@Babyplease23 headache sickness…. the works 🤦🏼‍♀️ you’re not alone
water water water and simple foods seem to help me
I have also got a packet of fruit pastilles that have been giving me small sugar kicks when I need them!

I didn’t get my 20 weeks scan booked at my 12 weeks - but they said expect it in the post. I got my first 2 weeks before then it popped up on the badger APP - if anyone has that app! It’s handy but a bit simple 😂

still not had my screening bloods back she said no news is good news - but I go away tomorrow 🤦🏼‍♀️

Babyplease23 · 21/03/2024 12:28

@longingtobe23 It's awful isn't it! I've been quite lucky that I've not had many other symptoms, but I've definitely made up for that in headaches 😩 I love your fruit pastilles idea though, I haven't had them for years. I might take a walk up to the shops to treat myself 🤣

MudandMoet · 21/03/2024 12:41

@WinsandSam same here with the fella! Absolute full blown man flu, I'm no Florence Nightingale at the best of times so I'm just pretending I can't hear the constant groaning and moaning 😂 I've just given in and taken 2 paracetamol for my throat.

@Martibum oh no that must be a nightmare for you especially with two little babies to keep safe in there. I can't imagine how drained you must feel two week in. Will get the dissolvable Vit C this afternoon thank you.

@Emmaev when I went for the 12 week scan they made the 20 week scan appointment. It always amazes me that things are so different up and down the country with the maternity structure for appointments or lack of.

Emmaev · 21/03/2024 14:09

@MudandMoet absolutely, my friend who’s due a day after me and is only the town over said the midwife doesn’t listen to babies heartbeat as it’s not common practise anymore. Yet my midwife was happy to get the Doppler out.

Found out my uterus is on my belly button line now, so that’s why my belly has got even bigger!

MudandMoet · 21/03/2024 14:29

@Emmaev yes and like with the gender reveals that many don't do now, also badger apps and my pregnancy notes. Seems odd there's not a standard national system.

@Martibum I've just got back from the chemist and they wouldn't sell me any dissolving vit C as apparently too much in pregnancy can be harmful. Came out with a pack of good ol' Jakemans and a box of paracetamol 😕

Martibum · 21/03/2024 14:51

@MudandMoet thats crazy! Wonder its an Irish thing? My midwife and gp this said its fine as its a good boast to help against colds. But I'd understand why chemists tend to be catious. Try and bulk up the old fashioned way with oranges and veg soup!
Its so disappointing only getting handed paracetamol when all you want is something strong to knock ya out for the night!

Xur · 21/03/2024 16:06

@MudandMoet you know what you can do…I don’t take vitamin C in tablets, whenever I feel like I’m about to get sick I chug a shot of freshly made orange juice (from innocent for example) and it does the trick. Also…fyi the product of all products with the highest concentration of Vit C-are blueberries! You can also just buy a packet and munch on those. When I’m sick I eat one packet of blueberries per day.

Lillers · 21/03/2024 16:22

Screening results back, all less than 5000 chance so very pleased about that! The midwife who took my bloods was lovely, and she said she’d try to get the report to me quickly, but didn’t expect it the next day! Almost makes up for being messed around so much with the scan appointment!

Has anyone ever successfully done the Amazon baby wish list free gift thing? I read about it on here (Mumsnet) but don't have a clue how to do it

Cat2022 · 21/03/2024 16:59

@SantasRubiksCube i did it last time and it was decent enough, i think i used most things that came in it.

SantasRubiksCube · 21/03/2024 17:22

@Cat2022 thanks I will try to do it but I couldn't work it out last time I tried 😂

LSW82 · 21/03/2024 17:29

Had my scan today - 12+1 so due 2nd Oct (but I feel like I know you all so you’re stuck with me 🤣) , all looking good, baby was flipping around all over the place but managed to get measurements etc done , just blood screening to come back - I’m a bit anxious as I’m 41! Hopefully back soon, they said within a week @Lillers , the next day is amazingly quick!!

