Congratulations @pploo !!! I feel like the sickness has eased massively I haven't been physically sick in a while, although if I don't snack regularly the nausea creeps in. Also strangely as I normally have such a sweet tooth but if I have ANYTHING sweet/sugary etc it just makes me feel really queasy after!
Hope everyone else is feeling OK! Xx

Anticipationstation · 22/10/2024 08:34

How exciting about your little boys @ploo and @AmyElizabeth93! 💙

So pleased for you @Rosequartzz that you’re feeling up to telling people and getting lots of love in return!

Very much not having any excited reactions here to pregnancy number three! 🤣 People tend to either not believe me or just say “why?” or “again?!”. Very different to with the first two. But we are very excited! 20 week scan is in a couple of weeks and then we will tell the other two, which I’m looking forward to.

soymilknosugar · 22/10/2024 17:10

I’m having a boy too! This is a lucky boy thread!
glad to hear everyone’s doing well. Halfway mark has come around quickly!

figgyandpig · 28/10/2024 17:40

I’ve been feeling the baby wriggling around which has made me less anxious. Finding my in-laws difficult, they’re telling us who we have to announce our pregnancy to 🤦🏽‍♀️😂 my husband likes to tell people when we see them (I’m easy) but his dad can’t cope 🥴 he’s like, you need to text this person and call this person! So weird.

got my 20 week scan on the 8th. Half term has begun & we are booked up to our eyeballs! Lots of pumpkins, Halloween parties and play dates 😴😴😴😴

FruitPoppet · 04/11/2024 20:21

Hello, so glad to find others due late March! I'm due on the 28th and excited for my 20 week scan on the 7th! Have found each trimester equal measure of magic and tragic so far. The Nausea and smell aversions in the 1st trimester were no joke (I work as a chef so was really tested 😂), but am struggling with very dramatic mood swings in the 2nd trimester... Anyone else?

Anyone else Cornwall based?

And for those that work and quality for SMP, when are you thinking you'll finish work? I have to decide in the next few weeks!

soymilknosugar · 05/11/2024 07:55

Welcome @FruitPoppet and congrats! Ooh that must have been super hard as a chef!! Not many mood swings here yet touch wood but I was incredibly grumpy in the third trimester last time so I’m sure that’ll kick in again lol. My due date is 24/03 and I’m thinking of going on mat leave the week beforehand, how about you?

Anticipationstation · 05/11/2024 13:17

Congratulations @FruitPoppet!! I don’t know how you managed to get through the first trimester working as a chef - that’s so impressive!

Im due on 29th I think, and not planning to start leave any earlier than that week as long as I’m feeling up to it. I want the maximum time off when the baby is here, and I find that work is a good distraction from the waiting game in the last few weeks! But I definitely feel bigger already than in my last pregnancies so not sure how I’ll be managing night shifts by 39 weeks 😂.

FruitPoppet · 06/11/2024 06:56

My job has been the hardest thing to deal with so far! The days are 8-5 (thankfully no evenings!) and we're a very busy place, and it's not even Christmas month yet 😒 I'm already struggling with lower back and pelvis pain after a long day and was thinking of trying to take a large chunk of holiday or dramatically reduce my 50 hour work week, prior to mat leave.. I'm salaried and my AL renews to 28 days from Jan 1st, and according to the company mat leave policy, I'm required to take 75% of annual leave before starting mat leave! But as it stands I think I would like to stop working entirely around 36 weeks so I have some time to prepare (1st baby!) and because my job is so physical I think I'll be totally useless by then 😂

AmyElizabeth93 · 12/11/2024 12:41

Ahh Congratulations @FruitPoppet !

Hats off to you being able to chef in those early days - I couldn't stand the smell of even making toast up until around a week ago the sickness was coming and going so hard my poor hubs has only just started getting a break from the cooking!

I'm due 23rd March and will probably be starting my leave from the week before unless anything changes in the meantime! I'm fortunate enough that I have an office roll and can work from home when needed if I find the commute challenging which I think I will by then! - we have the standard mat leave 6 weeks then SMP so planning to work as late as possible, also previously a hairdresser so will use the week before to do all of my clients pre baby so they can leave me be for at least 8 weeks lol!

The early days used to drag sooo badly when waiting for early reassurance/12 week scans now I cant believe we've had our 20 week, doing the nursery and feeling him kick away all day every day! I'm now at the point I just want it to slow down so I can enjoy it before 3rd trimester troubles kick in! Although saying that the bad back is flaring up!

Hope you guys are all feeling well xx

figgyandpig · 15/11/2024 21:25

Hi @FruitPoppet congratulations! I’m due 28th too. Had my 20 weeks scan and all looked good.
wow I bet that was hard working with all those smells 🤢 I don’t blame you wanting to leave early.
Im a reflexologist and work from home. I did struggle with some feet in the 1st trimester 🥴 I think I’m going to stop at the beginning of March.

I’ve had some swelling in my feet this evening and I also have a vein on my right hip which is really visible 🫣 feels a bit achey sometimes. The midwife said it’s normal but it’s freaking me out!

hope everyone’s doing good!

