DS is still next to me in his bedside crib, he’s growing fast though. I’m going to be sad when we need to move him out.

He’s also finding his voice. He was as surprised as me when he did a shriek, so encouraging him to do different sounds / noises rather than the shriek, which he seems to love - gargling his milk is a new favourite!! Those encouraging screaming are brave haha

Anyone else exclusively breastfeeding and still feeding on demand? My LO is 4.5 months and still feeds every two hours or less, he was born on the 50th centile for both height and weight and is now on the 75th for length and 91st for weight and is in 9-12 month clothing, I’m worried I’m overfeeding him. I know they say you can’t overfeed a BF baby but he’s absolutely massive and if he keeps growing at this rate he’ll be in 12-18 month clothes before he’s six months

How are people getting on with house work?

DC1 is at school so he's fine, but DD wakes at the tiniest sound, she won't nap in her cot in the day.

House is going to shit. I don't have the energy once they're down the night to do it and whilst she'll happily watch she only lasts so long.

ProudMummyxo · 09/07/2024 21:20

Sick of being made to feel like I'm just nagging when asking for help from partner. I may aswel just be a single mum.

2boysandmee · 09/07/2024 21:31

@Sunshineclouds11 I'm not is the answer! Just about keeping up with the essentials like laundry, tidying round and a quick clean. My house has gone to shit too so you're not the only one.

@ProudMummyxo so sorry you are feeling like this, I felt like this with DC1 and it can be so stressful! Have you tried sitting down and speaking to your partner about how you're feeling?

Meeting · 09/07/2024 22:02

@Sunshineclouds11 Have you tried a high chair yet? Mine will happily sit in there whilst I clean the kitchen or cook dinner as long as I'm chatting to her.

@ProudMummyxo

Sunshineclouds11 · 09/07/2024 22:10

@Meeting I'm getting one this month ready for weaning so will try.
I do have a chair for her that she goes in but only happy for so long but may be happier in a high chair.

@2boysandmee my standards have dropped massively and it's annoying me 😂

2boysandmee · 09/07/2024 23:10

@Sunshineclouds11 I feel you! It really gets on my wick! Could do with another pair of arms or maybe a cleaner would be better 🤣
I feel like I have to do everything at 100mph before LO loses his shit 🤣

Sunshineclouds11 · 10/07/2024 09:13

@2boysandmee a cleaner would be amazing. But I feel I would have to clean abit more they came 😂
Same 😂 she must get sick of me singing

That doesn’t sound too frequent for EBF, so definitely don’t worry. My 5 month old is combination fed and average is 2 hours between feeds.

I use his naps but anything noisy I do when DH home from work, or try to do it while he’s entertained in bouncer. I have a cleaner for 4 hours once a week - and I still seem to spend whole day tidying and cleaning. It would be horrible without the cleaner and then it would literally be all I do.

Thewildthingsarewithme · 10/07/2024 16:34

@newmumabouttown that’s reassuring, thanks ☺️ I thought we would be up to 3 or 4 hourly now!

Mismatc · 10/07/2024 19:14

@Thewildthingsarewithme I feel like I’m constantly feeding! At least 2 hourly in the day and usually at least 2 hourly in the night as well. The maximum she has ever gone is 3 hours and that’s only happened a few times. She’s gone from 50th to 91st centile as well 🙃

I actually had to take a break from reading the thread for a bit because hearing how much the other babies were sleeping was difficult. I’ve always been more of a “every baby is unique and we’re all on our own journey” but I was so exhausted and still am lucky to get a single 2 hour block of sleep after 5 months. I always wanted a fourth child but I think she may have broken me!

Meeting · 10/07/2024 20:46

@Mismatc that sounds so tough, I take my hat off to you! I apologise if I was one of the culprits x

Have you spoken with the doctor or a feeding specialist? They may be able to help as if she’s gaining weight so significantly, I wonder if she is “feeling” hungry so can’t do long sleeps?

Mismatc · 11/07/2024 08:46

@Meeting very sweet of you, we’re all here to share and hear the experiences of each other so nothing to apologise for 😊

She’s been such an unsettled baby that I’m now cows milk and soya free and she has also been on gaviscon and lansoprazole throughout the course of her little life. Seeing a dietician next week as well.

Mismatc · 11/07/2024 08:46

@newmumabouttown did you have a thought in mind as to why that may be?

Gosh babies are all so different and could be any number of reasons, or none at all. I have zero experience but just from reading a few things, worst case scenario it could be thyroid related (extremely unlikely but the rapid weight gain and hunger made me wonder that), or perhaps a feeding habit had developed (if just a habit, a sleep coach may be able to help wean out the night feeds, as there is no weight issue to cut them out so could just be behavioural and not health related).

msp2023 · 12/07/2024 14:55

Anyone prepping for weaning soon?

We're 24 weeks in a few days and little one can hold her head steady / grab things into her mouth.

I know NHS says the third point is that they can swallow food rather than spit it out.. how are we supposed to know that before starting weaning 🤨😂

Sunshineclouds11 · 12/07/2024 19:04

@msp2023 Yeah I've started getting bits in. I'm so excited 😂 I love this stage.

I have no idea regarding that point from NHS tbh, I went for it with my first (steady head etc) and he was fine.

ProudMummyxo · 12/07/2024 19:52

We have put up little man's high chair today so he can get used to going in it and so he can start sitting at the table with me and his dad so we can eat at a reasonable time not after his bedtime 😄

LavenderSweetPea · 12/07/2024 22:30

@msp2023 We're planning to start weaning at 26 weeks (which is in 10 days!) We've got the high chair set up to practice sitting every day, but so far baby can only manage ten minutes max before he gets upset.

I've bought all the bibs, plates, cups, cutlery etc. I'm so excited!

msp2023 · 12/07/2024 22:35

Awww so nice to hear how excited everyone is!
Good idea re getting them used to their high chairs. Should probably get one soon 😅 any recommendations?

We have the mamas and papas chair/booster seat which is fine for now but want a proper high chair too :)

Thewildthingsarewithme · 13/07/2024 08:11

@Mismatc thanks for this, obviously don’t want you to have worries too but nice to know there’s someone in the same boat! My first had allergies to cows milk and soya too so I cut those from my diet which was really tough, that combined with the regular feeding must be so difficult. He did stretches of four hours at this point so I feel like I’ve still got a newborn in some ways. I really hope it gets a bit easier for both of us soon xxx

LavenderSweetPea · 13/07/2024 11:38

@msp2023everyone seems to recommend the trip trap high chairs, but our budget wouldn't stretch to it, so we got a hauck alpha instead. As far as I can tell they are basically the same and s third of the price. So far I'm really happy with it :)
