Boyfriend doesn't want to have baby

Hi, I am 23 and already have an 11 month old. My partner knew i wasn't on the pill and we have been having sex unprotected - lo and behold i done a test today and it was positive. He doesn't want to keep the baby, won't even sit down and talk about it just straight away said "do another test then we will google on what's the next steps to get rid" but i don't want to get rid. I have always wanted kids young and i am kind of against abortion... (please don't hate me for that). We have a house together but not sure what to do, leave him and keep the baby and get my own place and be a single mom or get rid like he wants?

Always work to distance oneself physically from a man who does not want a baby, did not protect himself and has high or low key suggested abortion.
I'd go as far as not even pushing for financial support.
There are too many bitcharsed men out here and the phenomena is not getting better with the younger generation of them.
Better a struggling single mother than a dead one.

Absolutely agree with @Edenmum2

We both knew the consequences, including HIM. I have not been irresponsible, he has by knowing what his actions can cause but then not want the outcome..

You have both been irresponsible in having unprotected sex without discussing the likely consequences, and what would happen if you conceived. Even people who were clear that they both wanted another child would be likely to discuss the timeline for this, as you still have a baby under one, and to consider the consequences for your body of two pregnancies close together, and the financial implication of having two children in childcare.

QueSyrahSyrah · 10/11/2024 11:16

It's the 11 month old I feel sorry for. Mum and Dad splitting up purely because neither of them could take proper responsibility for contraception.

Of course he should have sorted condoms if he didn't want another baby, but by continuing to have unprotected sex with a Man that you knew didn't want another baby you're not much better. What did you expect to happen?

You’ve both been incredibly irresponsible.

People like you i don't need on here, i've asked on what to do and what others would do in this situation, not to be told i've been irresponsible! 👋🏼

He should have made the effort to not make one if he didn't want it.

He has been utterly selfish to do this and then expect you to be ok on what he wants you to do about it.

You are the one that will have to deal with physical and emotional effects if you do what he wants. Dont let him decide for you.

I would be assuming the relationship was over now, tbh.

If you have the baby, can you fund your accommodation/bills and nursery for two children on your salary (assuming you’d get some maintenance from him-find out what that would be)? The answer to that question would be influencing my decision about keeping the baby. Even with the partially funded hours that have come in, nursery costs for two can be eye-wateringly expensive.

I know it's my body, my decision. But he said if i keep it i'm trapping him so he's leaving me with no choice but to get rid to be honest..

How are you trapping him with this pregnancy when he already has a child with you? Is he a bit thick?

maybe, i think i'm just going to have to get rid to be honest. he's really not liking it.

You've been trying to get pregnant. You took a chance because you want kids young, at least own that. He enjoyed the bare back sex. You have both been irresponsible.

Either way your relationship is probably over. You'll resent an abortion and he'll resent you keeping it.

MrsSkylerWhite · 10/11/2024 11:21

Whatever you decide, get rid is a pretty revolting phrase.

In my opinion, you should keep the baby and get rid of him.
The things he's saying trying to emotionally black mail you to get his own way.
He will not leave you if you keep it.

Right let me put this out here for all you who are getting confused, financially i will be okay, housing wise i will be ok?? So i've got nothing to lose other than my partner... I am closing this post now because people are starting to become rude and nasty towards me. I didn't want this at all.

I have 3.
That were wanted, in a stable loving home and raised with their best interests at the fore front of every decision.

I'm just sick of seeing child after child with countless ACEs and parents who can't think straight screwing them up.
