@TripleESept24 where is your placenta and is it your first? With my first I had an anterior placenta and didn’t feel her until 21 weeks. Annoyingly anterior placenta again this time for me

Martibum · 22/03/2024 19:18

@xenababy awww I'm also having mono/di twins! My sickness has eased and I have a good appetite again. I'm 16 weeks and 2 days. I had more tiredness than anything else. My bump is uncomfortable already but I'm petite and I think that's not helping!
How are feeling about the news? I am based in Ireland so things might be slightly different but I have my first twin clinic this Tuesday. Then scans every 2 weeks to check for TTS.

Oh and it's my second however I had my daughter 20 years ago I was 17/18 and I just can't remember anything!! 😪

Kate543 · 22/03/2024 19:38

They told me at my 12 week scan, but I asked this time because last time I freaked out so much that I read other people were feeling movement at 16 weeks and I didn’t feel a thing. I also heard you are supposed to feel it earlier the second time around although still nothing for me yet, I’m 16+5 and trying to be more chill this time! Anyway don’t worry too much because it’s still early days :) fingers crossed we feel them soon as it’s so reassuring

Lillers · 22/03/2024 20:13

First day after running out of cyclizine - I want to see how I feel for a couple of days before going to get more to see if I’m getting past the sickness anyway.

I was ok for most of the day but definitely more queasy this evening. Not as bad as when the sickness was at its worst, so hoping it is easing off.

I've totally popped at week 13 and I'm going on a week long work conference in US. My boobs are huge so 'tent effect' is real. Only told my manager and one other stakeholder I align to so far. Cat will be well and truly out the bag with 2,000 employees there. I don't think I've ever let anything stress me out so much! I've only been back from maternity leave 8 months and I've recently been promoted so I know it will be a gossip topic. Sooner I go, sooner I can get back :) just hoping someone has words of wisdom.

Has anyone gone through starting a new job during pregnancy? I’m 15 weeks today and sadly my current role comes to an end next week (temporary contact not extended). I was very lucky to get a job offer yesterday in a new company but feel so guilty that they don’t know I’m pregnant and that I won’t be able to be around for long (annoyingly this role is a maternity cover itself so I’ll be looking for work again post birth when I’m ready to go back). They were lovely people which makes me feel even worse and isn’t helping with the stress of finding a new job and the money worries as I won’t be entitled to anything more than maternity allowance.

I feel we should have a support group on here for working mums who are starting a new role pregnant, either a new company or promotion. It can feel so lonely, if it's a maternity cover you have nothing to feel guilty about. They will simply need to find a shorter contracter to cover you when you go.

Emmaev · 22/03/2024 21:06

@TripleESept24 Ive only just started feeling baby move, I felt it properly yesterday at 16+4, I also felt my daughter properly at 16 weeks. So I didn’t end up feeling baby any earlier this time despite it being my second.
When I spoke to my sister though she said she didn’t feel my nephew until 20 weeks

Demi55 · 22/03/2024 21:07

Hey! Has anyone else had screening results back?We got 1/2900 for Down syndrome and 1/5000 for the others. I thought the chances would be lower, what is everyone else’s?

Is anybody else getting really bad leg and ankle cramping at night? I thought it was third trimester/ further down the line! As soon as I lay down in bed it starts and it's every single night 😭😭😭 I get to sleep then wake up with it 😪

LSW82 · 22/03/2024 22:21

@WinsandSam that’s amazing news, & good you got them through before the weekend

ForeverHopeful67 · 22/03/2024 22:35

Evening ladies!

Hope everyone is doing okay 🥰 sorry I've been a bit quite lately, this baby is really draining every bit of my immune system 😩 pair that with a toddler who loves to share her germs it's not been a fun few weeks!

I've been having this awful pain in my gums/jaw the last few weeks which initially was thought to be an infected wisdom tooth but two weeks on antibiotics and the pain is still here! On top of that I now have a chest infection 🤦‍♀️ moooore antibiotics! What happened to this second trimester glow 🤣

On a lighter note I've definitely been feeling baby move over the last week or so (16 weeks now) which is amazing as last time I had an anterior placenta so it was much later!

nervouslyawaiting · 22/03/2024 23:27

@SC126 No they wouldn’t be, I think that’s what makes me feel so guilty but then I also know that I need the job for our family and didn’t have much luck elsewhere (baby brain hit me in some earlier interviews)

@TripleESept24 it does and such a worry to a lovely time. Part of me thinks lots of employers would drop their employees without a second thought (my current one) but then I also know I don’t want to burn any bridges as I really like the new employer at interview. There’s a great calculator online that works out what you would be entitled to so I’ve checked that a few times.

