I have found out VERY early that I am pregnant and due early June (I am only 10dpo today) and found out yesterday I am pregnant (22 Sept)

Wanted to start this thread for those of you who have also just found out :) I found the thread when I was pregnant with my son super helpful!

I'm Lexie, 32, have a 14 month old son so am just squeezing in 2 under 2 :)

@Sobersally did the gestational sac and yolk sac look ok? (Might be worth checking the measurements on the scan report).

I only ask because I had a mmc in July and it presented like that - I was sure of my dates - my scan at 8 weeks showed a 7 week pregnancy with a heartbeat - which wouldn’t have been possible given when I got my bfp. EPU told me everything was fine but I googled my measurements myself and my yolk sac was way too big - which basically means the pregnancy is doomed (likely due to chromosomal issue), hence the slow growth. Sure enough, by 9 weeks heartbeat had stopped. It was a horrible rollercoaster.

At the time I did lots of reading and research and measurements being off are also extremely common. So if yolk sac and gestational sac look good then very likely all is well and it’s just a measurement issue.

It’s horrible not knowing. Thinking of you.

Hello everyone,
Been lurking for several weeks now and not had the guts to join this due date thread! Technically due 19th June by LMP but scan yesterday put me back 2 weeks and been told it’s doomed! I had a minor SCH bleed from around 5-6 weeks. This has stopped now, but when I went for my follow up scan yesterday when I was supposed to be 8 weeks, they found a heartbeat but told me to prepare for miscarriage. Husband and I are devastated and confused. No real explanation given and I was in too much shock after being told there was a heartbeat but then explaining how to manage my bleeding at home when it happens. I have posted a separate thread on this forum…
Anyway, I do wonder if it’s because the yolk sac seemed big on my scan and also reported to be slow growth? How big was yours at how many weeks? I’m so sorry to hear yours ended in a loss 😔

Bewildened · 08/11/2024 12:19

Hi @CustardCream31 I’m so sorry you are in limbo too. I can’t remember my specific measurements but the normal range should be on your scan report, and there is loads of info about it online - eg here:

https://pmc.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/articles/PMC8987470/

Sadly a heartbeat doesn’t always mean good news, especially if it is slow and/or combined with other features like large yolk sac and/or misshapen gestational sac.

If it’s any consolation this happened to me in July, I had a normal period in August and then conceived in September and all seems fine this time. From everything I’ve read this kind of Mc is due to a chromosomal abnormality that is just bad luck, so every chance all will be well when you conceive again.

Can Ultrasound Analysis of the Yolk Sac be a Predictor of Pregnancy Outcome? - PMC

The Yolk sac is the first source of transfer between the mother and the embryo, with a nutritional and gas exchange function, vital for the development of the embryo, to which we can add primitive hematopoiesis, the production of stem cells and germ .....

Thanks Bewildened, I appreciate that. I'll take a look at that link. It's so hard not to overthink and worry isn't it 😖 I'm glad things are looking good for you this time and sending lots of luck!
I know what will be, will be... but it's the not knowing.
Will see what tomorrow/next week brings...

Sobersally · 08/11/2024 12:38

@CustardCream31 sorry for the news you’ve received, hopefully it’s not the outcome they have predicted 🤞🏻
@Bewildened I’ll have a look online at measurements although i don’t really know mine. in my scan today she said everything looks fine and as it should be for 6 weeks but I should be 8 weeks.. I can’t see the measurements on my report only that the gestational sac is measuring 0.79cm, nothing about the yolk sac. This was a private scan so I have rang EPU and left a message as I won’t relax now and feel like I need some advice from someone as I am 100% sure on my dates so it doesn’t make sense to measure this much behind.. x

dmb91 · 08/11/2024 12:59

@Sobersally hopefully they've just got the measurements slightly wrong as it's hard for them to measure this early.
At my scan on Wednesday the first measurement she took dated me at 8 weeks but the second put me at 9+2 which is a big difference!

Stef92 · 08/11/2024 13:45

Got my 12 week scan through via the badgernotes app and it'll be on 02-12! I'll be exactly 12 weeks then if the measurements taken yesterday are accurate

YorkshirePeridot · 09/11/2024 13:27

@MittensForKittens123 glad to see your update, hope the next 4 weeks are as stress free as possible for you!

@CustardCream31 what awful news to be given, I don't even know how one would come to terms with that. Take it a day at a time and I truly hope they're wrong 💕

YorkshirePeridot · 09/11/2024 13:30

How is everyone this weekend? I've had my flu jab this morning. Got friends coming over this evening who will likely notice I'm not drinking but will be too polite to comment 😅

I’m doing ok, nausea has subsided and can feel my energy slowly creeping back as I head towards 10 weeks!

I’m going for a meal with some friends this evening and they will also notice I’m not drinking, they’ll probably ask why though! 😂

MittensForKittens123 · 09/11/2024 14:11

I’ve still not organised my flu and covid jabs - another thing to add to the to do list! My toddler also needs their flu nasal spray vaccination doing still.

I’m being a bit hermit-y at the moment to avoid questions about not drinking. Annoyingly my work Xmas party is a few days before my 12 week scan (which is at 13 weeks), so I guess people will notice then. I didn’t tell my colleagues about my last pregnancy until about 20+ weeks as I didn’t want to talk about it. I suppose people guessing is only really an issue if things don’t go well at the 12 week scan.

Bewildened · 09/11/2024 18:18

Argh really need to get my flu jab too! I had covid pretty badly in June so might skip the covid one. My colleague had both on the same day last week and was really ill afterwards.

