Hi both!
@JamTartLover glad you are doing well, exciting that work are advertising for cover. Like you said that makes it feel more real!!
@CSSL7 also glad you’re ok! omg the restless leg syndrome is awful isn’t it, mine is from about 8pm every night I just cannot sit still. I’ve heard magnesium spray helps so have been trying that but it makes me really itchy. We actually are having a 4D scan tomorrow, I am so excited. It’s our first private scan but I just can’t wait another 13 weeks until she’s here to see her face. Increased movements is wild like you said, I didn’t even know that was a thing!
Have either of you started your hospital bag yet?

I haven’t started my bag yet but I must!! i need to do a list at least! I might do it this week actually! Eeeek! It’s getting so so real!!!

Hi both, it really is getting real! Entering third trimester this week means it’s just around the corner now. I need to do my hospital bag too & we still have so much to buy and sort at home! Feel a bit overwhelmed. But seeing her in 4D yesterday was incredible, she’s so cute 🥰

JamTartLover · 02/04/2025 19:00

@moneyworrier123 how lovely! I'm sure it was a great experience!

@CSSL7 it's definitely starting to feel more real!

I've gotten so much bigger too. My stomach is much more noticeable now. I don't even need my baby on board badge 😅

It's definitely overwhelming to think about how much needs to be done but so exciting!

Oh yes I’m massive now, people who don’t know are no longer afraid to ask me questions about when my baby is due 😂😂

I know the feeling! People at work will ask about the due date without even asking if I'm pregnant😂

Nope2024 · 03/04/2025 18:50

Hi everyone, I'm very late to the party but found pregnancy a bit lonely lately so thought I'd join in! I'm due third week of June 😬

Are any of you taking vitamins still? I want to change from Pregnacare but not sure what to try.

Baby gave us the runaround last week and last night with reduced movements so booked in for scan tomorrow to see how things are going. Baby was fine each time we went in, moved as soon as we were hooked up to the monitor. Actually can't keep still today. 😂 I know it's a good thing but it's actually doing my head in a bit because I was so worried last night over nothing and now I'm knackered and feel like an idiot.

I've booked my maternity leave for my due date (all the babies in my family are late) but have a sinking feeling I'll be the one to buck the trend -- my DH is always early for everything so bound to have rubbed off on his child. 🫣

Hi @Nope2024 welcome! I hope your scan today goes well, they do like to worry us don’t they!
Regarding vitamins, I have been so rubbish at taking them since 12 weeks. I remember probably twice a week to take them and it is pregnacare I have. I have recently started an iron supplement as was hearing my heartbeat in my ears and midwife said it could be low iron. I think I’m having bloods on Monday.
I don’t blame you for working up to your due date based on your family experiences! I am finishing 2 weeks before although I am already so mentally switched off from work.

JamTartLover · 05/04/2025 08:14

@Nope2024 Welcome and congrats! It is always worrying when there is reduced movement so no need to be embarrassed at all at getting checked out!

I had some reduced movement a couple of weeks ago and they confirmed everything was fine and then I felt movement afterwards!

I'm also taking pregnacare, I haven't looked into any other vitamins.

Have you found out the gender or are you keeping it a surprise (if you don't mind me asking!)

Nope2024 · 05/04/2025 08:46

@JamTartLover Thank you 😊 We did ask, but sonographer wasn't very certain so we'll wait and see. 😂 Baby was being very shy in the scan! Suppose we could have asked in reduced movements scan yesterday but completely forgot tbh. I wanted it to be a surprise but DH wanted to know. So I feel a bit smug 😏

We painted the spare room (which will become nursery) a sort of bright turquoise blue a couple of years ago before TTC so they'll be having a blue room regardless!

Do you know if you're having a girl or a boy?

CSSL7 · 05/04/2025 12:17

I haven’t been good at pregnancy vitamins for months honestly. Do you think we should take them in third trimester?

i also have severely low iron and am on tablets now. No wonder I was so poorly and exhausted though. Trying to eat red meat and greens too to help.

we have a 4d today too! Eeeeek.

