For anyone that has been following NatalieJane's big belly/no period/BFN's threads over the last couple of weeks, if you can take anymore, I need some more advice please.

Still no period, still BFN, still huge bellied, tried to get a doctors appointment this morning, but they were fully booked apparently, all the receptionist could offer was for me to take DS1 (inset day tomorrow) and DS2 to the surgery doorstep tomorrow morning at 8am, and the doctor might see me if he feels like it.

There is no way I can get there for 8am tomorrow, (I don't drive, buses don't start till 7.30, then I'd have to get from town to the doctors, at DS1's pace, I'd be pushing it to get there for 8.15) and there is no saying that I'll get a 'normal appointment for tomorrow judging by today's fiasco.

I am really sorry to start yet another thread about this, I feel like such a bloody drama queen, but I really don't know what to do.

I would ignore the nurse and follow your own instincts. Don't muck about with your health - it is not worth it. You clearly are worried or you wouldn't be on here posting about it, so as everyone else says, get yourself to A&E and get yourself seen to for once and for all. Even if it turns out to be nothing, at least you will have peace of mind (as will the rest of us!)

NOW GO!!!

motherinferior · 03/04/2008 12:53

Please just go to A&E, darling.

Agree, ignore the nurse and go! If nothing else it will put your mind at rest.

MegBusset · 03/04/2008 12:55

NJ please get to A&E if you can.

SIL had a stomach cyst a couple of years ago and her tummy was distended (she thought she might be pg). She had to have an emergency op and could have died if they hadn't caught it.

NHS Direct are crap and would ignore them tbh.

LadyOfWaffle · 03/04/2008 12:56

remember NHS direct aren't actually nurses or doctors (IFAIK) - they just ask specific Qs and go down their charts, so unless you are suffering with something obvious and have all the main symptoms, they don't really know. Did they offer a call back from a doctor or nurse? I often get those.

EffiePerine · 03/04/2008 12:56

Go to A&E. You need to get seen by someone soon and your GP is obv no co-operating.

francagoestohollywood · 03/04/2008 13:04

Yes, go to A&E. I think you should really have a scan. I think it's appalling that it's not possible to see a gynecologist without referral.

SparklyGothKat · 03/04/2008 13:05

i think its wrong that NJ wasn't scanned after the miscarriage.

morningpaper · 03/04/2008 13:21

I would ring the early pregnancy clinic and try to self-refer

Be slightly hysterically stressed on the phone (not too hard I should imagine)

morningpaper · 03/04/2008 13:25

Do you have any contacts in your local medical area? Friendly midwives or doctors or people at the hospital? Anyone who be help mediate or get you an appointment?

Buckets · 03/04/2008 13:38

I would get a cab/bus/lift to A&E, let your DH collect DS and pick you up later (no doubt you'll be there hours!)

TotalChaos · 03/04/2008 13:45

Having had a recent convo with an ambulance driver, the sort of nutters the pros mean are people that dial 999 because they've lost their keys, or their false teeth NOT people with concerning physical symptoms. Please don't worry about going to get checked out.

laserjet · 03/04/2008 13:46

I wasn't scanned after my m/c. Though I was meant to have a D&C as the blood tests results weren't doing what they were meant to do. Thank goodness for the woman who needed a section as it was then too late for my op and I still have my baby.

Now get to A&E!

nervousal · 03/04/2008 13:47

Ladyof Waffle - NHS Direct does employ nurses.

doggiesayswoof · 03/04/2008 13:52

NJ I've seen your other threads but not posted. Please just go to A&E!! Never mind the car in the garage etc. Your health is more important.

You don't need to be referred to A&E by NHSD. you are obviously worried sick about this so go & get it checked out and stop the excuses

No one on here can give you any answers - you know that by now I guess

And then change your GP - they are total crap.

cheerfulvicky · 03/04/2008 14:26

Hello sweetie,
I've looked at your pic and I think you should go to A&E as well. Explain your situation and they should help you. I think you need answers, and then as others have said need to change your GP! Sheesh, what incompetant tits they all sound at your doctors.
You have good thoughts coming from me, now be brave and go and get the answers you need. Take kids if necessary - this matters!

NorthernLurker · 03/04/2008 15:31

GO TO A&E! The people at BHS haven't seen you, your GP hasn't given you any time at all but going by the photo there is something going on with you which is not normal - and it needs to be checked. Who cares what the A&E staff might think - they can't turn you away and you will get some answers.

Your GP's response of suggesting painkillers without the least idea what's wrong with you is worthy of a complaint btw - but let's get you sorted first!

NorthernLurker · 03/04/2008 15:32

Ok - BHS should read NHS direct - interesting slip there

squack · 03/04/2008 15:34

I wonder how she's getting on

NJ U should definately get yourself looked at by someone.
I hope you are getting it sorted as we speak.
My thoughts have been with you for a few days now since i first saw the picture, every morning i logged on looking for your post to say BFP.....
Go to A&E if thats what it takes to get to the bottom of this.

Jacanne · 03/04/2008 16:00

NJ there are a couple of midwives who are part of the "staff" of www.iwantmymum.com - I'd go and post on the pregnancy forum (which is free) and see what they have to say - you do look about 4 months gone and as someone said - is it possible you could still be pregnant from mc?

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 16:12

Sorry everyone, haven't had time to report back properly, I know you are all going to roll your eyes at me and think "FFS woman" but I really didn't want to go to A&E, so we have decided that DH (he seems to let his charm do the trick) is going to ring and ensure I get an appointment tomorrow at the GP's, it will be late afternoon though so DH can finish work early and take me down, and stay with the kids while I go in.

I am happier with this, as the nurse at NHSD(it was a nurse BTW, can't remember who asked now) said a period a couple of days late means not a lot really, so if it is still not here tomorrow it gives it that extra bit of time to show up.

Those asking if I could still be pregnant from the MC, obviously anything is possible but I really don't think so, I got a BFN a few weeks after the MC, and had all the BFN's this month, plus I'd have been close to 20 weeks by now, so I'd have been a lot bigger (going off DS2's pregnancy) plus feeling movements.

The only other development is that, and I know everyone is going to roll their eyes again, but I seem to be getting some sort of cramping, not painful at all, only thing I can describe it as being is like a braxton hick contraction, you know how it starts off getting tight low down then moves up over the bump? No idea what it is/means, but it is a very familar feeling. Am now wondering if perhaps I am pregnant, or was, and it is going to end in another MC?
