Pregnancy

Talk about every stage of pregnancy, from early symptoms to preparing for birth.

For anyone that has been following NatalieJane's big belly/no period/BFN's threads over the last couple of weeks, if you can take anymore, I need some more advice please.

Still no period, still BFN, still huge bellied, tried to get a doctors appointment this morning, but they were fully booked apparently, all the receptionist could offer was for me to take DS1 (inset day tomorrow) and DS2 to the surgery doorstep tomorrow morning at 8am, and the doctor might see me if he feels like it.

There is no way I can get there for 8am tomorrow, (I don't drive, buses don't start till 7.30, then I'd have to get from town to the doctors, at DS1's pace, I'd be pushing it to get there for 8.15) and there is no saying that I'll get a 'normal appointment for tomorrow judging by today's fiasco.

I am really sorry to start yet another thread about this, I feel like such a bloody drama queen, but I really don't know what to do.

Natalie, sorry haven't been following this, but how late are you?

When you were pg with ds2 you were 10/11 days late before you got a (faint) bfp weren't you? Also didn't you only disocver you were pg with ds1 at 8 weeks?

If you have a history of late pg results, it's still poss you could be pg. also cramping is quite common in early pregnancy.

xx

cheesesarnie · 03/04/2008 16:18

oh god nj!hope all gets worked out and all is ok!

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:19

No 9 days late with DS2, I have no idea how late I was when we found out about DS1, I had no idea then about cycles or anything, I could have been anything, though from the scan dates I think I worked it out that I found out around 6 weeks (but hadn't been testing every day or anything, just realised I hadn't had a period for a while so I tested IYKWIM?)

Forgot (again!) it isn't like period type cramps (which I did have on the day period was due) it is honestly like BH, the way it starts so low down and then works it's way upwards.

I am not suggesting it is BH BTW, just what it feels like.

Godd luck tomorrow and don't leave the drs until they get you a scan sorted out.

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 16:23

Good even. Do you have an epu near you? You should be able to self refer to them.

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:24

I am not going to leave until they do something - anything!!! There is no way I can face another weekend of not knowing, without at least something going on in the back ground to help us find out!

OP posts:
NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:25

I don't know if our local hospital has an EPU, it should do, it's huge... not sure that's much of an answer though?!!

NJ from about 15 weeks onwards I didn't get a positive hpt, I obv panicked , don't know what made me do it. I think I might have cleaned out a cupboard and found one languishing at the back. I'm sure we've all done it

Anyway the point is, it sounds and looks very much like a pg.

I don't think I would go to the GP's but would go down to the hospital, not to A&E, but to the early preg assess unit.

Explain to the m/w there what the history of the problem is, they will at least have a feel for a fundal height, listen with a doppler for a heartbeat.

If there is no pg then by all means go to the GP, at least you'll know asap whether you are or not.

love to ya x

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:31

Don't EPU's close after office hours?

Besides if I am pregnant from last period, no doppler or scan for that matter would show it up, I really don't think I am pregnant from the MC, I think I'd have known, something would have given the game away.

They are open late.

The history of your condition does not sound straightforward NJ.

I think you need to see someone this evening

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 16:34

At 4 weeks something would show on a scan, even just a sac but there would be something, an internal scan.

You could well still be pregnant from Jan though.

Give hospital a call and see if they have en epu, it should have as it's large, as you say.

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 16:35

I agree you should be seen today.

pooka · 03/04/2008 16:35

Apart from the bump?
Honestly NJ, I think you must have nerves of steel waiting. If I were you I would be at A&E. Something is happening, your abdomen is swollen and you are having strange sensations. Your doctor's surgery have been useless and unhelpful.
I would cut them out of the equation.

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:41

I have to go and get to school for DS1's parent's evening, I will try and ring the hospital when I get back see if they have an EPU, and what time it's open till, and of course if they'll see me.

Can't hurt can it?

Will obviously be back on here bleating about whatever happens when I can

Thanks everyone

Hello NJ sorry for jumping in but what does your gut feeling tell you?

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 16:43

NJ you do realise we're all sitting here in suspence!

squack · 03/04/2008 16:47

god I must get the tea on.

be back this evening

blimey NJ when you start threads you really start threads doncha?

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:47

Gem, gut feeling is saying nothing seriously medically wrong, but then I don't have any feeling of pregnancy either.

LOL Jodie, you will know, when I know (well when I can get to the PC!)

Really must go, PE in 10 minutes!

NJ, I'm 21wks and your tummy is as big as mine! I also have tightenings. Don't want to get your hopes up but it could be a surviving twin and an anterior placenta could hide any movements.
A GP should be able to feel with a quick internal if you are more than 5wks pg - I wouldn't bother trying to reach the EPU.
Don't leave until you've had your fanjo examined!
Good luck.

squack · 03/04/2008 20:20

well?
any news?

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 20:28

Hope you're ok.

MamaG · 03/04/2008 20:31

NJ I didn't know about this - hope you're ok chuck

looneytune · 03/04/2008 21:16

Just read this. Not seen any of your other threads but I can see why everyone thinks you should get seen asap. My sister was sterilised in Sept and about a month later discovered she was pregnant. As she was extremely hormonal very early on and the fact she'd had the op, they decided she'd be checked for possible ectopic. They said that if between tests she got any pain in one side, that she should go back to the hospital. I told her to watch out for shoulder tip pain and would you believe.....she got it but ignored it as 'Dr didn't mention shoulder pain'. I nagged and nagged (don't live near her) her to go to the hospital and was very worried but she still didn't want to bother them. Then she woke up after a sleep and could hardly move and pain much worse. I demanded she went immediately but she waited til her dp was back from work and he took her. Next thing she's being rushed in for emergency op and told that had she gone an hour or so later, she may not have made it! Bloody NHS

Don't know what made me say all that....basically SOMETHING is making your belly like that and you need to get to the bottom of it. I'm so on your behalf for the treatment you've had so far!!!

Please let us know how you're doing xx
