@Cheetocat I saw your post about trapped wind daily, have you thought about trying probiotic drops?

Since little man started them he's had no wind problems and before that he was like your little 1 had it daily and was in pain from about 4am every night. He's been on them since end of April and is a different baby now he doesn't have tummy problems xx

@CheeseAndCrackersx We've already used up a full bottle of probiotic drops and it made no difference unfortunately 😢 The hardest thing is that the wind interrupts all of his needs, when he's trying to go down for a nap he can't fall asleep because he's so uncomfortable so it takes ages, I know he's not just fighting sleep because I can hear his little tummy gurgling. When he's hungry half the time he's so uncomfortable trying to have his milk that he's yelping and can't stay latched, I have to keep stopping the feed and give him massages and do bicycle kicks. It happens with both the boob and bottle. My heart is just in pieces watching him every day and we fight for him at every appointment but they don't offer any real help. He sees a pediatrician, the GP and two nurses regularly. He has jabs on Wednesday and we're going to beg for some relief for him again.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 09/06/2024 12:05

Aww bless him @Cheetocat I hope things start to resolve soon. So hard isn't it when you see them in pain.

Thanks for setting up.

Easiest way to trim baby's nails? I have been cutting them but he keeps scratching himself 😩 he's always grabbing now including his face unfortunately! I don't want to keep his hands covered at this age as he's obviously learning to use them

LavenderSweetPea · 09/06/2024 18:32

@Ebonythoughts I got an electric nail file from Amazon after I cut my poor baby's finger with the baby nail scissors :( the electric file can't possibly hurt them and it's much easier

Cheetocat · 09/06/2024 19:06

I get a shorter cut with the scissors compared to the clippers, sometimes I manage it when he's asleep which makes it a bit easier.

Thanks for the new thread x

I feel like my little boy sleeps way longer than other babies his age, he's 4 months old today and he takes around 3 huge naps with very short wake windows if his trapped wind isn't bothering him, I don't keep him awake longer because he gets so fussy when he's overtired.

anony1111 · 09/06/2024 21:14

Thank you! Think I will try some scissors and if he's still getting scratched I will try a file!

Do any of you that had SPD or hip pain in pregnancy still suffer with it now? I thought it would of got better by now but unfortunately not 😩

My lb sleeps loads too. People always comment on it. Most of our family who we see alot still haven't heard him cry. He is healthy just very content and loves his sleep. Like me 🤦🏼‍♀️

CheeseAndCrackersx · 09/06/2024 21:55

My in laws pee me off.
Visited today and they were saying "he's looking at us as to say whose these people" and I felt like shouting "cos you only bother to see him for 1 hour a week"

He beams when he sees my mum cos she actually makes an effort to come and see him more often and plays with him etc.

And then my FIL said he thinks little man is gonna be stocky.... like wtf!! He's 4 months old.

@anony1111 I use scissors, I've got the curved ones. Find it best to do when sleeping or after a bottle.

@Cheetocat DD has 3, sometimes 4 naps.

@CheeseAndCrackersx I had rage with my in laws with my first and got it again.
FIL asked how her name was spelt the other day, felt like saying look at the last text you sent me where you said her name.

CheeseAndCrackersx · 10/06/2024 10:50

& MIL kept asking will little man be vegetarian 🙄 just cos she is and so is my partner, I'm a flexitarian & I only eat like that at home cos it's cheaper food shop wise and easier cooking wise.

It's like he'll be what he wants to be.
I feel like I'm gonna be judged by her badly if he did eat something with meat in it when the time comes.

I'm starting to find little man is taking more of his bottle when he's in the bedroom away from too much light and distractions, would I be able to cover his head loosely I mean with a muslin cloth or something when we're in the living room or out to lessen the light etc

Wouldn't be any different from using a nursing cover, I don't think, doubt it would do any harm.

RachLeeds · 11/06/2024 05:35

Thanks for the new thread! ☺️

My hair started falling out at 3 months, I’ve had to buy drain unblocker for the bath x2 it was that bad… 🥲

16 week jabs today for us and the teething has been terrible the last two days 🙃

LavenderSweetPea · 11/06/2024 06:28

@CheeseAndCrackersx I agree with @Cheetocat there's no problem using a muslin to cover them while feeding - it's what everyone used to do while bf out and about for modesty purposes before it became more acceptable to just the have you boob out 😂

@RachLeeds I'm feeling so sad about my hair loss, I also had to use drain unblocker in the shower just yesterday. I've got terrible thin hair anyway it's just making my self conscious so much worse

Ihatewinding · 11/06/2024 10:03

Thanks for the new thread ☺️

@Cheetocat that sounds really hard, feeding struggles are the worst as that's pretty much the main job for babies this age. Have you tried going dairy free for a trial to see if that helps? I'm dairy and soy free and whilst we still have wind, reflux, nursing strikes, etc. it's much less and this baby is a much happier baby than my first who I think had permanent belly ache until she went onto hypoallergenic formula just before 6 months. We had to contact nap until then as she hated being flat due to wind/reflux.
You say yelps and delatches, do you have fast letdown? Can help to spray off a bit into a muslin if it's overwhelming them.

We've struggled with slow letdown, or letdown that's slow to come this past week or so, was for a feed after his omeprazole so always made him wait 30 mins+ like you're meant to but then this meant he was too impatient for the letdown to come and started rejecting the boob for that feed. Then the stress made it spread to other feeds as stress inhibits letdown, I did really well there 🙈 switched up the timings for the meds and slowly getting there now after having to pump for a bit to get the letdowns and after he tanked my supply!

Starting to wean off the swaddle for day naps now as he was fighting it and also reckon he will roll in the next few weeks. Going okay so far but will say we go against advice and put him to sleep in pram on his side with Rock it on as it's what got him sleeping independently after 3 months of sling/contact naps. Wasn't coping with that so supervise closely and used Owlet to check sats when side sleeping and I'm happy with our decision, couldn't cope when had our 3 year old as well 😪 I've got postpartum SPD/PGP again as well so just wasn't sustainable as he was getting heavier.

Ihatewinding · 11/06/2024 10:17

@anony1111 I have postpartum SPD/PGP. I had it for 2 years with my first until lost some weight (2+ stone) and started exercising to strengthen my core, etc. also helped my first was walking much more independently and needed much less carrying by then. Had it bad in that pregnancy then had her in sling for nearly first 6 months, including a daily hour long walk quite early on which likely contributed.

This baby's pregnancy I started with twinges at 5/6 weeks in pubic bone honestly (it had only been gone 8 months tbf). I'm under physio from during pregnancy (got referred at booking! 😅) and this time made sure to follow up postpartum as can't be dealing with another 2 years of this again! Got an appointment today actually and have found the specific exercises helpful, though I think a significant part of recent improvement is due to fact got him napping in pram these past few weeks so don't have his weight bearing through pelvis much anymore. When he's unsettled and needs carrying around more I can feel it more then.

I would defo recommend getting to the GP and asking for a women's health physio referral. And weight loss if you're carrying pregnancy weight or heavier in general will also help, but so hard when sleep deprived and need energy to get through the day! I've lost half a stone since the baby and water weight gone, got 2.5 more to go 🫠 last time I got COVID 18 months postpartum and lost a stone really easily then had reduced appetite so next one wasn't too hard. Got to do it the proper way this time haha 😅 helps put less weight through pelvis basically.
