interventions, and then her poor child ended up swollowing meconium out of distress and didn't make the night... I think it's worried me for life now!
[Distressing birth story ends]

I can only wish I could be like my MIL - apparently she told everyone at 4 weeks completely unaware of the miscarriage risks in the 1st trimester, and then happily went to all her scans without ever realising something could go wrong! It takes different people I guess :(

jlverity · 06/01/2025 21:03

@codemytea Yeah I had a very happy and worry free first pregnancy the first time, but I’m now 6 years older and wiser and know all the horror stories of those around me, plus a miscarriage right before this one, has just made it a whole different ballgame…I keep thinking, surely I will relax into this soon…I do still hope I will!

codemytea · 06/01/2025 21:08

@jlverity sending best wishes your way - I guess the best we can do is sit and hope, it's all out of our hands which I think is the hardest bit!

Hi everyone hope all is well and good luck with those approaching their 20 week scans , I have mine on the 28th Jan. I feel completely normal again like pre pregnant normal apart from eating more , not sure if I’ve felt baby move yet but I do carry extra weight around belly area so not sure that would affect feeling movements. I had a private gender scan last week got to hear the heartbeat and ….. it’s a boy 💙 xx

And me! Also had a early gender scan, 20 week scan is next Weds eeek - but I did pop into midwife for a heartbeat check yest and she even complimented me on my womb growth (lol), so feel less worried than I did!

SaturnSparks · 08/01/2025 19:31

How’s everyone doing with movements?

I’m 18+6 and for the past week I’ve felt only what I can describe as a tiny tickle-like feeling at random times, no pattern to it. It’s very subtle but enough for me to feel like I need to scratch an itch inside. Hard to describe but wouldn’t say it feels like a flutter, so I’m not sure if this is the baby haha!

Missy1213 · 09/01/2025 01:27

Hi all,

Congratulations to everyone! And wishing luck to all 20 week scans which are coming up,

Have some questions…

Wondering if anyone is using Badgernotes (pregnancy notes app) instead of the usual yellow book? If so how are you getting in with it?

This is my 3rd pregnancy, we had private gender scan end of December and found we’re having a baby boy.
The sonographer mentioned that I have an anterior placenta, so expected not feel movements yet. - although I’ve felt some movements I can’t help but feel disappointed by this, as I’ll be later feeling regular movements. Has anyone else had or have an anterior placenta? And when did you feel movements?

jlverity · 09/01/2025 07:53

Yes I have an anterior placenta too! Second pregnancy and felt my son soooo much earlier than this I’ve found it really stressful! I’m 19 and a bit weeks and have just started to feel what I’m pretty sure is movement, but it’s nothing like the flutterings last time, it’s definitely cushioned so I can only feel bigger movements I think, like jabs or when they fully crash into it haha….i almost find it easier to feel them from the outside than the inside too - like with my hand on the outside I can feel the movement better / be more sure what it is…

BertLiv · 09/01/2025 09:31

@38startingagain Great photos and congrats on finding out it's a boy!

I'm 17+4 today and my 20 week scan is on 29th, so still just under 3 weeks away - it feel like ages to wait! My morning nausea has pretty much disappeared (provided I eat regularly!), my boobs are less sore and I'm feeling quite normal, which is disconcerting. I had my 16 week midwife appointment on Monday, and she didn't seem concerned, but I do wish I was feeling flutters or something. I have a little bump, but only something me or my husband would notice, as to most people it would just look natural or like I'd had too much food. I guess it's all normal at this stage, but I'm hoping I start to feel things over the next couple of weeks.