Honeyandsunshine1 · 21/03/2024 17:49

Also, whilst on vitamin talk, I saw a video earlier that said if you have 1 egg and 1 orange for breakfast, you’ve already had all your vits/mins you need for the day. 🧡🧡🧡

Cat2022 · 21/03/2024 18:02

@SantasRubiksCube oh yeah I remember it being a pain but I can’t remember how I did it unfortunately. I remember needing to create some sort of baby wish list and add it there I think maybe better on the desktop site opposed to the app.

WinsandSam · 21/03/2024 18:21

@LSW82 I too am waiting for my screening from last Friday. I'm 40 and this is my first. So feel your pain x

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 21/03/2024 18:28

Another one here anxiously waiting for the screening results!

Will they come through on badger notes before the letter in the post?

My first pregnancy I barely thought twice about them, this pregnancy I keep checking the app every day!

Decaffe · 21/03/2024 18:40

@LSW82 and @WinsandSam, I am over 40 with my first and my screening results came back today. For Downs it was 1 in 2200 and for Edwards/Pataus it was 1 in 5000 which I understand is the lowest risk they now give. Given my age, I was astonished! I did have a low risk NIPT so I did already have that reassurance but even so I was pleasantly surprised to see my statistics. So fingers crossed for you too.

I’m going to see the endocrinologist tomorrow re ongoing dodgy thyroid levels so will ask what my Papp-A and bHCG levels were as they weren’t on the letter.

WinsandSam · 21/03/2024 18:43

@Decaffe that's amazing and surprising like you say!
I was told they'd ring me by Friday if high risk, if not a letter within 2 weeks.

I too have thyroid issues, had Graves' disease and radioactive iodine some years ago. My tsh levels are too high apparently at 5 and need to be under 2 so meds have been increased

WinsandSam · 21/03/2024 18:44

@BeautyAndTheBump1 I do t have Badger, I've downloaded it but don't have a code to get on. How did you get it?

I'm waiting for a letter or phone call

Decaffe · 21/03/2024 18:45

Fingers crossed for no phone call tomorrow 😊 Ah sounds like I’m the opposite, my last TSH was 0.02 😳 and then T3 was above the upper limit. It’s all fun and games…!

Lillers · 21/03/2024 18:51

After all the faff with getting the appointment for my 12 week scan, I’ve just received notification of my 20 week scan appointment! Pretty astounded to have received it so quickly, especially seeing as when I asked my colleague who had her 20 week scan yesterday and is under the same team as me, she didn’t get hers until 2 weeks before. It all seems a bit haphazard!

OP posts:
LSW82 · 21/03/2024 19:11

@Decaffe @WinsandSam hopefully it’s good news all round, I had my son 2 years ago at 39, nearly 40 & all was fine with my results then, it’s just another hurdle to get over in this crazy time! @WinsandSam hope you get your letter soon , I have badger notes it was set up with midwife at booking appointment & they had the code etc

tryingfortwo2 · 21/03/2024 19:57

@Honeyandsunshine1 I was looking at P&T last night, like the look of the Sport Verso.. but the models all seem quite similar. Do you remember which one you had by any chance..?

tryingfortwo2 · 21/03/2024 20:03

And @rupertbear91 I would say it’s not too early if you’re comfortable with it, especially if it’s a great deal. But if you’re superstitious or someone who would worry they’ve jinxed it, or blame yourself if you had a wee scare and think it was because you bought too early, I wouldn’t.

Basically, I say ignore what you “should” do, and do whatever sits best with you! We were gifted our pram for DD and I must’ve been about 14wks when they dropped it off at the front door so didn’t have much time to overthink it 😂

BeautyAndTheBump1 · 21/03/2024 20:18

@WinsandSam My midwife called me before my booking in appt and set it up for me, I believe they're the ones who have to take your email etc then they set you up with it x
