I noticed the other thread was full and have started a new one.

Lovely to hear of everyone’s 20 week scans. Thanks to those of you who gave me a list of baby essentials, very helpful!

Hope you’re all doing well!

I have both car seats but was considering getting the cybex as suggested. I didn't baby wear my daughter, I have hyper mobility and a bad shoulder and so it wasn't really possible. Not sure if my husband will but then that depends on him being with us also.

Busyhedgehog · 27/04/2024 13:20

We've got a Jane Matrix Light for the first year, so the restriction times of how long a baby should be in the car seat don't apply. It's fully reclined and goes on top of the pushchair as a bassinet. For afterwards, I'm currently considering the Maxi Cosi Mica Eco i-Size. We've got a Joie Every Stage one that my parents are currently using in their car but it's 8 years old and has been used for 3 children so far.

I've also had a phone call from my OB/GYN to say that my iron levels are a little low, so had to get some stuff for that. I'm sure I had something similar with DS.

Since the weather is finally nicer again here, we went on our first bike ride of the year. DS is always a bit wobbly and scared when he first gets on his bike again so used his smaller one instead of the new big bike he's got. We managed in the end. I found it hard work after a while and had to wheel it at times, though. Considering renting an ebike for a few weeks...😁

Morningcoffeeaddict · 27/04/2024 16:01

@Amberellaella - if we get a summer this year! DS was born height of summer in a heatwave so we do have a buggy with a bassinet but only used it a handful of times. Last summer I think we barely had a week of warm weather that I can remember - hoping this year will be kinder to us!

Nocoffeenotalkie · 27/04/2024 19:14

It'll probably be colder than average because my husband just ordered an air conditioner. He is worried about 30+ temps and a newborn. Cost a fortune so it's guaranteed to be on the cooler side😄

Hoping4amiracle · 29/04/2024 04:10

@CB2805 congratulations on the birth of your twins, I’m praying they come through their NICU stay without any significant challenges. Have you joined the ‘parents of preemies’ support group on Facebook?

Hoping4amiracle · 29/04/2024 04:17

To update, I’m still pregnant but I’m in hospital until I deliver. They have been amazing - twice daily Doppler scanning, two CTGs a day and observations every two to three hours. I feel so thankful that the consultants will keep baby in as long as possible … nearly 28 weeks but due to IUGR he isn’t even 700 grams.

Dopplers haven’t deteriorated but they are really worried about controlling pre-eclampsia. Praying I can hold out just a little while longer xx

Amberellaella · 29/04/2024 07:03

Sorry to hear that @Hoping4amiracle, but well done you; you’re doing amazingly. Will be thinking about you and your little one. X

Morningcoffeeaddict · 29/04/2024 07:39

@Hoping4amiracle - hoping for the best for you both. Glad they’re taking good care of you in the hospital- it sounds like you’re in the best possible hands

missmoosh · 29/04/2024 09:42

@Hoping4amiracle im sorry to hear you can't leave the hospital. Hopefully you can hold on a bit longer ❤️

Jess725 · 29/04/2024 12:14

@CB2805 congratulations and sending love! ❤️

I cannot believe I am 30 weeks today!! I am in the realm of thinking about collecting hospital bag bits, eeeeek.
On the topic of car seats, I did soooo much research haha, and I have opted for cybex too as I am getting their compact stroller (but the one with good wheels!) and it only had adaptors for this brand. I originally wanted a joie seat but from research, cybex is also excellent for seats for anyone wondering! :)

I wondered if anyone had advice on a carry cot for a stroller, I am not going to buy one pre birth but getting more concerned I actually need one. I am a sucker for being minimal so even a bassinet downstairs is giving me the ick 😆 The add on for the cot is so expensive but will fork out if needs must!!! Thanks for letting me rant! Wish you all a wonderful week xxx

justanotherlaura · 29/04/2024 17:24

@Jess725 I had a pram top for our stroller and my first son absolutely screamed his head off every time I tried to take him out in it. At 6 weeks I moved him to the regular seat in the stroller and he was so much happier, I wasted a couple of hundred pounds on the pram part for 6 weeks. I'll try again with this one seeing as we still have it but the stroller we have can be used from birth so I'll not be forcing him into the pram if he's unhappy!

wannabe123 · 29/04/2024 17:38

@Hoping4amiracle hoping baby plays ball and they can stay inside a bit longer!

@Jess725 you could always try to find one second hand but if you can use what you've got from birth then you'll probably be fine. Baby isn't going to know what other babies have on their prams. Just do what works for you 😊

Oatmilktea · 29/04/2024 19:29

Unfortunately I had another bleed due to placenta previa and this time it was through the night at 2.30am. My partner called an ambulance and they were with me in minutes and there were a team of medical staff waiting for me when I arrived. Luckily the bleeding had slowed right down and they didn’t need to do an emergency c section. I’ll be admitted for at least a few days and I am likely to get a section at 36 weeks now.