FruitPoppet · 27/11/2024 17:04

How is everyone doing?! Is anyone else experiencing a huge increase in movements this week??

We found out at our 20 week scan that babe may have a cleft lip although they were moving so much during the scan that the sonographer couldnt finish any measurements and refered us to fetal medicine. We had a week of worrying before seeing a fetal consultant who did the most thourough scan and said that she could see no signs of a cleft lip and that our baby GIRL looked healthy all round! Gosh pregnancy is anxiety inducing!

I officially start my Mat leave the 1st of March, but am recuding down to 30 hours in January and 20 hours in February. The hightened smell is back in full force and I'm struggelling expecially with our xmas fish soup and crab loaded rarebits! ugh.

Also had a funny experience with MIL when we told her we were thinking (just thinking) of using her mums name as a middle name, MIL then went and told her Mum our idea, so it very much looks like we're using her name as a middle name as she was very touched at the thought and its not like we can insult a poorly women in her 90s! Its a good thing we really like the name lol.

figgyandpig · 07/12/2024 12:25

@FruitPoppet Just wading through the Christmas stuff! My son is 7 so lots of school things happening and I’m part of the pta so end up helping with a lot. He has 2 nativities 🤦🏽‍♀️😴 the church is tiny so have to do two separate ones for the parents.

pregnancy is going well, bit of heart burn which is pissing me off 😂

ahh families can be hard to navigate can’t they. Especially in laws and over stepping boundaries. Sound like you mother in law was excited, it’s nice to have a family name you like for your daughter 🥰 glad everything is looking better, it’s horrid when they scare you like that.

we told my husbands dad and step mum that we weren’t sharing names (mainly because they are sooooo judgemental and won’t like anything we come up with) and they got annoyed, saying “why are you being difficult” They’re so weird. They helped us with paying towards our ivf and so I think they feel like they can have a say in everything. You can’t choose your family 😬🥴

not long and March will be here and you’ll be off away from those fishy smells!

Anticipationstation · 07/12/2024 20:12

Hi everyone! Hope you’re all doing well!

@FruitPoppet hats off to you for working in a kitchen with all the smells! I don’t know how you’re doing it - and it must be crazy at this time of year! It’s great that you’ve sorted your mat leave now and that all was reassuring with foetal medicine. And I love that you’re using baby’s great grandmother’s name. ❤️

@figgyandpig I think I’m in a similar boat to you with all the festive kid stuff going on! I swear every day this month it’s a Christmas jumper day or a school fayre or a nativity play or a carol service… Just hoping to not drop too many balls but at least it is making time go quite quickly! I’m sorry your family are being funny about names. I’m trying really hard not to discuss my ideas with anyone but it’s tough to keep quiet.

I’ve requested to start my mat leave on the week that baby is due, which may or may not prove to be a terrible idea, but I’m going to stop doing nights at 38 weeks. Let’s see how it goes!

figgyandpig · 27/01/2025 17:36

How is everyone doing? I’m 31 weeks and doing good. Had an antenatal appointment and midwife measured my bump and it was 1cm behind from 3 weeks ago. I’ve been reading about how the fundal height measurements are inaccurate but it’s worried me. Because I’m ivf, I have a growth scan booked in next week anyway so will see.

I don’t want them to get in me head & scare me. My midwife said she’s not concerned and thinks it’s just because I hadn’t eaten or drank much and baby was curled up a bit.

argh annoying! I hope you guys are all ok? Not long now for some of us! Xxx

sel2223 · 27/01/2025 17:52

I'm 31+3, feeling very heavy and tired, even little tasks like putting socks on feel like a major effort these days!
The heartburn is utterly horrific, headaches, general aches and pains, insomnia, back ache, constantly needing a wee...... but, on the flip side, I love my big bump and feeling those kicks!

Got a growth scan next week and hoping all is as it should be. Also should be completing on a new house in the next 2 weeks and want to be in well before baby makes an appearance so she needs to stay where she is.

@figgyandpig I'd take the measurements with a pinch of salt, they were way off in my first pregnancy! Also it definitely makes a difference if baby has changed position. Hope your scan goes well.

figgyandpig · 27/01/2025 18:29

@sel2223 Yes! Socks are a nightmare 😂 good luck with the move. You can do lots of pottering around before baby comes.

thanks for the advice, I really want to not let it get to me. I know growth scans and measurements are inaccurate but it always leaves me with a bit of anxiety when they’re off. Hope your scan goes well next week too xx

Anticipationstation · 27/01/2025 19:03

Hi everyone! We are getting there… Slowly!

31+ something weeks here. Feel mildly like a hippo. Very fed up of work but also want the time to go slowly so that I can get everything tied up, if that makes sense?

Sorry to hear about your measurement issues @figgyandpig. Hopefully the growth scan is reassuring! Anecdotally, my first two were always between 6-10 weeks behind on fundal height so I had countless “urgent” scans. They ended up saying number one was so huge on the scan that he was induced early. Turned out to be 50th centile 😂.