It truly can feel lonely, thank you and you are right it wouldn’t be the first time maternity covers have gone off on maternity. There’s the worry of not wanting to put all the pressure on your partner and then what the new employer and colleagues will think. I’m a very honest person so it was very hard not to say anything at interview and then they rang me to offer the job within a couple of hours which made me feel even worse.

Bakerbean · 23/03/2024 06:39

Hello ladies! Wow, what a week. I’ve got so much to catch up on, I’ve not been on since page 11 of the chat due to work being so unbelievably busy. I’ve pushed 76 hours in the last 5 days and am absolutely exhausted, but we have our early gender scan this morning at 10.30, so I just wanted to pop on to say hello, and I’ll be back later to let you all know whether we’re adding another boy to the group, or perhaps bringing up the number of girls! My gut says boy!

Been awake since 5.30am with excited palpitations 😵‍💫😵‍💫

Hope you’re all doing well ❤️

rupertbear91 · 23/03/2024 06:59

That's so exciting @Bakerbean best of luck for the scan. Our gender scan is 2 weeks today and I'm counting down!

We have the inlaws staying this weekend and told them about the baby last night.... queue 100 judgy comments already including insisting I will need to sell my horse 🙄 luckily they live 300 miles away so I'm hoping we won't have to see them all that much when baby is here but it did give me a sleepless night of worry over how on earth you parent a child how you want to when so many people like to give their input!

Lillers · 23/03/2024 07:31

Does anyone else get irrationally annoyed when people make comments/assumptions about their baby?

I love my family but my sister is a bit OTT about everything and I’m much more laid back. When she looked at my 12 week scan she said “I know that’s a girl, she looks exactly like my girls did on their scans.”

She now refers to the baby as “she” all the time and it’s really annoying me. I want to be the one to find out the sex and announce it! Part of me wants a boy more now just to shut her up (I think I’d prefer a girl, but actually don’t really care). I just know if it is a girl she’ll be all “I told you so” even though at no point have I ever said it’s not going to be a girl??

Stupid thing to be annoyed about, I know, but why do people do things like that?

@Demi55 that's really good! They only worry if 1 in 150 I believe so please try not to worry.
Mine was 1 in 5000 which shocked me as I'm 40

Well my company r a lovely company!! However they currently have two employees with cancer, one off totally and one down to 3 days a week until they decide treatment so now me going off pregnant in August isn't going to be helpful and I have come in as the department manager with just a young uni grad I will leave behind 😭😪

Xur · 23/03/2024 07:44

@Demi55 mine was 1 in 1000 for Downs and to be honest I felt okay with that because I have had someone with downs in my family and I thought my odds will be higher for that. BTW 1 in 1000 is actual statistics. One in 1000 kids have downs so you hava a smaller chance than actual real life statistics and I would take that as a very good sign!

@lpylou
Dont be worried, they do not care about it that much because of your short service they will not be paying you your maternity (unless you have maternity insurance from work) and if they consider you a very good employee and a nice person they might be be happy for you and look forward to your return after maternity. It’s very unlikely there are any bad vibes about it from them.

@Bakerbean good luck with the scan, I know how you feel! I did 144 hours over 12 days without rest the previous week and even though this is the second weekend off now I still feel tired 😂 the tiredness is probably making the excitement much worse than it would be normally. At least it does that to me.

Bakerbean · 23/03/2024 08:09

@xur 100% the tiredness is exacerbating the excitement and giving me the palpitations, I feel like my eyes just want to close but my brain is absolutely wired! i just can’t wait to see baby again. I hope baby behaves themselves and shows us what’s needed! It’s been an unbelievable wriggle monster every time we’ve had any scans/checks so far! We had our 16 week appointment yesterday and it took a good 5 minutes for our midwife to manage to get just 15 seconds of a consistent heartbeat reading. Baby was literally gliding from one side of my uterus to the other 😂

Demi55 · 23/03/2024 08:24

@Xur @WinsandSam thank you! It’s really hard to know without anything to compare it to. It’s because I’m 29 and the measurement behind the head was low (1.4) I assumed it would be lower