This has obviously given me a huge fright but it has also made me realise that I’m not organised enough for baby coming! I’m looking for recommendations please for the following:

baby monitor
next to me crib

also if anyone knows where I can get a Moses basket mattress with the dimensions 66 x 28 cm and a mattress for the silver cross wave carry cot which I believe is 70 x 30 cm. Thanks so much!

@Oatmilktea such a frightening experience for you again - hope you get some rest in the hospital, sounds like you’re in good hands.

on recommendations - the exact models of ours are old now but I have a snuzpod for the bedside crib and a BT monitor (no WiFi for us) and have been very happy with both. I’ve generally got mattresses from John Lewis but I expect there are cheaper options

Amberellaella · 29/04/2024 19:38

@Jess725 we did use our carrycot bit a lot. Not for transport because I mostly baby wear, but for daytime sleeping at home and night time sleeping if we were away from home. I think you need to get one certified for nighttime sleep. We had the Nuna Mixx Next. Nighttime sleep at home we had her in a snuzpod, which is too big and heavy to carry about easily - even though the fact that you can move it about is supposed to be one of the selling points 😂.

Amberellaella · 29/04/2024 19:39

@Oatmilktea sorry you’re in hospital again, but great news that baby is Ok in there and you have a plan for going forward x

missmoosh · 29/04/2024 20:10

@Oatmilktea so sorry to hear you are back in hospital, they can keep an eye on you there though and intervene quickly if needed.
In relation to next to me crib, we have been gifted a snuzpod 4.
Baby monitor wise I'm not going to get just yet, as baby will be in with us for first 6 months. So I figured not something we need straight away 😊
Not sure on mattresses, but can have a Google and see if I can find any links for you!

Oatmilktea · 29/04/2024 20:16

Thank you, it was very scary but glad things have settled down now. I have so many different thoughts swirling through my head about things that we need to get organised that it’s hard to know where to begin! The snuzpod seems like a popular suggestion for the next to me, will have a look thank you!

@Busyhedgehog we have the Maxi Cosi Mica Eco i-Size for DD and I really rate it. We used the car seat from the travel system when she was dinky and her brother will have that at first as well.

Sophie3003 · 29/04/2024 21:33

@Oatmilktea sorry to hear you had another bleed, fingers crossed baby holds on.

Also I got my replacement mattress for my silver cross from baby birds (for my last pushchair). Could I ask what your Wave is like? I am looking to get one as would like to get a single to double as am hoping to have more babies after this one.

We have a BT monitor 6000. It's what I had for my daughter and was always very impressed with it xx

AnonymousXXIX · 29/04/2024 22:07

We got a pram second hand that came with the bassinet and car seat. Used all of them and will use same again for second baby. Car seat was fastened with seatbelt method. Then at 1 year old got a bigger car seat off Amazon that was well reviewed and rated. Can use either isofix or seatbelt on that one. Never looked at brand names. We don't massively use the car a lot though and just have the 1 car so never considered any special functions.

We don't use a baby monitor as we were always in the same room till 6 months and then after that just listened for baby and checked frequently. House was small enough for that anyway! Should note though that our baby/toddler has never gone to sleep before 9pm so it's not like we spend the whole evening running up and down and being on guard. We pass out at 10pm ourselves 🤣 DH works in tech and his colleagues made me sufficiently paranoid about anything with a camera possibly getting hacked into! Sorry if no one wanted to hear that 😅

AnonymousXXIX · 30/04/2024 10:23

Oh yeah we also have a snuzpod 4 from last time. Got it off FB marketplace or gumtree (can't remember) in excellent condition :D First 2 months baby wouldn't go in it and stayed in the moses basket though lol (got that from a charity shop for 5 quid!). I was so sad when the snuzpod became too small at 6 months and we had to invest in an actual cot. Sleep was so much easier with the next-to-me.

Morningcoffeeaddict · 30/04/2024 11:03

@AnonymousXXIX - valid point about the baby monitors. I work in tech as well (hence the non-WiFi monitor and no interest in one with an app). Sounds like you don’t need one anyway but for other peoples reassurance if they are thinking about them with ours you’d have to be in range to intercept it and I’ve checked and you’d have to be in our house or stood on our driveway to get the signal which I feel like would be a problem of its own and a risk I’m comfortable with.

also very much missed the snuzpod when he went into his own room - husband was reminiscing last night about how sad he was when we stopped all being in the same room.