I don’t even know what to put in my hospital bag 😭

JamTartLover · 05/04/2025 20:45

@Nope2024 we are having a girl💕

My husband and I couldn't wait to find out, although I really respect the patience of people who wait to find out!

Tbh, until children are old enough to talk, I think any colour room is fine😂

@CSSL7 good luck for your 4D scan! Hopefully your iron levels increase soon so you feel better! I've been taking my vitamins throughout my pregnancy.

I can't believe we are in our third trimester now, it's so exciting but nerve racking at the same time!

Moneyworrier123 · 20/04/2025 22:04

Hi everyone! How are we all doing?
I am torn between feeling like I have ages left and no time at all. We are nearly there with the nursery but still some bits to buy (she currently has nowhere to sleep!)
In terms of me, I’ve got low iron so have started on iron tablets which have already blocked me up (tmi sorry!) so that’s frustrating. I’m feeling big and uncomfortable too and feel like that’ll only get worse. But, I’m very excited to meet baby girl (who is so wriggly and kicks me so hard now!).
Hope you are all ok x

JamTartLover · 21/04/2025 09:45

@moneyworrier123 It does feel like ages and a short amount of time at once! We are so excited to meet her💕

We have finally started to buy things now. I've bought a next to me crib (the Chicco one) and bought some clothes, towel, blankets etc.

We still haven't bought the pram or car seat yet but I am waiting to check whether the car seat fits in our current car so hopefully will buy that soon too.

My baby has been really wriggly too, I love seeing the movements from outside my stomach, although it's a very strange sensation!

Has anyone started planning when they will take their maternity leave?

narwhalsarereal · 21/04/2025 10:41

I’ve got about 7 weeks left as I’m being induced at 38 weeks.

packed the hospital bags yesterday, just need some juice & snacks to go in mine.
baby girls wardrobe is washed and ready, car seat in the car, just need the cot & Moses basket that my mums looking after.

My maternity leave is starting May 23rd as it’s half term and I work in a school, so not long now

You sound very organised!

I'm getting my hospital bag ready this week. I just need to get some good comfortable PJs and nursing bras.

Nope2024 · 22/04/2025 13:05

I've been stressing a bit about the hospital bag (mental considering we still need to sort something for baby to actually sleep in 🫠). I don't usually buy a lot of stuff for myself when it comes it personal care - I tend to use period pants etc, so thought of getting loads of disposable stuff like nappies and maternity pads and toiletries and stuff is stressing me out a bit. I know I need things to be convenient though so trying not to think about all the waste. 🥲 We bought some nappies yesterday and I really don't have the heart to think about how much landfill it's creating.

Also stressing about bras. My boobs haven't grown AT ALL and I've just been living in lounging bralets (the ones that look like low-impact sports bras) for about 20 weeks because my rib cage got massive. I have no idea what size nursing bras to buy and worried they'll be the wrong size by the time I need them. 🤯 Find shopping so depressing that seriously considering just going full Charlie Dimmock until I'm done breastfeeding.

Baby's been wriggly recently but today a little quiet so bracing for another trip to hospital tonight for reduced movements 🙄

Moneyworrier123 · 22/04/2025 13:56

Hi @JamTartLover glad to hear you’re well! Buying things is so exciting although the cost keeps adding up. My maternity leave doesn’t start until middle of June at the moment but I am really regretting it. I feel like they’re working me to the bone and I’m a little on edge every day. Considering bringing my leave forwards to end of May but then I’m missing two weeks with baby girl so can’t decide!
@Nope2024 it’s good to meet you and congratulations on your little one. Always good to get reduced movements checked on, we had to go last week but all was fine in the end and they’d rather see you than not. I know what you mean about creating landfill, there might be reusable products out there suitable for post natal? And have you considered reusable baby nappies? We have decided against them but they could be worth looking at.
For nursing bras I tried some on in m&s yesterday, they do them in ‘small, medium, large’ etc and I just got some that felt kind of roomy still but fitted ok and it was £20 for two. Then I’ll go for a proper fitting at some point after the baby is born. I have also just been wearing comfy crop tops since finding out I’m pregnant but I do have quite small boobs anyway so it’s not been an issue.

