@Lillers great they've got you an appt, at least not making the same mistake twice! What date is it? Mine is 9th May when I'll be 20+5 so seems like forever away!!

WinsandSam · 21/03/2024 20:34

@Decaffe let's hope they can sort out these thyroids before we get too big. They also said about baby having 2-3 blood tests when born due to it

longingtobe23 · 21/03/2024 20:53

At what point did people go to GP for sickness help! I am blowing chunks from dusk til dawn and I’m away on a staycation for a week now 😞

I hope it subsides I was so looking forward to some cream tea and hot fish & chips by the sea! The thought alone is horrific

I am fine after I’m sick … then it builds and builds again for an hour or two then back to square one ☹️ 14 + 2 now

WinsandSam · 21/03/2024 21:04

@longingtobe23 I was never sick and they gave my cyclazine without me asking. Just for nausea (it was pretty bad.) but it really helped. Don't suffer at all

Lillers · 21/03/2024 21:08

@BeautyAndTheBump1 Mine’s on 10th May, so the day after you! It does seem so long away! My husband has told work it’s the week before because there’s a conference he doesn’t want to go to 😂

@longingtobe23 I went the day that I was so exhausted from being sick that my body didn’t have the energy to bring it up properly and I kept choking back on it (sorry for the TMI!) The doctor was really reassuring and said that even though we can expect to be sick when we’re pregnant, that doesn’t mean we should have to feel like we have to put up with it. One word of caution though if you’re going away soon - once I was on medication, it took a few days for the side effects to settle, and for the first couple of days I was genuinely trying to decide if the side effects were worse than the sickness. Once I spoke to the GP and adjusted the dose it got better.

@WinsandSam @Lillers thanks both! I am exhausted now and my throat burns as you say - I’m not eating dinner as I can’t stand the thought of it coming out before sleep.
so in the morning it is just bile 🤦🏼‍♀️ my throat is on fire from it all….
ill have to go I might even see if I can go tomorrow before we leave 🤞🏻

rupertbear91 · 21/03/2024 22:31

@longingtobe23 definitely don't suffer unnecessarily I have HG and have been on various antisickness meds since I was 6 weeks but only just found one that actually works!
The pregnancy sickness support website is also really good for advice on medications if you want to read up before seeing a doctor. They are super helpful if you call them as well. Hope the doctor can sort you out with something

CDD · 22/03/2024 01:21

@LSW82 I am new here just popped across to see this group as had my 12 week scan on 21/03/24 going into I thought I was due 2/10/2024 so I have been in the October expectant mothers chat but they have now advised me I am due 27/09/2024. But like you I will still read and post in that chat as been talking to the people in there for weeks now and would to see all the outcomes but I will also read this chat and post if that’s ok with you guys. But it is mad it see how many people have had to move due dates into different months.

Good luck to you all on you journeys :)

Joined this thread in Feb - have recently found out I'm having MCDA Twins!

Just want a bit of reassurance that this will pass really as the sickness is getting me down quite a bit - some days lately I can't keep anything down and obviously being sick so regularly starts to hurt after a while. (sickness began in weeks 10 now on week 13)

I have been given the cylizene tabs but I'm down to my last 3 and I am having to ration them until I know when I can pick more up

WinsandSam · 22/03/2024 06:24

@longingtobe23 please do, try and get an emergency appointment today. You'll feel so much better for it x

longingtobe23 · 22/03/2024 08:30

@WinsandSam thanks I am losing weight now and water is a struggle
up Since 5:30 waiting to call 🤞🏻🤞🏻

WinsandSam · 22/03/2024 08:31

@longingtobe23 bless you, that's not good at all! Hopefully you get somewhere today

RosiePH · 22/03/2024 10:45

Has anyone else been waiting to dye their hair?! I have dark blonde hair that I was having my hairdresser dye medium brown. Haven’t had it done since December so my roots are awful!

