In the words of Collins from MAFS Australia: “What. A. DAY!”

We got the NHS scan sorted - went to the hospital and to the ultrasound reception. No wonder they never answer the phones - they don’t even ring! Anyway, they have changed the dating scan to next Wednesday, so I can relax on my weekend away with my family. They said they’ve texted me with appointments, but nothing arrived. I checked my number on their system, and I get all my other antenatal and GP appointments through fine, so I definitely think there’s an issue at their end.

Then we had our private scan - and baby is real! I haven’t just been imagining being pregnant all this time! They were very bouncy, using my uterus as a trampoline in the words of the sonographer. Heartbeat is strong and baby is measuring 12+3 (I thought I was 11+6, so a few days ahead). I cannot even describe the relief!

Edited

Aww, super pleased for you! 🥹 hope you manage to get the illusive appointment text though soon 🤞🏻 x

SC126 · 13/03/2024 19:35

@Lillers gorgeous scan photo and now you can relax a bit on your weekend knowing everythings fine.

HolyMoly24 · 13/03/2024 19:35

@Lillers stop ittttt I can't cope with Collins 🤦🏻‍♀️

So glad your scan went well and that you were able to rearrange your nhs scan. You can relax and enjoy your weekend away now!

I still don't actually believe there's a baby there either, I'll believe it when I see it!

Caroline2023 · 13/03/2024 19:40

@Lillers lovely scan. Glad you have your nhs scan booked now.

@Demi55 congratulations 😍

Thank you @Cinai @MudandMoet @rupertbear91 @hol92 @HRP1990

Best of luck with yours tomorrow @hol92 and yours on Friday @rupertbear91

LSW82 · 13/03/2024 20:18

Had my scan today, thankfully saw a wee wriggly baby kicking away. Unfortunately I’m only 11 weeks (which I kinda thought as I know I ovulated really late), so baby was too small to do all the checks - got an appointment next Thursday so hopefully all can be done then. Congratulations to all the recent scans & good luck to those got them coming up - I was so nervous before mine today!

WinsandSam · 13/03/2024 21:38

@Lillers
Great news about your scan! Must feel less surreal now!

I've had similar with my nhs experience. Never got a letter or text with appointments. Called up and was told I was booked in for a scan and then consultant appointment this Friday at 9am. I'd have missed it if I hadn't called them. They have my correct number and address and nothing! Terrible.

I'm nervous for mine Friday but trying to remain hopeful x

MrsM89 · 13/03/2024 22:02

@Lillers great news and lovely scan. Xx

hol92 · 14/03/2024 06:58

Great news @Lillers and a lovely scan photo :) hope you have a lovely weekend and can relax knowing all is well 🥰

fleur89 · 14/03/2024 08:17

Anyone else feeling movement super early? I've been feeling it since around 11-12 weeks, now 14.5 weeks and it's very obvious (although I still have to lie down in a quiet space and concentrate hard). I'm very slim, it's my second pregnancy and I've a posterior placenta - apparently all of these factors contribute. Super grateful to be feeling this as it helps bridge the gaps between scans

Yes!! From about 13 weeks. I’m not slim 🤣 but my third pregnancy. I have never dated say out loud that I’ve felt movement for the past few weeks as I know nobody will believe me, but it’s a deniable feeling isn’t it? X

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 14/03/2024 09:43

That's so exciting that you're both feeling movement already! With my first I felt movement just before 16 weeks - I read you can often feel movements earlier with 2nd/3rd/etc pregnancies so I'm already hoping I get to feel it earlier this time!

On another note I have my dating scan tomorrow, starting to feel very nervous. Anyone else got theirs coming up soon? I know lots have already had them by now!

MudandMoet · 14/03/2024 09:46

Ahh lovely @lillers 🫶🏻 so pleased the private scan went well. Have a fab weekend with your nearest and dearest and I hope the sickness keeps at bay so you can really enjoy it xx

Congrats @Demi55 on your scan too, another lovely milestone reached xx

@Honeyandsunshine1 @fleur89 ah I love that you're feeling your little wriggly babies already, it must be lovely and slightly reassuring too. I'm 16 weeks today so hoping to feel a bit of something soon. I feel huge today, my bump is definitely bumping now!

WinsandSam · 14/03/2024 11:46

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I also have my scan tomorrow. Feeling super anxious due to having brown discharge for past week. Medical professionals don't seem concerned but I am!

