I only just clocked I'll be fighting Cheltenham race week traffic to get to the hospital tomorrow for my scan...
Only adding to my anxiety that I'll miss it 🤦

But hey ho! Congrats on all the scans girls hope I can post a good photo tomorrow. I haven't had bloods yet for the testing - anyone know how quickly they come back?
Midwife said they'll do them afterwards but says nothing of the sort on my letter so that's not reassuring

Fik88 · 14/03/2024 22:13

I had my scan a week ago and they did bloods straight after scan, they asked me if i wanted the bloods and screening done. I got my letter today with results

As I’m a teacher, dh and I don’t go away on holiday very often because it’s so expensive not being able to take time off outside of school holidays (last time we went abroad was our honeymoon). I’ve said a few times it’d be nice to take advantage of maternity leave and do a couple of term time trips next year.

He just said to me, dead seriously, “So how old do you think baby will need to be so we can leave it with someone for a week? 6 months? Maybe 9 months?” I couldn’t stop laughing, and he was genuinely surprised when I said you don’t just leave them behind, you take them with you on holiday 😂

😭😭😭😂 this made me laugh. Imagine just dropping your 6 month old off to your parents whilst you go on a week all-inclusive to Lanzarote, as if it was your pet dog 😫😂

Lillers · 14/03/2024 22:26

@Honeyandsunshine1 That’s exactly what he was thinking, like how my mum came to stay at ours to look after our cat when we went on our honeymoon 😂😂😂😂

@Lillers love that so much hahaha. Made me chuckle ... They're super easy and at least free on these holidays! IMO anyway .. than when they're 5+ on a plane 😜

@Fik88 thank you I am hoping that'll be the case and I go and wait for bloods after a week ekkk.. these things always take so long! 😅

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 15/03/2024 05:40

Scan day for me today and I've been awake since 4:30 nervous 😬 also nervous for the bloods as at my booking in appt my midwife struggled to get blood, butchered my arm and I passed out. Looked like a right narna 🙈😂

Lillers · 15/03/2024 06:18

Good luck to everyone having scans today!

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I also passed out when I had my booking bloods done (never had an issue with it before, but apparently it can happen in pregnancy). Definitely nervous about having my next lot done and hoping they’ll be able to take them with me lying down!

Todays the day!
I'm terrified but trying to tell myself what will be, will be. Scan at 9am.
Good luck to the other mumma's who have their scan today xx

Fik88 · 15/03/2024 06:54

@longingtobe23 i know it does take a while, they did tell me it could take upto 2 weeks to get results unless something is wrong then they ring within a few days upto a week.

@BeautyAndTheBump1 they always struggle to take my blood, they can never find a good vien, even from my hands, i always have to be poked a few times and leave with bruises

luckyfaith · 15/03/2024 07:07

So lovely to see all the scans over the last few days 🥰 Good luck to those with scans today 🩷

rupertbear91 · 15/03/2024 07:09

Scan day for me too. Bit tilll 2:15pm I don't know how I will last. I have been awake all night with a horrible cough too which I'm sure I caught from EPU on Tuesday 😭

Good luck everyone

HRP1990 · 15/03/2024 07:21

Good luck for all the scans today 🫶🏼

hol92 · 15/03/2024 07:25

Ooo thank you @Honeyandsunshine1 I never actually understood the nub theory so thank you for the explanation 😃 I wonder how accurate it is! In my head it's a boy as we have so many boys in the family so I know a lot of the family are routing for a girl 😂 x

hol92 · 15/03/2024 07:25

Good luck to everyone today ❤️

Honeyandsunshine1 · 15/03/2024 07:26

@WinsandSam @BeautyAndTheBump1 @rupertbear91 Hope today goes well for you all 💜 sending you lots of positive vibes and good thoughts! Xxx

That’s ok! Ive literally only just properly “looked into it” this pregnancy. I had no interest (or idea with my first) for my last pregnancy’s 😂

Emmaev · 15/03/2024 07:50

Good luck in your scans today girls ❤️

Ive been feeling a pulse in my belly all last night , I googled to see if it might be the baby. But looks like it might be more all the blood in my system. Felt so sure it was baby. Was more on my side and by my belly button so may even be too high up. Wish this baby would just give me a sign haha

Decaffe · 15/03/2024 08:17

Good luck with all the scans today, what a busy week it’s been!

@Lillers so glad all was well!

Yes @Emmaev I feel like we’re in this strange phase now, still two months until the 20 week scan, in the meantime we just have to wait, no guarantee we will feel the baby any time soon, it’s a strange limbo! Especially as they’re not allowed to listen to the heartbeat at the 16 week check any more. I just have to hope everything is okay!

Emmaev · 15/03/2024 08:24

@Decaffe yes absolutely. We’ve got the reassurance of a 12 week scan, then it’s a huge amount of nothing until 20 weeks. Also i didn’t know you don’t hear the heartbeat at 16 weeks. Damn I was looking forward to that.

MudandMoet · 15/03/2024 08:38

@Decaffe @Emmaev I have also read just last week that they have stopped the heart beat check at the 16 week appt, apparently it's because a lot of MW we're struggling to find it and it was causing lots of unnecessary stress for the pregnant ladies. I have my 16 week check next Wednesday (I'll be 16+6) so will report back x

Caroline2023 · 15/03/2024 09:07

Congratulations on the lovely scans @hol92 @Butterfly2000 @Pickle2024

HRP1990 · 15/03/2024 09:33

That’s so interesting! I didn’t know that re the 16 week check. Mine is actually at 18 weeks as my midwife is away for 2 weeks 🙃 so perhaps as I’m further along then, she’ll check the heart beat then? 🤞🏻

Fik88 · 15/03/2024 09:54

So i got my results back from screening for down syndrome, edwards and patau they are all classed as low risk.
Down syndrome was 1 in 5000 but edwards and patau was 1 in 380 still low risk but it still worried me a bit. Did anyone else get something similar?