Am I in the second trimester now at 13+1?! Going to see if I can book an appointment for a balayage/root smudge to try and blend out these roots and break the cycle of needing to dye it every month. And hopefully just feel a bit fresher and more attractive?! The first trimester has made me feel so disgusting haha. Would be nice to have a bit of energy and feel presentable again.

edit: changing a typo

tryingfortwo2 · 21/03/2024 19:57

@Honeyandsunshine1 I was looking at P&T last night, like the look of the Sport Verso.. but the models all seem quite similar. Do you remember which one you had by any chance..?

We had the “sport” I believe it is! Bought secondhand too, worked a dream! X

longingtobe23 · 22/03/2024 12:02

@RosiePH i felt grim bad and pale skin … still do 🤦🏼‍♀️ but did a good blow dry today between sickness and I feel much better for it
I have been growing my natural colour for over a year now and just do toner and trim at the hairdresser but at my lowest I wanted to bleach it all back white blonde again 😂🤦🏼‍♀️ but I don’t want to undo my hair health journey!

I would recommend root smudge or balayage though as my hair grew loads in my first pregnancy so you won’t want to be rushing back with highlights every 6 weeks if yours is the same X

Emmaev · 22/03/2024 12:17

@RosiePH I had a balayage around 9 weeks, I felt absolutely gross in the first trimester and it made me feel amazing after. A balayage is so low maintenance too so I won’t have to do too much to it in the coming months

SC126 · 22/03/2024 12:41

@RosiePH i had highlights done when I was about 8 weeks. Luckily my hair holds colour well and I go every 3 months for a refresh. My stylist will have a mini heart attack when she sees my bump in may 🤣

WinsandSam · 22/03/2024 13:29

Got my screening results through today.. it was a long weeks wait but good news, 1 in 5000 chance for Downs, Edward's and Pataus. So surprised due to my age etc but happy

Re hair, I've been having mine done since I found out. I'm not looking scabby with eczema all over my face and grey hair 😅😅

RosiePH · 22/03/2024 14:04

Thank you for the hair solidarity, ladies! Also a member of the pasty, spotty club so I am really looking forward to some fresh hair. I’ve booked a colour consultation for right after my (repeat) 12 week scan next week.

Balayage definitely feels like the way forward to minimise the regrowth in pregnancy and beyond.

Wibbles64 · 22/03/2024 16:36

@RosiePH I had mine done at 13+2, I'm in the over 40 club and was very much looking forward to it, felt 10yrs younger afterwards. No way I could have stood the smell in first trimester

My hairdresser is lovely - she said she'd never had a problem in 25 years, but does suggest having another spot/strand test if skin had been playing up early on as can be more sensitive - I didn't need it though.

Oh fantastic! I’ll definitely have to have a patch test as the salon has recently moved from L’Oréal to Davines colour, so all clients have to be tested again. But i’ll suggest a strand test too, to see how my hair takes the colour in pregnancy.

Has anyone gone through starting a new job during pregnancy? I’m 15 weeks today and sadly my current role comes to an end next week (temporary contact not extended). I was very lucky to get a job offer yesterday in a new company but feel so guilty that they don’t know I’m pregnant and that I won’t be able to be around for long (annoyingly this role is a maternity cover itself so I’ll be looking for work again post birth when I’m ready to go back). They were lovely people which makes me feel even worse and isn’t helping with the stress of finding a new job and the money worries as I won’t be entitled to anything more than maternity allowance.

SC126 · 22/03/2024 18:03

@nervouslyawaiting will they current maternity cover be back before you need to go off? If so then I can't see an issue. I think my worry is that it's unfair if you go off when the original employee on maternity is still off. Though again you legally don't have to tell them yet so it's up to you.

I kind of feel your pain ..... I had only been at my job for a month when I found out I was pregnant. I am still hiding it because I wanted to pass 3 months probation, but feel worried about telling them as I have been there such little time, and I'm worried I won't meet the requirements for their stat mat pay where I have to have been there 26 consecutive weeks 15 weeks before the due date 😭

TripleESept24 · 22/03/2024 18:07

Anyone else feeling so desperate to feel baby move 😪 I'm 15 weeks today and I have been suffering with anxiety and stress and I'm so worried. Did people start feeling baby move around 16 weeks or later???? I have just over a week to wait for my private scan and it cannot come soon enough!!!!!