So yes, like you I am nervous. Hope all goes well for you!

rupertbear91 · 14/03/2024 11:58

It's my scan tomorrow afternoon too. I'm really nervous and hoping my partner makes it as he has another hospital appointment an hour away in the morning and neither hospital would adjust our appointments to make it work for him 🤦🏽‍♀️

Ptfcangel · 14/03/2024 12:20

Had my 12 week scan this morning and measuring 13 + 1.
had such a full bladder and it was the first thing I saw on the screen was horrified thinking it was an empty sac until the midwife laughed and said you weren’t joking about s fully bladder 🤣🙈 baby wriggling about like mad not behaving for them at all 🤣
I’m pretty sure they’re hiding the nub but anyone have an guesses anyway 🤣

Honeyandsunshine1 · 14/03/2024 12:32

Undeniable** apologies 😂

@BeautyAndTheBump1 aww, I hope it goes well! And keep us updated 💜 Ours was so “unmagical” 😭😂 upside baby, struggle for measurements, and a sonographer who spoke to quietly I didn’t hear half the things she said. Still just waiting on the bloody NIPT results though.. will feel like I can properly “relax” then 🫠

@MudandMoet Yeah, I did mention it to the sonographer at my NIPT and they just laughed saying “no it’s too early” and I was a bit like, this is why I didn’t ever want to verbalise it. But it’s a particular feeling you can’t mistake. Kind of like a rolling pin being turned on its side. I imagine you’ll be able to feel yours really soon! I felt my eldest at about 18 weeks I think? I’d have to check his baby book as I documented EVERYTHING lol. Please keep us updated 💕

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 14/03/2024 12:54

@WinsandSam I've read before that brown is fine as its old - its still hard not to worry about everything though isnt it! What time is your scan? How far along are you expecting to be?

@rupertbear91 oh no what are the odds of them being on the same day! Fingers crossed for you that he makes it in time! How far along are you expecting to be?

@Ptfcangel such lovely scan photos! That's funny about the full bladder 😂

@Honeyandsunshine1 oh no! 😂I had a similar experience with my first born i couldn't hear anything the sonographer was saying and I was too shy/nervous to keep asking them to repeat 😂

WinsandSam · 14/03/2024 12:58

@BeautyAndTheBump1 yes I have also read and been told that. Then stupidly looked online at some horror stories as you do. Just trying to chill today.
My scan is at 9am so not long to wait. How about you?

rupertbear91 · 14/03/2024 13:26

@BeautyAndTheBump1 thanks he's going to turn up super early and hope they see him on time! I had a scan 2 weeks ago and based on that tomorrow I should be 13 weeks so hoping I'm still measuring ok 🤞🤞🤞

hol92 · 14/03/2024 14:01

Now on my way to my scan and just seen the letter says no children allowed but we have no childcare for my baby and hes on the car on the way with us, my husband is abit upset that he won't get to come into the scan now as obviously took the afternoon off work especially, has anyone else bought kids in? Wasn't sure if it was a strict rule or not, honestly didn't think it would be a problem x

TTCSoManyQuestions88 · 14/03/2024 14:15

For the ladies that are exercising and also @SantasRubiksCube . I went to the dr and a physio for my recent horrendous pelvic pain. It turns out I caused it to myself by doing single leg exercises. I've been happily doing my usual workouts, resistance training and weights mostly, and last time I worked out I had done a few single leg exercises (single leg squats, deadlifts, side lunges etc) and physio said that they are an absolute No No in pregnancy! Because your joints are more loose you can actually move your pelvis out of place and the muscles will respond and stiffen up hence the pain in your pelvic area....

I'm on full rest until Monday and then I can start exercising again.

SC126 · 14/03/2024 14:18

@hol92 sadly I think all hospitals policies state no children. All you can do is turn up and ask and hope.

Ptfcangel · 14/03/2024 14:44

At my scan today there were loads of kids running around the waiting room and lots of people coming in with prams etc. maybe phone the desk when you arrive and just say you hadn’t realised and see if they’ll let you?
i did say to my partner that i thought it would be quite upsetting if you were there for bad news and surrounded by the kids we were but can’t always be helped!

Wanderlust86 · 14/03/2024 15:17

Congratulations on all the recent scans!

I found out today that we are having a baby girl!! 🥰🥳 I obviously would have been so happy either way but I secretly wanted a girl. She was measuring bang on 15w4d that nhs had me at too except for her legs. The sonographer said she will be tall with long legs as they were measuring a week ahead.
My partner doesn't know yet as he's working. I've bought the cutest little baby girl outfit and will wrap it up for him coming home. I also found non alcoholic espresso martinis in sainsburys to celebrate.

Good luck for all the scans coming up!

HRP1990 · 14/03/2024 15:29

Congrats @Wanderlust86! 💕💕 (and omg non alcoholic espresso martinis!? Report back!)

@LSW82 @Ptfcangel glad your scans went well girls!

@TTCSoManyQuestions88 I did not know this! I’ve just been carrying on as normal with reformer Pilates, but you always do single left then single right leg etc depending on what you’re doing.. Was that advice re pelvic pain or pregnancy in general?
