I have just found out I am expecting baby number 2 and my due date is 1st May.

Has anyone else found out they are expecting and looking for some company?

❤️❤️

Haha I started and binge watched that today! The last series anyway

Hello!

I found out I’m pregnant this week (5+1) and it’ll be my first. Unfortunately I had a miscarriage earlier this year and so now I’m a bit terrified like some of you have already said.

I don’t have Facebook but just wondered if any of you ladies could tell me what they do at a private early viability scan? Guessing they can’t do much other than tell me you if it looks about the right stage of development for how pregnant you are? Thinking of booking one in for week 7 but trying to manage my own expectations a bit!

thanks

MadeWithL0ve · 07/09/2024 06:57

Hi please can I join, found out I am pregnant after 9 years ttc. Unsure of actual DD yet but should be around 12th May. (Periods are irregular due to PCOS)

Hey 👋🏻 congratulations 😊 I’m in the same boat as you so I know how hard it is after a loss. I haven’t had a scan this time but in my last pregnancy I had an early scan at 8w. Unfortunately that’s when I knew something was wrong because I was only measuring 6w. So the early viability scans are mainly to check if the pregnancy is developing in the right place and if they can see the sac etc. Worth doing if it will help put your mind at ease ❤️

BrodieKD · 07/09/2024 12:25

Congratulations @MadeWithL0ve @heartheart89 @JNSW welcome to the group!

@JNSW I had an early scan with my 1st at 8 weeks. Just FYI it was vaginal. You go in, they provide a screen and you take your bottom half on, I didn't find it painful, just uncomfortable. They just check around down there, check the ovaries, the size of the baby and make sure there is only one. I got given a report to take away with me and a photo x

I think my due date is around 8th of May, almost wish I hadn’t found out early as time is dragging until the early scan in two weeks! Could somebody repost the Facebook link? I think the latest one from yesterday has expired now!

Zeeha · 07/09/2024 17:04

Under 10 weeks you're usually offered an internal scan. You can refuse this though, but it is more difficult for them to scan you externally and any measurements may not be as accurate.

With my first pregnancy I had an internal scan at 6+2. Shortly after I had a missed miscarriage. Then with my second pregnancy, which thankfully led to our amazing daughter, I had an abdominal scan at 9 weeks at Window to the Womb. I refused the internal scan and they could see clearly at this stage. This time with my third pregnancy, I'm having an abdominal scan at 7+3 by the London Women's Clinic. They didn't feel they needed to wait longer when I let them know I didn't want an internal scan now I knew I was pregnant, so I'm hoping they can see what is needed to give us some reassurance. If all is well then, I'll probably go two weeks later for a scan at Window to the Womb and then next the 12 week NHS scan.

Flick89 · 07/09/2024 17:15

I wanted to go for a scan this weekend now I’m six weeks but the receptionist I spoke to advised waiting until seven weeks to get a definite heart beat. I may have to have a trans vaginal scan but that’s fine if it means measurements are more accurate. I’m glad he said this as I’d have lost my mind waiting for another to confirm a heart beat. Not to mention twice as many costs!

I keep getting bursts of being itchy all over and restless legs. I had this later on in my last pregnancy but not at 6 weeks! I'll be demented if I am like this all the way through

Interestingly I noticed that I'm a bit swollen, my watch strap was really tight. I don't remember swelling up this early on before!

Oh gosh. I couldn’t get my boots on earlier. I had to change my outfit. I didn’t even realise I was holding water although I am 2kg up already so maybe I am! Told myself I’m stocking up on fat for when the aversions start and I can’t stomach much. But exactly the same as you - I was able to keep my usual rings on and watch throughout last time. Strange..

Cheeseballer · 07/09/2024 21:51

Ugh I've been feeling so rough last few days. I'm only 4 weeks 5 days and I've been physically sick twice today and felt sick all day! Anyone else? I don't remember getting sick with my last two until after about 6 weeks! Am I having triplets or something?!!! 😅

Cheeseballer · 07/09/2024 21:53

Also, I am a really healthy eater normally and the last few days I've barely had any veg, not wanted much to eat, started drinking orange squash instead of water and eating mainly beige food! Tonight I had mcdonalds chips and coke which I haven't had for years!!

I can’t stomach eggs really annoyingly as they’re obviously so good for us. Last week I couldn’t get enough of my morning omelettes with loads of veg. 🙄 But I’m glad to finally have aversions and nausea today as I was worried! As soon as I booked a scan for £165 (as I was concerned I had no nausea unlike last time) I felt sick within half an hour. Typical but I’m relieved tbh!

Also not loving veg despite usually really enjoying eating all kinds. Thankfully fruit is still okay but has to be watery kinds like melon and satsumas. A banana was far too claggy earlier also. Oh the joys… 😅

I had salty fries from McDs the other night and they were delicious.

Congrats! I was also only eating beige (mainly salty crisps and bread) the past couple of weeks but now my nausea has kicked in and I’ve lost my appetite. I’ve been eating watermelon and mango and I went out yesterday just to buy satsumas 😂 weird the phases we go through isn’t it! I’m also finding ice cold drinks help with the nausea

Flick89 · 07/09/2024 22:01

Oh and I have an aversion to…. Cake! Anyone who knows me would know this is very out of character indeed. 😅

Cheeseballer · 07/09/2024 22:03

Not just me then! Congrats to you all. I've also completely gone off tea and coffee. Just writing that turns my stomach! I'd drink 6 teas a day last week!
Need to make a real effort to eat healthily now though, can't believe how much can change in 1 week!

Snap! I usually have at least one coffee a day but I’ve gone off them and tea. I’d just bought decaf tea as well! As long as you’re eating that’s the main thing. Don’t stress too much about eating healthy if you can’t stomach it. That will change soon enough so eat whatever you can!

I’ve also gone off cake and biscuits. I guess that’s a good thing 😂 my husband has a massive sweet tooth so more for him!

Reading all your posts about food aversions reminds me with my first pregnancy I said to my husband 'oh I can't wait to feel more symptoms' soon regretted that. The constant nausea 🤢

I am not looking forward to feeling like that again and retching everytime I open the fridge 🤣
