Merry Christmas all 🎄

Hi, hope you had a good Christmas too!

We seriously need to get rid of some toys, especially if the kid is getting more for his birthday in just over a month. 🙈 My home has more bin trucks and fire engines than I can count..

We stopped I'd say about 2 month ago.
she had enough of it 😂

Happy new year! Can't believe they're all about to turn two already!

Cheetocat · 22/01/2026 19:24

What's everyone doing for their child's 2nd birthday? My little one loves the music from Moana so we're doing a Moana/Maui theme with just some family and close friends at the in-law's house. I'm baking the cake myself which I'm nervous about! For his gift we're probably going to just get him a few tracksuits for playing at the park and a book. He got way too much during the Christmas season that it was overwhelming!

DmcinT · 22/01/2026 19:32

@CheeseAndCrackersx hi there, I haven’t been on here in an age, I’m back in the trenches of 9-10 dpo and holding back the urge to test early 😅😂 so please god we’ll be giving LO a wee brother or sister for her birthday lol

but yeah I think we’ll just do a low key party with close family, grandparents and few cousins. Presents wise it’s hard isn’t it so close to Christmas l, it’s same here, so many toys. I think I’ll get her a wee table and chairs as she needs that for eating/ drawing etc now (wouldn’t go in a high chair the last few months)

wondering do others have LOs in their own beds now?

msp2023 · 22/01/2026 22:29

Hi everyone!
Can’t believe we’re hitting the two year mark :)
Small Party at home this year with small gifts - arts and crafts bits, some books etc. Christmas was very gift heavy!

I’m also bursting to tell someone so I guess I’ll put it here because we’re still waiting for our early scan… but have tested positive 🥰🥰 trying not to worry about it too much and just take each day as it comes (can’t help but repeat tests every few days…)
@DmcinTsending baby dust and love your way 💗

Also interested in the question re: beds! We are solid co-sleeping atm but want this to change to own bed/room especially all going well with new pregnancy x

DmcinT · 23/01/2026 17:30

@msp2023 huge congrats 🥳 such lovely news, will u be a sept or oct due date?

we are the same with beds, have coslept since night 1 and still breast feeding so have to think how we’ll untangle this and possibly get her into her own bed and not feeding throughout the night (comes with so much emotion so it’s tricky) but if second bay is on the way there’s just no way I can keep this up so will have to try a bed of her own.
has anyone tried this yet and any tips?

msp2023 · 23/01/2026 17:52

@DmcinTNot sure yet as my cycles are so varied, I can’t predict it. Hoping early scan gives us some clarity next week :)

sounds tricky with the sleeping and BF - a big change for you all! I’m not looking forward to moving her out of our room :( I love the cuddles

Cheetocat · 23/01/2026 21:47

My little boy is still breastfeeding a couple of times a day, he's been in his own room since he was about 13 months old and sleeping through since a couple of months later after a lot of coaxing and patience. We're having a lot of trouble with nap and bed time right now, he skipped his nap today for the first time ever and he had bags under his little eyes. He falls asleep either on my lap or in his cot holding my hand usually but he has just been playing/singing and fighting to stay awake. He went to sleep at ten yesterday and the day before. If he naps tomorrow I'll probably cut it short and if not I don't know what we'll do.

DmcinT · 24/01/2026 10:44

@msp2023 had u been doing opks or trying or it just happened?

I tested this morning and def a BFN 😩 I’m prob day 11 so should have a faint line at this stage 🫣 but u never know, I had my BFP around 11 dpo with LG thou

@Cheetocat well done on getting him sleeping through the night with no feeds, not easy at all I’d say. I just know my lo would cry and cry if I tried that and I’m just not strong enough for it. Really hoping she weans herself but that’s prob unrealistic

It took a really long time but I started before he was one and I didn't let him cry. For example if he was normally up three times a night I'd avoid offering milk during one wake while he was at his sleepiest, trying to get him used to settling without it. He did become dependant on patting and shushing and rocking for a long time but I was able to tone that down too. Every big change takes a really long time to do in a gentle way so every little change you make does contribute, even if it's just cutting a feed short or whatever!

We're on day two of no nap, I really don't want this to be our new routine..

