Still no period, still BFN, still huge bellied, tried to get a doctors appointment this morning, but they were fully booked apparently, all the receptionist could offer was for me to take DS1 (inset day tomorrow) and DS2 to the surgery doorstep tomorrow morning at 8am, and the doctor might see me if he feels like it.

There is no way I can get there for 8am tomorrow, (I don't drive, buses don't start till 7.30, then I'd have to get from town to the doctors, at DS1's pace, I'd be pushing it to get there for 8.15) and there is no saying that I'll get a 'normal appointment for tomorrow judging by today's fiasco.

I am really sorry to start yet another thread about this, I feel like such a bloody drama queen, but I really don't know what to do.

Did you have a scan after your m/c to make sure everything had gone?

what is the liklihood that you are pg?(and if you were, how far along would you be?)

btw your surgery sounds like a PITA, is thre another local one that is better that you could switch to?

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 12:04

I'm sure she said that she didn't have a scan to confirm, correct me if I'm wrong.

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 12:13

Have rang NHSDirect, they said I need to be seen today, to ring the GP's back, tell them I've spoken to NHSD, to see if that would swing it a bit, so I did, the receptionist went took vague details and went to speak to the doc. She rang me back saying that the doc said to take pain killers (it is not hurting at all) and go and see him tomorrow.... WTF??? I tried to see him today and I couldn't what happens if that happenes again?

Anyway, NHS Direct said to ring them back if I couldn't get an appointment today, so I am going to ring when I have calmed down a bit, think I might just swear out loud or cry, or both if I try and speak right now.

To answer questions, I didn't have a scan to confirm everything came away with the MC, MC was in January, my tummy did get big with the MC, but it went back to normal 2 weeks after the MC, periods have been normal since the MC, we are TTC our third, last period was 4th March, so I'd be what? A little over 4 weeks? That is obviously if I am pregnant.

Go to A&E, NJ.

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 12:17

Well I'll ring NHSD back first, they might be able to wangle me an emergency appointment with a different GP or something, maybe? I don't know if that sort of thing is even a possibilty?

I am too wound up to ring yet, give me a few minutes!

MerlinsBeard · 03/04/2008 12:18

i would go to A&E. You need to be seen, your GPs surgery is crap and they are in effect refusing to see you. you would probably need a scananyway so makes sense to be in the right place.

Now stop dithering and go!

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 12:20

You could still be pregnant from January. It's possible.

JodieG1 · 03/04/2008 12:21

Go to a&e as they may be able to scan you today. When I went in pregnancy with bleeding they scanned me the same day.

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 12:21

I can't go to A&E yet, DH is coming home at 1.30, our car is at the garage being serviced so he will have to get a taxi to the garage, pick the car up, get back here, by the time all of that is done, it will be about 2.30 DS1 needs picking up at 3, hospital is 20 minutes away so we would have to wait till DS1 has finished school, then go. But then we have DS1's parent's evening at 4.55, GRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR

I am going to ring NHSD back now.

I agree with Fio.

Ceolas · 03/04/2008 12:30

If you are ill, everything else can wait.

katepol · 03/04/2008 12:34

I do think a medical opinion is a good idea. Hwr, as I understand it, you have had several BFN's and even if you were 4 weeks pg, you would not have bump at all, let alone what your pics show. Unless you could still be pg following yout mc earlier this yr, I would have said that pg is unlikely.

I suspect your swollen belly is more likely to be bowel-related. I cerainly swell up sometimes and do look about 4-5 months pg on bad days. Sometimes I have bit of bowel spasm pain, but not all the time. I don't get constipated either.

So, fwiw, i would get a medical opinion, but I would prepare to be told it is gut related rather than gynae (all your gynae bits are lower down - your swelling is where your bowel is).

Good luck geting to see someone - the NHS can be very unhelpful sometimes and it is horrible to be left worrying in limbo...

Wisteria · 03/04/2008 12:34

Without being harsh NJ - everything before the but is bollocks

If NHSd don't have any better answers then I would go straight to A&E when dh gets home, he can pick ds up from school and if you're not home then attend PE on his own, it's not the end of the world if you miss one. Just get yourself seen today, no excuses.

Additionally make damn sure that A&E know that your doc refused to see you and prescribed pain killers with no evidence of pain - that is disgusting and I am appalled, shocked and angry on your behalf.

morningpaper · 03/04/2008 12:34

Agree, you can ring while crying

You can take children to A&E - ours have a nice room they can play in

You need to be seen ASAP

p.s. your GP is crap

Get in a taxi and go to A&E.
Let DH sort the children out.
Make a formal complaint about your GP surgery to the practise manager at a later date.

Really, you need to get this dealt with today - it has gone on for long enough.

pooka · 03/04/2008 12:38

Your GP is appalling.
Get dh to pick up your ds. Get in a cab or on a bus, and get to hospital. He can entertain your pil if you are late getting back from hospital.
I've looked at your photos and if I were you I would be getting checked out asap.
Good luck.

Just looked at your pics.

Either you are still pg (m/c one baby, still one in there) or you have something that really needs to be seen today

morningpaper · 03/04/2008 12:45

... or you need to do a LOT of sit ups

NatalieJane · 03/04/2008 12:47

So I rang NHD back, different nurse this time, and she made me feel about 4 years old, moaned at me for not seeing the GP though the MC, said as I have no pain, or any other symptoms she doesn't understand why the last nurse decided I needed to see someone today, told me to take another test in 4 days and if that is still BFN then to go to doctors.

I said should I not be worried about having a swollen belly for two weeks, she said because (again - huffily) that as I had no pain/vomiting/bowel probs/symptoms that she isn't worried at all, and if I wasn't happy with what she was saying I could go to A&E.

How can I go after that? I would end up being one of Fio's friends stories...

GP is now closed for lunch, won't re-open till 2.30.

I haven't been following but if you possibly can, get to a & e. Can anyone look after the kids? NHS direct said you needed to be seen to today didn't they? Is anyone near you?

sorkycake · 03/04/2008 12:48

3NAB I agree with you.

NJ if you didn't have a scan after your m/c can you be sure you aren't still pg from Jan?

I mean if you were 12 weeks rather than 4 weeks, you wouldn't get a positive pg test anyway would you? TBH you look about 4 months gone.

Either way they will examine you and most probably scan you too.

I would not trust your GP to do the exam and refer on tbh.

Ring NHS direct, explain about m/c and the lack of a scan and they will send you to A&E I'm pretty sure.