Nope2024 · 22/04/2025 15:09

@Moneyworrier123 Oooh, thanks for the M&S recommendation! I'll take a look. Find shopping for myself quite stressful, I have to keep reminding myself this is self-inflicted! 😂

I looked into reusable nappies but just can't see us sticking to it if we're knackered. I'm also quite squeamish when it comes to poo (I know, I know - I'm going to have to get over this). My DH already finds the thought of period pants gross so don't think he's really ready to commit tbh. Maybe will try to persuade him after a few months...

I've just been looking into maternity pads to tide me over until I can shift back to my usual period pants - having a job to work out how many I really need for the bag! I figured I'd use pads for a few weeks and try not to overthink it. I don't think I've ever felt this out of my depth 😂 Do we really need to change them every two hours? If so, a 3 day stay = 36 pads? At this rate, I'll need a third bag just for the pads...🫠

Is anyone else not really reached nesting mood yet? I still feel like the baby is ages away...!

Moneyworrier123 · 22/04/2025 15:19

@Nope2024 I know what you mean! I just got those m&s ones as they weren’t too expensive and felt comfortable and I thought they’d tide me over.
That’s fair enough on the reusable nappies - it’s the same reason we decided against them!
Oh wow I am not sure, I just have packed a pack of those big tena lady pants and hoping for the best 😂
I haven’t got to nesting yet either, although I am enjoying washing and sorting all her clothes into the drawers! I’ve heard stories that we will go mad cleaning cupboards and skirting boards near the end - to be honest our house needs it so hopefully that comes to me 😂😂

JamTartLover · 22/04/2025 19:59

@Nope2024 I feel the same way about poop! My sister has had a baby and has been getting me to practice changing nappies so I'm getting some exposure beforehand (which has helped)!

My boob's have gotten so much bigger (along with my bump), I had to buy new bras. I'm going to go to M&S to see what their nursing bras are like. I've bought some pajamas today for my hospital bag so starting to get things together now.

I went slightly crazy in my kitchen and threw out/gave away a load of things that are no longer needed to make space. I also did the same in my bedroom so I do think the nesting has started - I'm going to be 32 weeks on Friday this week so not sure when nesting is meant to start.

@Moneyworrier123 Definitely do what's best for you regarding your mat leave! I haf the same feelings around when to start but i think it will end up being end of May/beginning of June to give myself some time to relax before the baby arrives. Are you able to work from home and have they started the recruitment for your replacement?

Moneyworrier123 · 22/04/2025 20:33

Ooh @JamTartLover where did you get the pyjamas?
You’re right I need to do right by me and baby girl! They actually aren’t replacing me, I think they just expect the rest of the team to pick up my work but they’re all moaning to me about it so I just spend my life feeling guilty 🙈 the positive is I work from home pretty much every day, I probably go to the office once or twice a month these days.

JamTartLover · 23/04/2025 12:26

@Moneyworrier123 I got mine from Primark, they have a decent maternity range for a reasonable price so I wouldn't be too unhappy if the clothes are ruined.

How annoying re. not replacing the role. I can understand how you and your team are feeling! Hopefully once the mat leave starts, you can focus on your lovely little girl!

Gooseygander555 · 25/04/2025 14:33

Hi everyone, been quiet the last few months but enjoyed catching up on how everyone is doing!
Things are feeling very real! I love feeling baby wriggle about and seeing my stomach move!
I’m also just about to start my hospital bag and feeling a bit overwhelmed at what’s needed.
I am hoping to use reusable nappies and wipes, but will buy disposables as well initially. The thought of the waste just makes me so sad so hoping i can reduce even a little of it!
starting ante natal classes soon so hoping they will have some useful info!

JamTartLover · 26/04/2025 09:22

@Gooseygander555 It's good to hear things are going well for you!

I love the movements and seeing my stomach move, it's such a unique feeling!

I feel the same about the hospital bag!

I have some antenatal classes next week so will start working on my birth plan soon too as my midwives keep reminding me!

Nope2024 · 09/05/2025 17:47

Hi everyone! How are you getting on?

(How is this next month and why have I still not got my arse in gear?!?! 🥲)
