Just curious to know what age people had their last baby .. and did you know that you were done with kids?

SimpleThings101 · 09/10/2024 22:59

always said I wanted to be done by 30 but number 4 was a wee extra surprise.
I felt very old.

potatoes4all · 09/10/2024 23:01

Had my 3rd at 29 and that was definitely it for me!

cadburyegg · 09/10/2024 23:01

30, and no I didn't feel done, I wanted another for about a year. Ds2 stopped sleeping after that so funnily enough the desire for another baby also stopped 😉

seven201 · 09/10/2024 23:02

Second at 41. 7 1/2 year age gap due to secondary infertility and recurrent losses. I definitely didn't want to be this age. We still have an embryo in the freezer but I just don't think I could do pregnancy and recovering from being pregnant again at 42 or older. I had a really rough pregnancy and it took my body a good 9 months to recover - I even thought I had arthritis 6 months post birth, but dr said it wasn't and it did eventually go. I think if my body could take it I might but personally I didn't want to be older than mid ish 30s. You do you though. I certainly don't judge others who are older.

lovelyhat · 09/10/2024 23:02

I had my one and only at 33. Tried for a second for several years and gave up at 40.

SockQueen · 09/10/2024 23:03
  1. As I was pushing out DS2, I was saying to myself "I never have to do this ever again!" I knew I was done and I'm now 40 and still feel I was right.
pollypocket90 · 09/10/2024 23:03

31, she was my 4th and last. 15 year age gap between oldest and youngest!

Purposefullyporous · 09/10/2024 23:04
  1. It was a big surprise. I knew we were done after that as it was our 3rd and my DH is older than me so.. I'd love to have had more but financially and also just morally with our ages (he was 51) it wouldn't be fair to the kids so he had the snip after that. I felt sad but it was the right decision. Our surprise 3rd has been a lovely gift to us tho even if she was unplanned and we are a bit older. I've actually found her the easiest baby and easiest labour (altho I had issues with my blood pressure during the birth which I did not have with my other two when I was younger so perhaps that's a sign my body is getting a bit past childbearing) I'm in a secure place in my life now and have more of a sense of what I'm doing so I've found the babyhood easier. I think there are many pro points to having a baby late 30s
Whatsinaname6 · 09/10/2024 23:11

27 second and last.

MammaKel · 09/10/2024 23:11

27 when I had my tubes tied after my 2nd baby.

KendraTheVampyrSlayer · 09/10/2024 23:13

28 and yes I knew I was done.

AntiHop · 09/10/2024 23:13

43, second child.

Scutterbug · 09/10/2024 23:13

I was 30 when I had no 4. Tbh, I think I would have had more except I had all four by c section and thought having more might be pushing it!

MyOtherCarIsAPorsche · 09/10/2024 23:14

Third at 29.

H had booked the vasectomy after the second, I found out I was pregnant with no. 3 which stalled the vasectomy until after the third was born.

He paid for a vasectomy a couple of weeks after the birth.

I fondly remember the letter he got confirming the success of that procedure which concluded 'you may now consider yourself sterile'.

I framed that letter Grin

SummerBarbecues · 09/10/2024 23:16

39 second child. I know I was done because I have never wanted more than two.

Kneeslikethese · 09/10/2024 23:18

38 with 3rd child. Absolutely done.
(First at 21)

Wednesdaysotherchild · 09/10/2024 23:19

No idea yet but I’m having my first at 42 soon (after a lot of losses).

Pussygaloregalapagos · 09/10/2024 23:22
  1. I would have rolled again but husband not keen so he had the snip. His body his choice but I was a bit sad.
Gcsunnyside23 · 09/10/2024 23:22

26, absolutely knew without a doubt I was done

ladycarlotta · 09/10/2024 23:31
  1. Baby is one week old and after the journey to have her (secondary infertility, many many losses), I've been pretty certain throughout my pregnancy that this will be our last. It's sad as I love having babies, but we're really lucky to have our two and financially/logistically I don't think any more is a good idea for us anyway.
ZippyDenimBear · 09/10/2024 23:43

Third at 39. After 3 in 3 years, defo done.

Felt done and very grateful.

It was the right no for us.

BigSmallFigBall · 10/10/2024 00:04

First and only at 36.

My new(we) partner and I are considering having a child together at 45.

mondaytosunday · 10/10/2024 00:06

Last one at 43. My DH already had two kids and with our two and my age we thought why tempt fate? If I'd had kids younger I might have had more.

DramaAlpaca · 10/10/2024 00:07

I had my third and last baby at 33, and yes I knew I was done.
