Just curious to know what age people had their last baby .. and did you know that you were done with kids?

  1. Only wanted to 2 children and went through an awful lot to have them both. DS nearly died at 3 weeks old. DD's pregnancy was rough and labour fast and painful and I knew I could just never go through any of it again, even if there had been a doubt over our decision to only have 2. I am glad that part of my life, the TTC bit is done.

Had my second at 45. I was desperate for another until about 6 months post partum, but the feeling gradually faded and now (2 years on) I'm happy with two and given the cost of living thankful that we don't have more. DH was adamant that he didn't want more anyway. If I were younger (and much richer) I might have considered trying for a 3rd if DH was on board but I'm happy with my lot.

3rd and last at 32

Runnerinthenight · 10/10/2024 00:16

3rd and last at 40. Had a history of infertility and miscarriages, plus my age, so decided with my head not my heart. Had tubal ligation with the c/section.

JumpstartMondays · 10/10/2024 00:20

Last child at 38.

Daschund1 · 10/10/2024 00:22

34 and DH had the snip booked (as to our agreement) straight after she (DC3) was born, 18 next week and not a moment's regret.

luceygoosey · 10/10/2024 00:25

Done at 31 although had my 3 close together: 2001, 2003 and 2004

Sab1981 · 10/10/2024 00:26

Had my 1st (daughter) aged 25, 2nd (son) aged 29. Very much was done. Then aged 42 ( and on the pill) found myself pregnant. Didn't realise till 17 weeks. Currently 33 weeks pregnant with a boy. Still in shock and a mix of excited, and scared at the prospect of starting all over again.

Last child born when I was 43.

But I am pregnant again and baby is due to arrive on my 46th birthday.

It will be a wonderful birthday present but I am being greedy if I ask for a hysterectomy as well?

MojoJojo71 · 10/10/2024 00:27

41, 16 years after my first

ThatbloodyRoblox · 10/10/2024 00:28

That's amazing!!

Not sure if you could also have a hysterectomy and not sure it would be a good idea as it would bring on menopause which you won't need with a new baby!

You could ask for a tubal ligation ie. have your tubes tied, or your DH could have the snip?

CanelliniBeans · 10/10/2024 01:15

Third st 30. Wanted a 4th but it didn't happen so stopped trying at 33.

aintnospringchicken · 10/10/2024 01:19

I was 31 when I had my 2nd and last baby.

I haven’t spoken to my doctor about it yet and I’m not sure if it would even be advised to have a 2in1 surgery unless it is an emergency but I would just love to never, ever have a period again. They’ve been getting longer, more painful and more irregular to the point that I thought this pregnancy was actually the start of menopause.

But contraception definitely needs to be discussed after this one!!

Oodiks · 10/10/2024 01:34

Only once, at 40.

Livinginaclock · 10/10/2024 01:35

I was done, I only ever wanted one.

Sugargliderwombat · 10/10/2024 01:35

I'm pregnant with my second at 36 and will definitely be my last. I'm not fit enough to do it again it's killing me! I feel like I've aged so much this pregnancy.

AW24 · 10/10/2024 01:41

I was 36 and was pretty sure I was done.
That was 9 years ago- I'm pregnant with no3 🤪

That's what I said at 36 with no2.
Now 44 with no3 🤪

asquideatingdough · 10/10/2024 02:02

40 with no 2. Had secondary infertility and got lucky with IVF on the first round. Despite being older I found my second pregnancy much easier (no morning sickness or pelvic pain, which was crippling with my first) and the birth was as straightforward as they get (2 hour labour at home compared to 48 hrs ending with emergency c section and haemorrhage). No 2 was also a very easy baby so I did have some yearnings to try for a third. Glad I didn't now because my marriage didn't last and being a single parent to three would have been the end of my sanity.

No idea yet but I’m having my first at 42 soon (after a lot of losses).