I have a growth scan in early Feb too so it will be nice to say hi. I hope I don’t crack and find out the sex of the baby after waiting all this time for a surprise!

Have you chosen names or got hospital bags and baby stuff sorted yet? I feel like it all gets a bit more real after the 30 week mark.

soymilknosugar · 27/01/2025 19:28

@figgyandpig I wouldn’t worry, I’m in the exact same boat and have a growth scan tomorrow - just looking forward to seeing baby again! Glad to hear everyone’s doing well. It really won’t be long now before the babies are here!

Rosequartzz · 27/01/2025 20:43

@ffiggyandpig ditto everyone saying not to worry. These measurements with a tape really aren't accurate and I'm IVF too.the first time they measured they measured me 6 weeks ahead and ended up doing an emergency scan showing baby is perfectly normal size. A couple weeks later they measured again and this time I was showing 3 weeks behind. So they decided not to bother with these going forward. I have a growth scan this Wednesday as I officially hit 32 weeks!

Hope everyone is feeling well. My heartburn is back with a vengeance, got water retention and niggles here and there but loving all the baby movements ❤️

Coffeenotes · 27/01/2025 21:00

Lovely reading everyone's updates. Hope you are all doing well. Heartburn and insomnia here too - I am really getting through the packs of Rennies!

@figgyandpig I suddenly measured randomly big at the midwife appointment, so had to have a scan last week in case there was an issue. It was all fine and measuring average on the scan. Good luck with your appointment. X

AmyElizabeth93 · 27/01/2025 21:25

@figgyandpig don't let the measurements worry you! Honestly it is the most inaccurate form of monitoring! Depends on the amount of fluid, time of day (I know I'm double the size by 3pm) babes position, mothers makeup (I carried a little extra round my pouch before I got pregnant) yet I am still measuring small! We have a growth scan tomorrow but I'm not concerned in the slightest, all other scans have been OK, babes moving lots every day and my clothes are getting tighter so he is deffinately getting bigger 😂
Sickness finally disappeared a good few weeks ago and the horrific pelvic pain has set in but I'll take that all day long over HG! Now just at the stage where I could happily stay like this for forever with a cute bump keeping him safe but also getting impatient to meet him 🤣 nursery is finished and we have 90% of what he needs just need to start ticking home birth boxes, order pool etc! Hope everyone else is doing good x

figgyandpig · 15/02/2025 22:39

Thanks everyone for reassuring me. I really needed that. Everything was fine at the growth scan but they then found proteins in my urine on two occasions & some funny vision changes so that started to freak me out but the most recent one has been back to normal. They think I was dehydrated & hormones.
Baby has moved around & is now breach 🙈😂 so I’ve been doing lots of exercises to shift it! Any tips for moving the baby? I’m not doing that thing where the dr turns it manually 🫣

We’ve got most of the stuff ready, just the odd bits here and there to sort.
can anyone recommend a good hands free breast pump? You know, the ones you put in your bra and walk around with?

Hope everyone’s good. We’re getting there! Not long for some of you 🤍🤍🤍

Anticipationstation · 15/02/2025 23:15

@figgyandpig So pleased everything was OK at the growth scan! Has the proteinuria resolved? Hope you’re feeling better!

I’m afraid I don’t have any tips on encouraging baby to move from their breach position - hopefully someone on here will be able to advise you! Regarding pumps, I know a couple of friends who have exclusively/almost exclusively pumped and both got on well with the Elvie, but I’ve not used it myself.

I think I’ve managed to convince myself that baby isn’t going to come early, but I probably need to let that go and start thinking about packing a hospital bag and getting some bits ready. I think I’m somehow still in a bit of denial!

figgyandpig · 18/02/2025 21:54

@Anticipationstation thank you 🙏 yes the protein thing has been fine on my last two test and the vision thing isn’t as bad, so trying to forget about it now otherwise I’ll catastrophise 🙈

I had some mad movement last night, bit painful at times so I’m hoping baby has flipped!

Yes, the Elvie one is on the list for best reviews. That one and momcosy. I need to make a decision really instead of constantly reading about each one.

i know what you mean. I’ve not really been thinking about how close we are now to having the baby and that it’ll be here in our lives very soon. My son is 7 so it’s been a while since we’ve had a baby in the house and it took us 5 years to get to here so it still dosent feel real!
im so ready though. Not for the night times and all that shit 🙈😭 syking myself up for that all again.

soon it’ll be March and that will be the real countdown!

AmyElizabeth93 · 21/02/2025 04:58

@figgyandpig glad all went OK at the growth scan!
Have a look online at 'spinning babies' our boy was breech and was jeopardising my dream of a home birth lol! He flipped at 32 weeks and I gave birth last Saturday 15/02 to a healthy 3lb 7oz little boy called Roman! Unfortunately emergency csection due to pre eclampsia and him becoming distressed, not my ideal plan but wouldn't change it for the world, no assistance needed to get him going although we have been in hospital since as he struggled to regulate his temperature and was slightly jaundice but these are both improving thankfully!
This is your sign to pack your hosp bag ladies! Haha in my head I still had two more paydays and loads of time to do stuff lol!