DmcinT · 24/01/2026 17:08

@Cheetocat yeah I prob need to start with just small wee bits like that and maybe in a few months I’d be able to do something past 8pm 😅 but then if I’m pregnant I’ll be dyin to go to bed at that time lol

that is tough going on no nap, we had one day of it just before Christmas and it was an exhausting day, we were all fit for bed by 6pm 😂 I dread the thought of the change to no nap but I do think it can happen at any stage now too.

I actually just noticed I’m only 9 dpo maybe 10 at most so I’m deff testing too early 🫣

CheeseAndCrackersx · 25/01/2026 16:22

Hi all :)
we’re so entering the big stages now, I was still giving my little one a bottle prior to nap and bed but he’s started to not want it like that, so it’s been cuddles and then down in his cot. I miss those longer milky cuddles already 🥹 but also so proud of him. He’s also been telling me a lot when he has pooed so I’m starting to wonder about trying the potty soon, what do you all think?

Im planning on trialing him in a bed rather than his cot from about May but thats only because we go on holiday in June and I know from last year that he was the length of the travel cot then so I know this year he’ll be too long to be comfortable enough in 1 so bed with a bed guard it will be 😊 so if we start it at home then hopefully he won’t be too bad on holiday but I could always jump in the other single bed if any problems 😊

Well done to your little one moving on from needing the milk!

My little boy is very in tune with his pee/poo feelings and has been for a few months but where we live it's way too cold indoors to have him in various states of undress for potty training. I'm planning to fully go for it in March/April when it's warm enough for him to not be too uncomfortable having his pants off all the time. I already got him tiny little boxers and tank top vests, I'm so excited for this next stage!

Sunshineclouds11 · 26/01/2026 10:16

I'm thinking March/april also for potty training.
she's showing a small interest and I've tried putting her on afew times but she just jumps off and says no so hopefully in couple of month she'll feel ready properly.

we also co sleep. Along with my 7 year old 🙈 I love them in my bed tbh as it's just us 3.

can't believe they are going to be 2 very soon!
my job this week is to get presents in

CheeseAndCrackersx · 26/01/2026 12:22

That’s a good idea to wait till it’s warmer to potty train, I didn’t even think like that. I’ll do it a similar time.

So this page is close to getting full would you like another creating? 😊

Some advice please ladies 😊

little man has started to sleep longer at night say 12-13 hours so nap time has pushed later to say 3 sometimes 4 and he’s napping longer too say 2.5 hours so as you can guess bedtime has gone later, like I put him down but sometimes he’s been taking over an hour to settle sometimes gone midnight then cos the length he’s sleeping he’s waking about 10:30-11.

A few times, yesterday included, after a half 11 wake up I skipped nap and put him to bed at 8 instead and he settled instantly & slept straight through til 10 or today was 11. So am I right in thinking dropping his nap will be the right idea for now. Cos if he’s able to sleep 14-15 hours straight a night then surely he doesn’t need that nap too

Mismatc · 02/02/2026 12:42

There are different ways to manage it @CheeseAndCrackersx — some drop naps, cap naps or just let it be completely child led and sleep when they are tired. My DD is sleeping 8pm-6am ish, or 7-5 usually with one wake (which is incredible for us and such a welcome change). However, she is struggling a bit more to sleep for naps. Trying to get her down now. She will sleep about 1.5 hours on a good day in a dark room but 45 minutes if out and about.

Sounds like you have a high sleep needs LO which sounds lovely, haha. I’d probably have to wake them up in the morning for school runs and work which would leave them tired for an earlier nap and bedtime, I imagine. If you can be flexible, just do what you feel is best for you all

Regarding potty training, we’ve gone for it. She’s been “lazy elimination communication” since birth and bottom half naked at home for a long time. We’d like her to be pretty solid on potty training before the 4th arrives in May/ June, fingers crossed

Maybe we should make our next thread in the birth clubs forum rather than the pregnancy forum?

My little boy was the same, managing to sleep longer at night but then not tired enough to have a nap earlier in the day. He used to nap 3 hours and sleep 11 hours at night from 8pm. Now he is dropping the nap and sleeping around 12.5 or 13 hours at night from 7pm. I'm happy with that though I miss being able to get stuff done during nap time. I'd say go for it if your little one can manage staying awake!