I’ve got my work strategy day with drinks after next week and am just going to do my usual strategy of having a drink in my hand at all times, strategically losing it from time to time and letting people get me another. It’s worked a charm in both my previous pregnancies - in my experience people only really clock it if you say no to a drink, they don’t actively monitor your glass contents - so you could give that a go @MittensForKittens123?

Im definitely looking pregnant now though - mainly just fat and bloating but my clothes don’t fit 😭. And 9+3 here and nausea still in full swing. I think I was maybe 13-14 weeks before it faded in my last pregnancy so may have a while to go…

MittensForKittens123 · 09/11/2024 20:29

@Bewildened thats a good idea! I might also try and swap in a few AF drinks too (I know I fooled people with AF beer last time)

I’m looking extra fat too, but luckily I mostly wear shirt dresses so it disguises it a bit.

Also really looking forward to the end of the nausea, was definitely not this bad last time! Main thing I’ve found that helps is sherbet lemons. Have you managed to find any cures that work for you?

Hi everyone! Been lurking on and off. I’m due end of June 2025! Hope everyone’s ok. Is there a fb / WhatsApp group it was in talk last time I looked but can’t find an answer I’d love to join it so!

Hope everyone is having a peaceful Sunday!

The private scan yesterday offered some reassurance (and has at least settled the mind for the next week until next EPU scan!!).

The sonographer yesterday really struggled too (damn retroverted uterus!). He measured the baby 0.6mm bigger than EPU scan 2 days before, but also dated me back a few days? Makes no sense but from Google it looks like size/gestation varies quite a lot depending on the place... heartbeat was still present. I asked him if it was a worry that I should technically be 8 weeks based on LMP, and he said whilst it doesn't add up, it's a not a huge concern at this stage because it's so small and the view is so bad due to my uterus position. He said the 12 week scan is always the best time for due date prediction.

So... onwards, one hour/day at a time. Keeping a little faith that our bean still has a heartbeat for now.

@sobersally I hope you get some reassurance when you get seen by EPU! Flowers

Me too! Very very grumpy Shock So tired and not glowy! But certainly feeling pregnant x

SaturnSpark · 10/11/2024 14:27

My first NHS scan is in 2 weeks and hating this wait haha. I’ve had 2 early scans that I went for privately but still feel mildly anxious even though all was fine. This is my first so I’m sure it’s normal to feel a range of emotions!

Trying to enjoy it.

Hi everyone, I've been over on the infertility forum but I thought I'd explore over here as people have stopped posting on the thread we had going for BFPs after a September IVF cycle. Hope I'm OK to join this thread!

To introduce myself, I'm currently 9w2d from a fresh embryo transfer after my first cycle of IVF. Due to the IVF I was fortunate to have a scan 7 weeks after my ET; all seemed to be looking looking good, including the heartbeat, and at the time I was measured as being 6w6d, which puts my due date as Friday 13th June! It's taken a while to get a booking appointment with my midwife though - I'm finally meeting her next Friday when I'll be 10 weeks. Desperate to get to the 12 week scan now for a bit of reassurance that things are still progressing well. This has been a long time coming after years of unexplained infertility and 2 years waiting for approval for NHS funding. We only get 1 shot though, so all my eggs are quite literally in this basket.

There's a lot of posts in this thread and I've been skimming over them today; sorry I don't know much yet about everyone's stories and experiences but I hope to get to know you all a little better with time! How is everyone finding the first trimester so far?

Sobersally · 10/11/2024 21:55

@CustardCream31 thats much more reassuring news! Hopefully it’s just the position of your uterus making it difficult to take proper measurements, when is your next EPU scan? I have an appointment tomorrow at 2.30pm at EPU, they said they will scan and ‘have a good look at what’s going on in there’. Glad they are seeing me as I was worried they would just say I was overthinking it and that I had got my dates wrong or too early to tell etc, will let you know what they say!

Sobersally · 10/11/2024 21:58

@xMrsxHx87x welcome and congratulations! Sounds like you’ve been on a bit of a journey to get here, how exciting! Hopefully your midwife can rush through your 12 week scan appointment so that you can see your healthy little baba. The wait between scans is hard this early on!

Mine is supposed to be Thursday morning, but I really can't do it so that's why I'd been trying to call them to change it. Blindly agreed whilst in shock last appt without checking calendar.

Hope everyone's had a good day and not feeling too rough!

Looking for some advice ..

Hi ladies I've been a bit of a lurker in the board I hope all of your pregnancies are going well and sending lots of well wishes

I am 7 weeks today due 30 June. I had a scan at the epu at 5+4 and managed to see a gestational sac and a yolk sac I was rebooked for this Thursday .. I'm not known for my patience and booked a private scan at exactly 6 weeks and saw a heartbeat 🥰

I'm on progesterone due to 4 previous miscarriages the last being a second trimester miscarriage where I retained a lot of placenta that took some removing (5 operations and a year in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time due to the amount of blood loss it caused) I didn't think I'd ever allow myself to consider getting pregnant again but here we are and very happy about it .. I had a lot of test but no reason was found for recurrent miscarriage ..

Since around 5 weeks I had really sore boobs and nausea fast forward to this Saturday just gone and nothing my boobs aren't sore nausea has gone and I'm worried sick has anybody else had symptoms totally disappear and everything be ok I know it's only just day 3 of no symptoms and I haven't had any bleeding but I'm worried that if anything was wrong the progesterone might stop the bleeding .. has anybody had any similar experiences?
